KCGB The Boy From the Porch - This is a family memoir of our life growing up in Aberdeen Washington and the summers we spent at Columbus Park on Black Lake blended with the life of Kurt Cobain and the interactions he had with our mom in the summer of 1986 and when he returns to visit her in the spring of 1997, three years after his death. There is an extensive amount of vhs archive material that has been digitalized over the years and is being added here for easy KCGB indexing based on the memoir. I must give recognition and all rights of ownership to the number of artists, songs and movie influences that have inspired me through life and the writing of this memoir. Do we ever have an original thought? Or is it devine inspiration that leads us forward. If you are reading this you should subscribe as more content is going to be published.

Mid-race action as Dale Earnhardt moves from 16th place after a caution to 1st place in just 8 laps, passing Jeff Gordon. Of course, he gets the primary tv coverage and audio during this short clip run. A short hand wave to the car behind him is the signal to follow along and make the pass.

Neil Bonnett is back driving a Richard Childress car after a three-year absence only to get a tap from behind that puts his car into the catch-fence. A severe brain injury in 1990 put him on the shelf and into the announcer's booth. Fortunately, he was able to walk away from this one but was not as fortunate the following February.

Mark Martin has the race under control in the final laps while the real battle happens for second between Dale Jarrett and Jeff Gordon. Includes post-race interviews with all three. Dale Earnhardt is given recognition in a tribute video that was broadcast mid-race during the 1988 Daytona 500. When you think about the development of the Earnhardt brand over the next decade, it is amazing that this was already part of the CBS production considering the impact Daytona International Speedway would have on the family in the years to come.

1993 Diehard 500 final (7) laps plus post-race interview. Kyle Petty runs up front with Earnhardt and Ernie Ervin waiting for the right time to make a move. With 4 laps to go, a dip to the inside, with help from lap traffic, opens the door. Ervin gets a slight lead on Earnhardt on the final lap, but with some nifty side drafting at the end, the #3 feels the wind and inches ahead by a sliver to ...

1992 Martinsville Race # 8 of the season. Mark Martin pulls away on the restart with 4 laps to go. Sterling Marlin is the only other driver on the lead lap. A late caution comes out, and Martin does not let Darrel Waltrip get past him to get his lap back. Remember those days, racing to the caution? Then on the re-start, Waltrip totally messes up any chance Marlin has to race Mark Martin by not ...

