It made sense to me that the Batman wasn't a presence earlier in the series because the gang war was pretty contained and no civilians were getting hurt. Once Sofia blew up Penguin's operation, that would have gotten Batman's attention. Once that happened seeing the signal was inevitable.

Billy Idol apparently never lost it. Jimmy Buffett was also still good up until the day he left this world... I was happy to hear the Cure's latest because they sound just as good now as they did in the 80's. especially in concert - which was how i stumbled onto your video. i'm old enough to have heard a lot of bands and singers who attempted come-backs only to end up disappointed. humans get old, their voices don't always age well. but man..... once in a while you get those rare gems who stand the test of time.

The greatest movie!

I just came out of viewing the movie and wow it was just amazing i wanna watch it again so bad the experience of just being in the theatre was just wow

*spoiler* The worst part of the whole thing is that the movie is in a way not just referencing the artist's own struggle with not going to art school (and how he might've gone back to manga regardless) but that the killings are also a reference to the kyoto animation arson attack where so many people who worked in anime got burned alive by a freak that said that they had stolen his drawings

Outer Wilds is a game about exploring a solar system and discovering the secrets of a lost civilisation. It's very story-driven, and extremely spoiler-heavy, so make sure to be careful of spoilers! The main gameplay loop is exploring planets, reading logs left behind by the lost civilisation, and then using that knowledge to solve interactive puzzles to uncover more of the story.

Weak take, pay more attention to what`s going on around you, in society and in the rest of the world. All these recent movies are a political agendas made as "entertainment", it's a project of emasculation and demoralization of masculinity.

Boring and unnecessarily emotional

Took me many years before Miyazaki’s films began to unravel and make sense. That’s one thing lovely about ‘Art’ as each critic or fan will come to their own over time. I watched it again after appreciating the other films and now I found a love for it anew. I began to see his films as a single ‘opus’ rather than different works.

Sorry it was not on your wavelength. Most of those hating it do not even know Tarkovsky. It worked for me but I like maximalist cinema. Good review.

Love your take. People saying the ending was too much, but in my opinion the movie really hints that the last act is not to be taken "seriously" (as if anything in the movie was supposed to be). I'm screaming to anyone that's willing to hear me that there are clear references to other movies (the shining , 2001, obviously "The Thing", Sunset Boulevard, Death Becomes Her ... and I guess more that I didn't catch)

just yesterday i was thinking of this topic, most story is about the hero's journey. I think only experimental films will be new in the future. I think there are well made films and there are films that blow your mind. After we experience a lot of movies we understand that we don't get our mind blown by upcoming similar experiences. I may be wrong but that's how i feel about it. If am wrong i would be happy as i can enjoy more movies.

What's interesting to me is how much of a contrast between older and contemporary filmmaking. Older films rely more on methods used more in theaters and plays due to limited resources. Nowadays, there seems to be more tools to immerse you into the world of the film. I think what evolves is the realism of the things we'd never thought of seeing with technology, i.e. LotR, Avatar, while keeping what makes them charming in the first place. Cinema at its root is to make you believe in the story the filmmakers are telling, even when there are lots of flaws in the screenplay. As humanity evolves, who knows they'd shoot a movie in outer space (or a different dimension for that matter)?

I’ve been asking this question for a while. What happened to these Disney movies like Miracle, The Journey of Natty Gann, Flight of the Navigator, White Fang, Homeward Bound etc. Disney just suddenly stopped making these original films.

Disney still makes live-action family-themed films. They just tend to go direct-to-streaming on Disney+ and get little attention except from the hardcore fans.

I remember my parents renting The Greatest Game Ever Played when I was a kid and I thought it was a bit boring…until the end. The shot of his dad celebrating with the rest of the crowd is engrained my head, such a good payoff that sticks with me just as much as other animated movies of theirs. Good video! Glad to see some acknowledgement for that movie and others of its kind.

What more can be said about Disney? The earnest, schlocky, heart-warming charm they once exhibited in their films has been overtaken by the need to inundate us with a checklist of socio-political messages

Three Musketeers was a Good one!

I know this would be subject to endless debate. But I would be MUCH quicker to call BATMAN BEGINS (2005) the perfect one. It had Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Liam Neeson. It took some new turns, but it had enough familiar elements. We got enough time with both Batman and Bruce Wayne. The eventual Commissioner Gordon had to deal with corruption in his office. I have loved BATMAN since the Adam West days. But I have an aversion towards the 2022 film for SEVERAL reasons.

People are soooo negative about this season. I agree, season 1 was better. But they were dealing with a lot this season between the writers' strike and HBO slashing their episode count by two episodes. They did really well considering all of that.

People these days seem to forget that good storytelling relies on world- and character building and not only on spectacle. That's how we end up with stuff like Rings of Power or some of the Star Wars series. If you don't explore the motives and background for your characters, they remain as empty shells that nobody cares about. Showrunners or writers rush from one big scene to the next, leaving the characters and their motives and the world as a whole completely underdeveloped. Same with GoT S7+8... Benioff and Weiss did not understand what made Game of Thrones so interesting in the first place, and even turned down offers to make more Episodes or Seasons in favor of rushing to the finale, leaving behind dozens of loose ends and completely ruining the arcs of important characters like, Bran, Varys and of course Daenerys.

while a bit older than you are, I enjoy older films in gneral especially between 1950s till 1970s. This film still fell within the spectrum. I would not call romance films chick flicks because ultimately they are films about people and relationships which is the stuff life is made of. Even when the core is a love story, there are always many concepts and values around it to go far beyond the two people involved. I also enjoyed your tracing the path of the film from mediocre reviews to cult status, which is very true.... I look forward to more videos from you....
