Very nice finds Chris, whether pre loved or reissued. I have and original Canadian press of Quatermas, which I found in the delete bin back in ‘74. Fantastic. I’m looking for that Otis record, maybe I’ll get lucky one day and find an original. I have a copy of Carmen’s Dancing on a Cold Wind which I’ve had since it’s release. It’s on Regal, and also produced by Visconti. Very Spanish influenced as well. That Abrahams album is special. I’ve never seen a copy. I’m a big Family fan, have all their albums, nice find for a fiver. Alex Chilton had a great voice. I have an original of Soft Parade, which was a delete copy. Wasn’t one of their huge sellers and was dropped from the catalogue. Not bragging about any of this, it’s just that I’ve kept my collection since forever, and I’m an old geezer 😂😉. Cheers buddy.
Hi Chris, I’ve bought a few MOV releases. They are done very well. I’ve no idea whether their releases are enhanced CD rips, or whether they get access to tapes via a licence in the way labels like Arcade and Ronco used to back in the 70s. However, I cringe at the current infatuation with coloured vinyls. I’ve no idea if this is to do with a shortage of source material, but just give me standard black. I don’t know how you’ve found it but there is a theory that clear vinyl is one of the worst sounding. Regardls, Gary - Norwich
Hi Gary ,interesting observation, both the quatermas and comus albums are on clear vinyl and they should sound better ,they don't sound bad,the shuggie ptis album is on black vinyl all 3 are on mov and it sounds awesome really good . All the best Chris.
Back in the day, I saw Carmen live - they opened up for Bowie and they are extraordinary live - including duo tap-dancing on a regal rug! I have both Carmen albums in my collection. Just recently found the 2nd Wild Turkey LP - saw them live - they opened up for Jethro Tull back in the 70's. Need to find that Box Tops album (AND Quatermass - used to have that in my 1st LP collection!)
Hi bill ,that box tops album really surprised me I wasn't expecting it to be be as good as it is,my opinion great album. All the best Chris.
Quatermass an absolute classic - ended up picking up the Akarma Italian pressing because it's a double and includes some unreleased tracks that appeared on the reissued CD
👍
Great video again great finds. I agree with your proposal about Doors Records. They sound amazing and have great stereo feeling. Quartermass and Shuggie Otis are also among the specials.....
Hi I have many different doors albums but I keep going back to theid 70s reissues because they sound really good plus the right bass. All the best Chris.
The Shelagh Mcdonald is a great find..I have the title track on a folk comp and it's wonderful..an interesting mix reminds me a little of Nick Drake and early Kate Bush. Nice Family, " Only A Movie" was their final studio album from 1973..the follow up album of Charlie Whitney and Roger Chapman is better though in my opinion.
Hi rob ,stargazer is a great listen a real gem ,have to keepy eye open for more family getting into them more I hear. All the best Chris.
Wow, amazing haul! Carmen and Quatemass may be two of the best prog albums of all time. That Mick Abrahams is super rare, I've never seen one! What a great find. The one you have there is the second album by them. Their first self titled (1971?) is excellent and not too pricey.
Hi George ,I need to find more Carmen what an album also I'll keep an eye out for mick Abraham's first album as the one I have is very good . All the best Chris..
Shuggie Otis is a great album. Nice finds.
👍
Nice to see you like some of the 80s. Grate video
👍
Always fun to watch cheap pick-ups.
👍
Hi Chris, nice finds as always there. That was a really great story behind the Sprit album, very interesting. I am aware of it, but did not know how it came to be. I'll need to keep my eyes peeled for it as I love the classic ones on CBS and Epic.
Hi George the spirit album is a good one ,personally I don't rate there albums on mercury apart from spirit of 76,which is really good ,potatoland is very good ,prob not as good as there early albums but well worth searching out, plus it's very cheap. All the best Chris
If I lived in the UK I'd be broke!!!
👍
I like a bargain bit of vinyl - that Alice Cooper with the Pizza box is very cool 👌 I scored a load of £5 vinyl at an antique centre recently which is coming up on my next finds video 🎉 stay well 👍🇬🇧🫡 Oo Morrissey at the end too ! I highly recommend Vauxhall and I if you can find it (his best album imo ) ❤❤❤
Hi Gav I'll keep an eye out for that Morrissey album All the best Chris.
Nice to see the old girl back as requested 😉Mogul Thrash arrived and is brilliant!
