GY6 scooter Longjia LJ125T-A - was it worth buying it?
I had the opportunity to get a cheap Chinese scooter Longjia LJ125T-A with GY6 152QMI engine. It had its issues like not able to start, broken plastics and missing screws. In this video I am trying to fix it and get it up and running so it can be used once again. I plan to make also improvements and maybe a big bore kit for more top end speed

are u using the manual of the 1986 rmg? because i'm struggling with the distance of the gap between the first and secondary carb , on lm manual is 0.5mm to 1mm is that correct also for the rmg?
Hello, thank you for your comment. Yes I am setting the same gap on my rmg machines. Float level for my carbs is 18mm and gap between the carbs is set to 0.5 -1.0 mm, that is what the service manual describes.
@@handymandiy3368 i got an issue with that , when i use 0.5 -1.0 mm regulation , when the second carburator start to open , the engine stop the running , any idea?
Hi, love the video. I have the same printer and when running the print quality report, it comes out only in black and white. Color cartraiges show ok levels. Ive been running the printer head cleaning and after a few times can now see faint yellow only. What do you suggest i do?
Hello, print dump sheets. Sheets with just the colors that are not working and from time to time do a head cleaning cycle. You can start with the yellow. Just print yellow until it prints the whole sheet. It is better than deep cleaning all the time as it saves the print head.
You never oiled the rubber gasket on the filter before replacing?
Hello, the oil filter that I was using already had the rubber gasket oiled with some kind of lubricant so I did not have to apply anything. If it would not have this lubricant, I would use a bit of oil to lubricate the gasket.
how do you get the message indicating the ink tray is full to go away after cleaning?
Hello, I was not seeing any message when I started the cleaning. In my case the printer was working but did not print anything due to ink dried print heads.
is there a reason you only did 2 instead of 4?
Hello, Honda transalp 600v 1997 is a two cylinder bike so it has only 2 spark plugs
@@handymandiy3368 interesting, I think we have the same bike and I'm about to swap mine and keep reading there are four.
I have checked the manual and you are right, I was mostly working on xl600 rm and those have only 1 plug. As you mentioned this bike has 2 plugs per cylinder and I did not see the ones that are difficult to reach. I will have to switch out the other two as well. Thank you very much for pointing out my mistake.
regardless the engine purrs like a kitten.
@@dansanders8517 Yes need to remove the fuel tank to get to them and still the radiator gets in the way. If you look in a Haynes manual it shows you on this Bike.
Hi! Did the bike came from Italy? There's a big former honda dealer called "motoves" in Verona, Italy!
Hello, unfortunately I do not know where the bike was originally from, the previous owner did not five me any information. Thanks for the dealer name though, it might come in handy.
@@handymandiy3368 btw i have the same bike, black color red seat year 86, nice little bike I’ve had a lot of travels and adventures with her
Hello and thank you for your nice video. I do however have doubts about how the oil level was checked. The owners manual my 600 Transalp came with does not state whether the dipstick should be screwed in or not. My Hanyes manual says to not screw it in. All other sources I have come across for other Honda motorbikes state that the dipstick should not be fully screwed in when measuring the level. Could you please confirm that you are using the correct procedure, as the difference between a screwed in dipstick and not, would differ a lot due to the long threads of the cap?
Hello, thank you for your comment. There are two ways how we can change the oil, we can use the dip stick or we can use the specified amount of oil that is stated in the manual. The second option is however not precise as we do not know how much oil got out. The manual that I had did not state if the dip stick should be screwed in or not, it just wrote to check that the oil is in the range. I tried to check also the amount, that was why I was looking at the second bottle all the time. If I would fill in the oil to max with the screwed on dip stick according to your manual it should end up somewhere in between the min and max level so that should be fine. I will double check it and add a bit more oil. Thank you for the information. Seems that I have to look for a better manual :)
i have done the cleaning how you did in the video and black color still don't work, i installed original cartridge from HP, what i can do to make it work
Hello, if the black color does come out but is not clear, you will have to run deep cleaning cycles multiple times until it gets unstuck. But do not do many cycles at once, let it rest between cleaning cyclea

Hi Handyman; i have been following your videos; they are helpful. I recently aquire a 1987 Xl 600 RM that i am currently rebuilding. Thanks

Tengo un problema no reconoce el cartucho azul 😞
Hello, does it say that the cartridge is not genuine or it does not see it at all? If it does not see it at all, I would check the sensor/switch that indicates that it was pushed in, maybe it is broken
Hello, Can you tell me where you bought the seal kit? Thanks
Hello, I bought it on ebay. But I did not use the parts from it, only few of them as necessary because some of the parts are not the same. Once you get the kit compare the parts to make sure they are the same

