If I had to hear a video narrated by a guy from Santa Cruz, this is exactly how I would expect it to sound like, bro.

Looks like too much weight was allowed on the pier.

That’s why piers in the U.K. are closed to the public when storms hit. We should be getting used to these wild weather events as they are becoming increasingly frequent and dangerous. Stay home and battern down the hatches unless you are in a flood zone or on the seafront then you get to higher ground and inland for safety. Definitely you don’t go into the water.

Why there was a crane there? And Why there was people there? are those people idiots? OSHA will love to hear about that operation with all that heavy equipment in an unstable pier. Damn, those people are idiots

I remember the Santa Cruz peer in the 70's having those huge relief holes with the heavy duty green painted railings. Picnic tables all around. In high wave conditions the water would shoot up and soak tourists that weren't paying attention to the wet puddles as they quickly went to the railings to see the huge elephant seals stretched out on the laterals tying the pilons together. I would visit the stagnarrows outside fish market and get a dounginious crab a loaf of Colombo sourdough French bread and a six pack of beer, I then would sit at the picnic tables by the relief holes and watch the fun "meaning the soaking of unsuspecting tourists" as I enjoyed my meal. I hope others that frequently visited the Santa Cruz peer in the olden days also remember that happening. I'm wondering now if the planning or engineering of the peer was changed causing lifting of the peer?