👍
I found some very nice LPs at our local co-op here in Pennsylvania - including 2 German imports by Barclay James Harvest - "Turn Of The Tide" ($6.00) & "Ring Of Changes" ($7.00). Hadn't heard of those titles before - both on Polydor. (Maybe not released in the U.S.?) ...I love all of Ann Peebles albums! Don't think I have that one, though... I used to have that Spirit/Kapt. Kopter album in my first LP collection - need to find another copy! I do have Randy California's 1st Kopter LP on Epic... You found some classic albums cheap! Thanks for showing!
Hi bill, some great bargains to be had out there ,you just have to get out and look. All the best Chris.
Nice work. Easy listen
👍
Nice stuff again ✔️👍🫡🇬🇧
👍
Great video as always Chris. Thank you very much
👍
Three Friends on a swirl Vertigo is a great find. I must try and find Mogul Thrash as I'm a big Colosseum fan. Also the Gong trilogy looks good. I haven't heard much Gong and so far only have Shamal. Didn't Allan Holdsworth play with them briefly?
Hi yes I think he did at some point. All the best Chris .
The Hawkwind LP was a nice find! I wouldn't mind having any kind of re-ish on that one. I think I have it on CD, though... The Mogus Thrash LP looks interesting - never heard of them! ...I always enjoyed anything I heard by Gong but never saw those 3 LPs you showed! ...I do have something by Ozric Tentacles but I cannot remember what it was - buried somewhere in my collection.
Hi bill those going albums are pretty special now only are they thr best gong have done it probably some of the best prog,/,space rock there is put there. All the best Chris...
One of my best purchases ever was that Hawkwind album. Same pressing. Excellent condition. Car boot sale £3. 👍. You by Gong is indeed great.

Great video Chris! Just wondering what happened to your old mug that used to be in the window sill? I miss the old girl😀
Bless her ,I'll have to bring her out of retirement 😂😂😂
@ thanks mate I’ll keep an eye out for her return 👍Just pulled the pin on your Mogul Thrash recommendation off a seller here in Australia. Cheers!
That mogul thrash album is a real gem, enjoy. All the best Chris.
I was preparing myself to be jealous at a blue label Liberty 😀
Hi,I was hoping it was one but when it arrived it was a black liberty, the search continues lol All the best Chris.
Love your videos mate,,, awesome stuff,,,
👍
Great buys mate. Lovely copy of the Fruupp LP, looks perfect. I have their 1st and 4th so would like to get those middle ones. I just got 5 Motown lps on Sunday, including The Elgins, Martha Reeves and 3 Supremes. In recent years I've been buying better copies to replace those VG copies bought in the 90s at car boots etc. Scott 3 is magnificent, a masterpiece although Scott 4 just shades it for me. I'd also recommend his 5th 'Til The Band Comes In. Doesn't have the rep of the first 4 but deserves equal respect. Incidentally got all first 6 lps off a work colleague in the 90s for free. She'd been a fan in the 60s and thankfully really looked after them. Cheers Nige
Hi Nigel,I've only got Scott 3 and his first solo album, still need to find the others but just don't see them around in the wild much,if your into soul /funk look out for anne Peebles amazing vocals All the best Chris.
@@thesuffolkrecordcollector680 Yep mate, I've got I Can't Stand The Rain LP but would love to get her previous 3 LPs. Good luck with the remaining Scott's. Scott 2 does still pop up here so I'm sure you'll get one but Scott 4 is a tough pull and only going up in price unfortunately.
Some very nice finds Chris. I saw Gentle Giant in ‘74, an amazing show. Never heard of Frupp, sounds interesting. That Terrel album is in amazing shape, never see it over here. Scott Walker never really caught on over here as well. Cheers.
Hi,wish I'd seen gentle giant back in the day,but they just weren't on my radar back then, for me the Tamiy terrel
Album is about the best on Motown for me that is , All the best Chris.
Some good finds there, Chris. Power And The Glory is a great one. I've yet to "discover" Fruupp, but will start looking.
👍
Wow Scott 3. I haven't got many album grails left.. but Scott 4 is mine (I'd go to £90.00) but Scott 3 is right behind. I've seem 3 a couple of times but always battered
Hi Harris,I've just got scott3 and his first one which is very good and for whatever reason is cheap 20 quid touch,by the way I took your advice and found a mint copy of meat is murder, brilliant for me not as good as queen is dead but a real brilliant listen. All the best Chris.
