Bad ass.
Could i get info on where you got the hardware and thickness of leather used. Weird, i just can't gst a single M'fer to answer a question lol
How can i place an ordee??
Can i buy the helmet
how would you expand expand your flip up to be able to fit a auto darkening lens?
I use a dremmel with a cutting disc then a flat file to smooth it out
What is the top cut measurement?
No hace trabajos y enviarlos a México su trabajo me gusto
I’m not sure what you are trying to say, I think the translation into English is off. But thanks for watching.
Love the content man
Whats that tool you used called
The cutting tool was a Dremel with a cutting disc, they are just small end grinders. If you have never used one I strongly suggest wearing eye and face protection.
I put the flip front on my pipeliner and now one of the bottom corners of my hood is all flexed out like the hood is warped. When I put the front on it seemed like it wasn't a great fit to the original shape of the hood to begin with. Have you had any problems with that? If so, how did you fix it?
Sounds like the hole you cut out may be too small, you want it snug but it does need room to freely move without being jammed up.
Do you have a link for the snaps and rivets?

What is the brand of your welsing cap?
Some of the ones in the videos were made by people who don’t make them anymore.
All of the other leather top pipeliners I’ve seen had the leather stretched and cut to sit flush against your head, blocking any sparks or light from entering through the top. Why did you snap your leather flat against the back of the face of your shell? Might as well not be there if it isn’t blocking anything.
Didn’t have enough time in between jobs and days off to perfect it. You need to rivet them in order to keep the shape to cover the top.
I was wondering if you could explain how to do the top leather part to a cut off sugar scoop?
Are you talking about the lens part or the actual top of the hood.
what hood is that?
Honeywell pipeliner
Where can I get strips of leather like this ?
Tandy, Springfield leather, European leather works. You can buy inexpensive bundles on Amazon for fairly cheap.
@@thesteamfittersgarage3098 omg thank you I appreciate your quick response this means a lot.
You are very welcome
Good job...
Thanks Gene
The moment I seen the no guard on the grinder, I knew you was good people😂🤣😅..nice hood
🤣🤣🤣
Let’s say from the square holes from the head gear. How much did you cut off?
I’ll pull a tape on it and get you a measurement tomorrow
How did u draw the line on the top of the hood to cut it straight.
I measured from the top of the square hole I cut out for the flip a attachment. The best way to do it is mark two equal points and then use some masking tape to form a straightforward line to follow.
Есть готовые кожаные маски для труднодоступных мест, зачем портить пластиковую.
Customization, personalization, breathable and protects your beard if you have one. Plus leather sock hoods are uncomfortable to wear. A hood like this is probably 3 times lighter than a leather sock hood.
What was the measurements for that cut. Saw a few like that and would like to cut mine the same way
Are you talking about the bottom cut? For the throat?
@@thesteamfittersgarage3098 yes
@@Jacob-bk4md I’ll have to check tomorrow, I left my hood at work over the weekend. I’ll see if I can get it for you after work.
@@thesteamfittersgarage3098 thank you!!
@@Jacob-bk4md looks like I did different measurements on the last 2 I have done. The one from the video was about 2” from the center of the throat and tapers out to a point to about 1/16”. The other has the same taper but I took about 2-1/2” to a taper. Guess it depends on your chin. But if you are adding leather even if you cut it short you are still fine. I have seen guys cut them completely across about 2” above and below the lens window. Lots of room for custom but the top measurement is more important to keep arc rays out. Hope this helps bud.
Inspirational and touching!! Boost your online stats = P R O M O S M !!!
Thank you Garret
Thanks Garret
🤜🤛
Muito loko !!!!
Where did you get your flip up lens from
The flip attachment is Sellstrom brand, they sell them on Amazon for about $20.00
Could you recommend an auto lens? Love the vids so far, I’m following along with my own helmet.
Depends on your price range, the Tefuwe’s are a nice color, around $55 off of Amazon, not very versatile though. The Lincoln 4C adjustable are very good, around $140-$160. Can plasma cut and weld from shade 10 to 13. Hope that helps you will have to open your lens slot up past 1/4” to fit the 4C though.
Thanks for watching
Great hood
Thanks bud
Where did you get the flip front adapter?
On Amazon for about $20 US
I think the brand is Sellstrom
Bad ass!
Where'd you get the leather!
Not exactly sure on the piece I used, my son got me a box of scrap leather for Christmas. It was some kind of Amazon bundle deal.
@@thesteamfittersgarage3098 dang okay I'll look on amazon. Can't find leather but I'm tired of burning my neck and chest welding overhead. Thanks
@@frosty4980 I hear that bud, they are nice for keeping the bb’s off for sure.
Do you have a rough idea of the thickness of the leather ? Thanks
@TheSkier2124 1-2 oz, goatskin leather works well also. It’s thin and stretchy.
Looks awesome man. What local you from?
Local 228 Marysville CA, thanks for watching.