Brian Bosworth "Up Close" with Roy Firestone
Debris going into the crowd is nuts
He pulled right now and got just enough side draft to ease by! The dude could just out think and out move everybody!
We lost so many drivers in 00/01 move should of died. The Hanns Device should of been enforced well before Adam died. Blaise Alexander JR death after Sr was the last driver we lost before NASCAR enforced the Hanns Device. Blaise Sr almost sued NASCAR if they didn't do something with the safety barrier. Jr was best friends with Jimmie Johnson, what if Blaise didn't die? Would Jimmie be a 7x champ? Would Afam be great like his family was in NASCAR? Rip
If we talk about a driver who should have won a championship, that's Mark Martin.
I used to watch Roy Firestone every day...love it
Dreamy
Neil should have quit driving the next day!! He would still be alive today!!
Ryan preece sucks 👌
Ryan preece sucks 👌
Neil should be in hall of fame.
"I didnt have enough racecar to beat him, but he didnt know that" hahahaha thats why mark martin is my 2nd favorite driver, right behind jbj
Amazing video! Very touching
The Thunder Challenge for this in NASCAR Thunder 2004 was truly hard to beat
Joseph I never thought I would see this SNL short again! In the summer of 1978 I was a bus driver for a visiting team, and we stopped at Grays Harbour for a double header the first night and the second night for a single game. I met most of those players, listened to an old organist mess up my anthem completely ( very funny actually ), sat in the stands for free behind the plate, got approached by several young girls as I was wearing the same ball cap as the team I drove around, and had an all round good time. A few months later as a devoted SNL fan I watched as the "Olympic Stadium" showed on the screen and there was the team messing with Bill Murray. I kinda freaked out. I told other people about it and no one believed me. Now I can't believe that this showed up on my RUclips feed. Thanks so much for it. I'm 68 years old and like John here I had a great laugh too! Two days later we were in Walla Walla. That was not much fun. Score after the first inning 13-2 for the home team. Very quiet bus all the way home......and it was a long drive.
That is a great story to hear. Two of my friends were the batboys that year, one for the home team and the other for the visitors. I found a VHS copy on eBay so I could get it to the family. Here is a link to an article about the team that year. www.foxsports.com/stories/other/the-summer-of-bill-murray. Also there is a movie out now called "The Hill" about Rickey Hill who overcame a disability to play pro ball. He was on the GH Loggers that year and they won the NW League Championship. Thanks for the reply.
@@kcgb-the-book Great article - thanks for that. The team I drove? The Victoria Mussels. I imagine they played the Loggers a few times that summer, so I don't think Murray was there when I was. If he was I am totally bummed out now! But it's great to know that he played against them. On a side note the Mussels organization stiffed my boss, the owner of the charter bus company I drove for. He got about 50% of the invoice, so I never drove them around again. The team seemed to like me and my driving, so during the trip they said I should quit and be their full time "bussee" as they called it. Many of them had played for a New York State team ( most were from North Carolina ) and had a great driver there who took them everywhere. I said "Maybe just hire him again?" "Can't" they said, "he got murdered" in a tavern after a long night of drinking with the team. "No, but thanks for asking" was all I said.....
I’ll never forget this night, screaming at the tv when the 24 closed the distance. That rear shot of Rusty’s car with the Du Pont logo bumping his ass out of the way. Good times, much simpler times.
That generation's 2 Gentleman Racers battling for the win. Definitely was one of the most popular races & race finishes of 2002. 😊
Johns sister was HOT!
4:27 RIP Gaylord Perry
Normally I would be all over Gordon, but in this case I don't think he did anything wrong. It seems to me that it was strictly one of those "racing deals". To Dale's amazing talent and credit he never stopped driving that car - even after he flipped. Every other driver would have taken thier hands off the wheel and called it a day after that, but not Dale.
Wow, for those of us who grew up watching the "Original Cast" of Saturday Night Live, finding this and posting it on RUclips was truly a gift to all of us. Thanks for posting and making a 69 year old remember and laugh about great comedy from a long gone era.
Johnny Bensen Classy Guy remember this day like it was yesterday 😊
Them are some sweet football moves, cousins!
Those Pontiac Grand Prixs were cool race cars. Love when the underdog wins. Hope Johnny B can win in SRX.
The best video of this wreck, its crystal clear in sight and audio.

Love Hearing From Adam How Special His Dad Kyle Is Too Him😊❤
Back when we all loved Teresa. 😂
I'm glad that Dale Jr was there with his dad.
Evil greedy witch, Teresa, put her ugly mug in for some attention. 💩 I never understood what Dale Sr saw in her. she later destroyed DEI and damaged Dale Sr 's legacy.
Dale Sr won more Daytona races than anybody.
Dale Earnhardt Sr, the greatest racecar driver in NASCAR history. Of the three 7 times NASCAR cup series champions, he was the only one that wasn't a cheater.
craven was choking a bit there when he missed his breaking point, the way he was moving his steering wheel, dude was panicking, if that was loganus or kyle busch or whoever modern driver was in his back bumper they would have fat out wrecked him, that was some clean driving by dj
I know they both have their faults but this is why the old points system was cool. These guys would do anything to not DNF! One position in one race could mean a title! Now if they scratch a car, and have a win already, they just put it on the trailer
The last thing you ever wanted to see in the dash mirror was the black number 3 behind ya !
Still miss him till this day 😪
Still not over him being gone! Even more sad is Nascar died with him !
I watch that a lot , and that still gives me tears with Dale Junior and Michael Waltrip… I remember back in the 80s DW and Dale Senior were rivals and Darrell Waltrip calls them Frenemies !!
Michael Waltrip is so damn funny.
Nascar gave extra horsepower to junior...the other guys were racing against a stacked deck
Clown
Just think in 4 short years they'd be hauling that POS dead to the pig slop pile
Just another day at the office.
I'm sorry but if someone doesn't rest their life to save others, or lay down their life to save others, they aren't a hero. Quit throwing that word around and spitting on the faces of true American heroes who fought and died.
Talladega Earnhardt country 3
Jeff Gordon never dared to mess with Dale Sr. Ray Evernham often told Jeff Gordon to stay away from the #3 car.
They fought the hell out of each other a ton. The incident you're talking about happened once.
That shows the presence this man had. They go to Dale BEFORE the winner of the Daytona 500.
The GOAT 24
Jarred Ashley, FALSE. Dale Earnhardt Sr was the greatest racecar in NASCAR history. Jeff Gordon was/is a cheater. Same for Richard Petty and Jimmie Johnson. Dale Sr was NOT a cheater.