You used red gasket silicone on the float bowls? Really? That was a mistake you never will do again im sure. Oil sure, anyplace else, sure. But for float bowls no 100% . You will soon have to,pick out the gasket sement from yiur jets.
Yes, that was a fast fix as I wanted to test the engine out. Later on I had to reopen and clean the carb again so I got rid of that sealant. On the white bike where I cleaned the 2 carbs, you can see that I did not put anything else there. Thanks for the comment
I'm getting an error code of OXB81A81CE, (LINE BREAK) P1 OXEO1A81CE. It's on an HP Officejet Pro X451dn. I cannot find the codes online anywhere. anyone have a reference link? Thanks in advance.
What did you use to lubricate the machine?
I was using machine oil, the oil that you put in sawing machines or guns and such, and one a bit thicker oil on the sliders so it sticks there. You should be able to get it in the electronic parts store.
@@handymandiy3368 Thanks!
What was the little blue cap you put into the printer when you were adjusting the travel and noise of the cartridge loader???
Hello, I needed to see what is going on inside of the machine. The blue cap is a small magnet. If you check out the door, you will find a small magnet that is mounted there, the magnet is closing a contact that indicates that the door is closed. So what I did is I put the magnet to the contact and that way simulated that I have closed the door so I could watch what is going on in the machine

It would be probably best to take it to a repair shop if you are not skilled with fixing electronics. I hope you resolve your issue soon

I really enjoyed this video! Thank you for posting. I have a 1987 XL600R that needs this done, but will do it later since the bike is so much fun to ride. It just smokes a little upon starting, then okay after.
Hey man just wanted to say awesome job on all of your xl600 series I watched them all. I have same bike and was wondering if you put electric start on or if previous person did? Also my gas tank moves around a little and feels unstable at times. I removed it and fastened rubber bushings on frame better but didn't help. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks again for videos I subscribed !👍 👍
Hello, thank you for the comment, my bike is XL600 RMG version, that version had the starter right from the factory. For the gas tank, mine also moves a round a bit, there are the rubber cushion that rest just near the ignition coil. Those help with the stability so you can get bigger ones or cut them out from some thick rubber so you get a better/tighter fit, that could help with the moving around. On my bike there do not stick and move freely so it is easy to lose them, I had to look for them in my garage several times :)
where do I order a new clutch plate?
Amazon
Hello, you can get spare parts also from here www.cmsnl.com/
Verry nice
Handyman, you lost me once I saw you spinning a drill bit into the float needle seats, that was like watching a horror movie. Also you didn't seperate the carbs and replace the o-rings on the ends of the fuel and vapor transfer tubes as those o-rings do become hard, brittle and cracked and leak, not worth the risk and labor removing the carbs a second time which will be required anyway after the carb cleaner spraying has attacked the rubber air cut off diaphragm turning it into sticky jelly then failure. Seperated carbs the only way to get access to the air cut off diaphragm. Spraying all the passages also checking the very small drilled holes passages entering the throat of the carb body checking for small ROUND STREAMS of cleaner vs a slightly restricted or plugged by crap causing fanned out spraying streams these very tiny passages later not allowing the carb to function properly. Didn't see extra attention to the emulsion tubes with their tiny cross drilled holes known to get plugged up very easily causing rihhing issues. Didn't see your flat level check both floats at each carb being identical as most times they end up twisted, one side too low or too high while the other side at spec. The bridge or "U" type of float checking tool best made as adjustble allowing exactly 18 or 20mm held up checking both floats at each carb. Easy to make tool out of aluminum like seen in the Honda $ervice Manuals. It's all in the little details allowing for a smooth ideling and running engine provided valves were set first, timing strobe checked initial and full advance. Machined alloy metal surfaces cleaned by plastic or wood scrapers softer than the carb alloy along with any aluminum and magnesium machined engine parts. Razor blades gouging machined surfaces is a sign of needless abused machinery......~~=o&o>.......
Thank you for the comment. The video is actually from second time I have disassembled the carbs like about a week apart from the first one where I changed all the seals except the air cut off valve which I changed later as well. Most of the work was done on the first disassembly but I did not record that part. The drill bit was to get rid of hard gunk and don't worry there was nearly no pressure at all so no material would get removed or seat damaged. Actually it worked well for me as I had new valves but it was still leaking a bit. After doing that was fixed. I did not have the tool for flat level check so I used a caliper. I still have to buy necessary equioment for maintaining this bike. I have just got it and there is still many things I want to rebuild. For now I just wanted to know that the engine will run as it was in a really bad shape
