Red Howler Monkeys at Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Yorkshire Wildlife Park, opened in 2009, is home to several Venezuelan Red Howler Monkeys. The park plays a vital role in the conservation of this species. Carlos, born in April 2023, is the second offspring of Tila and Geronimo. He’s maturing into an adventurous young monkey, oozing with cheeky confidence. His journey has been a joy to witness.

Water-powered carousel, Isle of Man

Although much restored this water-powered carousel (roundabout) at Silverdale Glen dates back to 1911, and is the oldest working example of its type in the British Isles. The waterwheel was re-purposed after the closure of a lead mine at nearby Foxdale. Shift the lever, leap on board, and ride that horse! Filmed 18 June, 2018.

Peel Harbour is the Isle of Man’s main port, lying in the shadow of an 11th century castle originally built for the Viking Magnus Barefoot. Seemingly undeterred by the coming and goings of fishing boats and recreational vessels, several pairs of Black Guillemots have made it their home. Filmed on 20/06/2018 and 26/06/2018.

A sustainable population of feral Red-necked Wallabies (aka Bennett’s Wallabies) lives in the north of the Isle of Man, descendants of animals that escaped from the nearby Curragh Wildlife Park. Video shows several adults, and a joey in its mother’s pouch. Filmed in fading light on the evenings of 20/06/2018 and 23/06/2018.

    Thanks to you guys I Can hear Lions Growling or whatever they do at midnight. which I don't mind obviously. I really Hope that non of these Animals manage to escape your zoo. Can You Imagine if there was a Lion on the Loose in Cantley somewhere haha

      Not sure. Maybe 7 or 8, but I guess it can vary depending on how many piglets they have!

    Do you think inland brown bears are one of the most exciting non-man animals? The reason I called "grizzly" bears inland brown bears was to distinguish them from the coastal brown bears of North America.

    I have magical childhood memories of Silverdale Glen as a child in the 70s. Many a happy holiday there. I loved the carousel.

      I can well believe it. It's a magical place, and that carousel is very special...and works without the need for power from fossil fuels too. Brilliant!

    I was born an live in Montana. These tourists are completely stupid an have absolutely no common sense or respect for animals. . I wish they would have all gotten attack. Maybe next time, they stay in the damn car. Or better yet don't come to our state at all

      Thank you. Although it's relatively common the Tui quickly became our favourite of all NZ birds during a 7 weeks tour of the country in 2019.

    The man taking photos went missing but one of those Grizzlies was spotted a few days later taking photos of people with a camera that looks exactly the same.
