I have a similar problem. I have a 04 civic, and it leaks coolant badly around the similar area and a large seal was hanging out below the belts, I drained the remaining coolant and poured water into it and it drains directly out. Any thoughts on what the seal is ? I haven’t taken much apart other than looking at it from under and top

You have to take off the alternator, move the power steering pump out of the way, timing cover, timing belt, timing belt tensioner, and you may have to loosen or remove a motor mount I can’t remember.
