2mts FM simplex is alive and very much used here in Herefordshire/ Worcestershire. Lots of stations are using it. Plus if you call CQ on the ssb section you will usually get an answer. Sorry but 2mts is very much alive without all that horrible digital robot voice voicing going on. Digital is great and is a brilliant tool to have in our toolboxes. But I do find that I don’t have to turn too it very often as at the moment analog seems too be plentiful. So get back on S20 and enjoy it’s alive and well. Enjoy your radio. 73

Hi Stuart, I have only had my 991a for about 6 weeks I have tried to get onto wires x by your method but it wont connect what am I doing wrong , ? do I need something else connected to my radio or do I have to connect to a computer. Can you please help me.

I've just seen your video, and I'm having this happen. FT817ND with SPX-100 is great for listening, but the bands are still too noisy to get through. The difference is that my antenna is mounted on a tripod away from the radio. I've had 1 QSO on 80m SSB. I now have a FT891 which has a better receiver, and I'm continuing QRP SSB to see where I can get with a voice call. Tony G7NIZ

How is this done

I own an FT5DR, but this absolutely assisted me in figuring out what I was doing wrong. Didn't realize there was VFO/Direct modes in both PDN and Wires-X modes. Thanks mate!

The Hri200 is the last item I purchase from Yaesu. Could not get it to work and yaesu tech support could not get it to work. Not returnable. wasted money. Ports would not open, and had to restore my windows computer.

Stuart how do you connect your 991a to a hotspot ? I go to hotspot frequency and press X but it just won't connect although I can hear stations

Stuart, thank you for making this video. Question: When you were scrolling through the available YSF rooms, not the ones in Category 1, the scroll would stop every few entries and seemed to ping the room. Is this normal behavior?

Hello Stuart, Not sure if you are still monitoring this old YT I have an NOV for a DV Gateway... I have the FTM-100, Drivers installed, Wires X Software installed v1.53 Everything appears to be O.K and Working. I'm starting up the Radio in Wires X Mode, DX+GM+POWER However in the Transceiver setup... "Pre Set Search" is Greyed out, so unable to set it up... Any ideas.?? Just noticed, You have HRI-200, I don't, is this the issue..?? Many Thanks.. Dave - G8LIY / MB6ILE

Hello Stuart.. Hope you see this.. I have followed a few of your Wires X RUclips.. Very informative. There is one thing I'm not clear on... Correct start-up sequence. I have a new FTM-100... I have "not" connected it to the PC yet I have the PC "with" the SCU-20 Driver installed and the Wires X Software, I have not started the Software yet Should I first connect the FTM-100 in normal mode to PC so it gets picked up by the Driver... Then re-start Radio in Wires X Mode.. Then launch the Wires X Software or Launch Software, then Start Radio in Wires X Just wanting to understand if there is a "correct" start up sequence..?? Radio 1st, Then Software, or Software 1st, then Radio..?? Many Thanks...

I've just received my HRI 200 to setup my analogue FM node on wires x, silly question time but if I use my 857D as my node radio and my 991A to talk on I am assuming I will need to fit a dummy load to the 991A to be able to use in this configuration? Any help greatly appreciated de Steve M0LVL

Answered a lot of questions for an old G8... But can you elaborate on the DG-ID you mentioned..?? Are you saying if you use the DG-ID features so that that it is not "Public/Open" you can use without NOV..??

Not sure if you are still active on this..??.. Maybe I missed something..?? Are you saying that if you go to the DV Calling Frequency, Hit the WiresX Button It will automatically find/connect to a Gateway or Repeater if there is one can hear your transmission..?? Very new to this :) :)

Hi Stuart, can you help please, I recently set up the wires x software and updated the radios firmware FTM 100, just a small thing which i cannot locate in the support guides and that is when i press the DX button to access wires x the display goes into a flashing " X " as you would expect and also alternatily a flashing " P " , being fairly new to digital and this radio I just wondered if you had any idea what i have done, It only started after i connected the radio to the pc, Mike G7POG/M3MHM
