You would use your right hand to press the modifier, so with QWERTY, you would hold J for Shift if you want an uppercase F. From an ergonomic perspective, it's best to use the modifier with the opposite hand to avoid 'finger yoga' with one hand. This is also known as bilateral HRM. Correct, the letter is activated by tapping, while the modifier is activated by holding. In both ZMK and Kanata you can configure the timing aspects for Tap and Hold. @@moosyresearch6591 so what do you do to repeat a letter in the home row, for instance youtube uses L as a hotkey to skip 10s so you can't repeat the key by holding it just by tapping multiple times? can you disable that or add another modifier key to turn toggle the holding activation?

I did. I didn't realize that I was putting the .json file for the k11 pro instead of the k11 max. keychron has a native configurator now launcher.keychron. try that instead.

Via is simple but also very limited. We cannot configure any delays, timing or any bilateral combinations. The HRM shown with Via are very basic. For more Advanced HRM, you have two options: 1.) QMK and create your own firmware and configure more advance HRM. This does require serious effort that is why Via exists. 2.) Kanata (recommended) This is a tool that you run on your computer, allowing you to configure very advanced HRM, including bilateral combinations. Make sure to disable your HRM on your hardware!! It's simple and consists of one executable that you download and a configuration file.
