Straight away I thought it was better as a 29er. That said I am now currently testing it again as a mullet. Both have their benefits, not sure which one I will stick with. I suspect long term I'll stick with 29er but yeah I'm currently back to mullet setup for a week or two to help me decide

Thanks for the feedback. I am a tall guy on the xl model so I think 29er is the way to go for me. Curious to see how you feel going back to mullet. Look forward to your next post. Thx.

I try to stick to a weekly release and I've about 6 videos uploaded as private, so the mullet ones will be another month or so away unless I bring them forward

I was seriously considering the Marin E2, but I want a mullet and pedal strikes are a no sale sadly.

I went back to a mullet last week and no pedal strikes. So maybe it wasn't the mullet at fault and more the fault of the wrong weight spring. Hopefully out again tomorrow still as a mullet

Hey cleggy. I have the XL with a 450 pound spring. I’m tall and weigh 300lbs. I’m thinking 550 pound spring. What are your thoughts, and can you tell the difference between the 450 and 550?

I have tried 450, 500, and 550 and all feel good over chatters roots and bumps, to me there's little difference in any of the three in terms of ride feel. The big difference though is ground clearance, the 450 for me definitely sits too low, could just be my sloppy riding technique as a raw amateur. Springs are relatively cheap and it doesn't take much time to swap a spring. If I were you I'd start with the 550 and see how you like it

@@MTBnGUNS At 300lbs I'd go with a 600+lb spring. My friend is 320lbs and sits at 35% sag with a 650lb spring as is looking for a 700lb.

@@cleggycyclist Well that makes sense with having the right spring weight/sag. I contacted a rep from Marin about the 2.8" rear tire sizing and they said that going to a smaller 2.5/2.6" rear tire may increase pedal strikes and slacken the head/seat angle slightly. It wasn't suggested sadly. A flip chip would have gone a long way to helping this issue.