@@thesuffolkrecordcollector680 Hey Chris Meat is Murder is great..I think i actually recommended 'Hatful Of Hollow' which is the early singles & Peel sessions & theres no crossover of tracks from Meat or Queen so thats worth looking out for! I think Scott 4 is amazing.
Nice stuff - that Tami album looks great Chris - stay well 👍🫡🇬🇧
👍
The rarest prog LP I found early this year has to be Trettioariga Kriget from Sweden, 1974, NM - $200.00+ in Discogs. Neither him nor I ever heard of this - he charged me nothing as it was included with a much larger multi-LP purchase. ...The Scott Walker LP you showed us is one I've never seen before so I must be on the lookout for that!
Hi bill Scott 3 is a real good listen with amazing cover are to boot. All the best Chris.
Hey Chris. I currently own all 4 Fruupp albums. You picked up a gem there. They were sometimes referred to as the Irish Genesis. Not exactly the same sound though as you say. Look out for Modern Masquerades. Probably their best effort. I grew up with this music. You are spot on with Scott Walker. I bought his reissues 2-4 but love my mono copy of Scott (1). I have just subscribed and looking forward to your videos. Cheers .......John
Hi,I need to find more frupp of I can ,the first Scott album in mono is a real great listen prob my favourite one I've heard of I'm honest All the best Chris.
I had never heard of Scott Walker until I started watching VC videos.
Hi Ritchie,Scott walker great artist ,also check out the walker brothers stuff to really good. All the best Chris...
Hey Chris, as a vinyl collector living in South Norfolk, I'd love to know what the record shops are like in Suffolk, if you could talk about your favourites sometime perhaps? Thanks
Fotheringay...superb. Bought the modern re-issue. Great album. I'm jealous.....
👍
Surrealistic Pillow is a tough pull here in the UK. I haven't seen many in 30 odd years. Fascinates me as to how many of these things were pressed, along with a lot of major label 60s psych lps. You would have thought a lot due to popularity/credibility in regard to JA but that doesn't seem to be the case for Pillow. Still only own a vg black label RCA so would love to mint up. Must admit I'd prefer the US version with the correct tracklisting. I need to pick up the 2nd Comus lp when I see it. I do own an OG of their debut which obviously wasn't cheap but it's been a cult and sought after record for decades. Nice looking Badger 😁. Cheers Nigel
Hi Nigel,so pleased to finally get an early pressing of surrealistic pillow, sounds amazing ,never even see comus first album, maybe one day. All the best Chris..
No badgers in ages and then two come along in a week on the VC ! Like buses 🚌 I want one now just for the pop up 🦡- great finds again 🎉 especially the Jefferson Airplqne
Hi ,one live badger is an amazing heavy prog album,I've only ever come across it about 3times in the wild in over 40 years, not saying it's a rare record but you just don't see it about, saying that there seems to be quite a few on eBay. All the best Chris..
@@thesuffolkrecordcollector680 never seen it myself either in a shop - will have a look online 👀! Stay well
@gavaxemanspins 👍
Saw Gryphon live better than on record. Richard Harvey did a solo on Transatlantic more classical than rock. Still interesting. My copy of Fothergay is original old and battered but it has the single with it. Thought Badger were on Epic my singles are. I rate Melanie when she isn't being childish. If you want a recommendation try both Bachdenkel lps similar to early Genesis but the singer is weaker. At the moment I am listening to Hunter Muskett excellent folkrock similar to Clifford d Ward
👍
Nice to see you bigging up Melanie Safka. Real shame she doesn't get many mentions. I have the Badger studio album but not that live one. Need to keep an eye out for it as I really like the studio album White Lady.
Hi ,I've not heard white lady so will keep an eye out for it. All the best Chris..
The amount of money you spend with him on the market he should be giving you discount.
Hi Chris, great find on the Comus album; this one though is in a completely different, softer style to their earlier album 'First Utterance'. if you get the chance to hear that one you must! It's blood curdling horror pagan psych-folk, amazing acoustic instrumentation, chilling songs. nothing else at all like it!
Hi yes utterance is on my to finds list but haven't seen one along with the album they did in 2009 I think,,I have never seen one but havent really been looking . All the best Chris..
Who says you'll never see a Badger in the wild?! That's a bit of a co-incidence given Martin then me following - cheers for the shout out 🙂 Top prices on Comus and Jefferson - I need to give that Comus record some attention, as it sat unplayed with me for a long time. If you can get the first album, First Utterance - it's like nothing else out there, totally unique.
