A hybrid wetland technology comprising a septic tank, a horizontal flow wetland, a slag phosphorus filter and a vertical flow wetland has been shown to perform well in a cold climate with consistently high effluent quality.
Septage Treatment using Reed Bed Filters
Просмотров 17 тыс.10 лет назад
Reed beds have been shown to be a low-cost and low-maintenance technology to dewater and treat septage under Canadian climatic conditions.
Is one required to line the bed with a rubber or plastic sheet prior to the application of the sand and gravel?
do you have any plain instructions for DIY aplication? also depending on the amount of sludge that is produced etc maybe a PDF or smt?
Great video!!!!

Can a system like this be done without pumps or the need for electricity?
CrossWood Hi There. I am not an expert but have delved into it a little and in my opinion it is totally possible as long as you have enough of a gradient to allow gravity to do the job. Wastewater (black or grey water) should be able to flow by gravity into a settling tank through vertical and horizontal flow tanks etc. It just requires careful design and consideration of the steps in the process. Basically, you want to remove solids, aerate or oxygenate the water and buffer it to control the acidity by raising the pH or neutralizing any acidity. Its doable. Good luck.
Dose it get clogged after time?
Hi guys, thanks for the video, informative yet not mind boggling - where would I be able to find out some more information about this? We're considering building a wetland system but it seems so far difficult to find some ground knowledge! Thanks!