Hi George ,I've been told comus first album excellent ,don't think I've ever seen one , definitely gonna be looking for that one,the one I showed is really good parts of it really reminds me of gong great listen. ,I've been into records on and of for about 46 yrs and I've only seen one live badger 3/4 times ,don't think people know about it. All the best Chris..
Great finds Chris. Amazing video again . UK release of Surrealistic Pillow is without Plastic Fantastic Lover, White Rabbit and She Has Funny Cars from the US release. But, it includes two tracks, Don't Slip Away and Chauffeur Blues, from their first album Jefferson Airplane Takes Off, an album that wasn't released in UK until 1971, as I saw in internet. Fotheringay is my favourite Sandy Denny's album but I have the US copy.
Hi,gotta say surrealistic pillow isy fav Jefferson album, really pleased to find it as just don't see them about on the wild these day's,the fotheringay album
Is just awesome , All the best Chris.
Hey Chris. Some great finds. I don’t think I’ll ever find a copy of Badger, let alone a mint copy like yours. That Fotheringay is a fantastic listen. Nice Melanie comp. Always worth waiting for a nice copy to turn up at the right price. Cheers.
Hi,the badger album is just fantastic,I'm not sure if it had a us release ,it's not easy to find here in UK either ,tell you what if I come across another one I'll let you know ,you never know it just might come together one day,I won't forget. All the best Chris.
Not heard Badger..will check that out as it'sbeen shown several times on the VC...Nice looking copy of Surrealistic Pillow, my favourite along with Volunteers. Fotheringhay is a decent listen but i prefer Sandy Dennys' first 2 solo albums. Gryphon has some nice moments, similar in style in my opinion to Amazing Blondel..mixing traditional with prog leanings. I had several Melanie albums but i found them patchy, although Gather Me is a solid album and probably my favourite, so i kept that one. Hope you're keeping well Chris.
Hi rob that badger album is a gem, heavy prog rock, recorded live and sounds fantastic, they did do one or two more albums albeit with a line up change ,this one def there best, not a common release tho..hope your keeping good rob. All the best Chris..
Cool T shirt Chris 🎉 good selection of finds - that REM is such a great album - totally unique- the IRS years were superb 👌
Hi ,prob rems best,I'm on a quest for all there irs albums ,I just don't see them about much. All the best Chris.
I envy you on your Smiths journey . Magnificent band , magnificent albums . You're in for a musical revelation .
👍
Hey Chris. Missed out on a lot of British 80s records which I’m trying to rectify. I only have Louder Than Bombs, but need the originals, which are pricey even represses. Love that Waterboys album, so good. I need that Slade album in my collection. I saw them open for Alice Cooper back in the day. Never really caught on over here. Lovely Stone the Crows. Maggie Bell solos are also worth getting. Some wonderful finds. Cheers.
Hi ,in my opinion that slade album is one of there best ,hard to find tho, even here in UK ,not sure if it had a us release tho All the best Chris.
Heard a band that sounded like Ten years after...alvin lee...Seems Alvin borrowed from
That first REM album is great. I like almost all their output. I was a big Smiths fan in the 80’s. I think there are lots of similarities with REM and the Smiths. Jangle guitars amongst all the synths and 80’s over production. The first four Cure albums are great and I only have them on CD. I’ve never heard that first Slade album. 70’s Bowie is the best. I saw Stone The Crows live in 71 when I was 15. Late 60’s early 70’s Aretha Franklin is great. After that she hoots and hollers to much. By the 80’s she was unbearable.
Hi Richie, always good to hear your comments,I don't think that slade album originally had a us release ,it's a real cracker. All the best Chris..
They were called Ambrose Slade
I thought so ,but wasn't sure
Some lovely records there Chris. Murmur is my favourite REM album, quality songs throughout and was never really bettered. OG Cure and Smiths records are tough to come by in great condition and expensive..Queen is Dead is essential, I love Cemetry Gates. Nice Ziggy, I'm fairly certain my copy is a genuine UK 1st press, but you've now got me thinking!. Very nice copy of the Dylan, incredible these 60 year old records survive in such perfect condition.Must've been purchased and stored vertically in a cupboard .
Hi rob, murmur is def one of there best, with the Bowie album a 1e 1e with no mainman credit on cover or label is a 1st ,if you have a 6e 4e with no mainman on cover but mainman credit on label it's the interim pressing also from 72,much scarcer than the 1st as only available for a short time. All the best Chris..
