Turn Down for Tarkov!
Просмотров 133 года назад
I thought I'd make a video of me (www.twitch.tv/crushinbeats) playing Escape from Tarkov on Twitch. Chat can 'scare' me with alert notification.. and they (Envoy in this case) succeed to the point where I'm so frazzled I shoot my own teammate. Typical day in my streaming experience. I'm traumatized.

July 2019 Pond Update after filter rework

Sorry to dump all the videos all at the same time, I got a wild hare(hair?) and knocked all the videos out in one day. This is what the pond looks like after about 2 weeks of the new filter and new Tetra UV light, great product and they don't pay me to say that.

April 2019 Pond Spring Cleaning
Просмотров 2715 лет назад
Cleaning it for the first time since the end of summer. Its a mess. The pond is still filled with pollen, leaf parts from fall, decomposed garbage and tannin. I did a partial water change of about 150 gallons, changed out the activated carbon and rinsed the mechanical filtration sponges with pond water. I reveled my lavarock, predatory plant island and new plants.
DIY Swirl Filter and Bio Filter Upgrade Before and After
Просмотров 234 тыс.6 лет назад
DIY pond and filter. I was looking for inexpensive options to clear up my pond. The filter I was using was a simple bio filter I made out of a plastic storage bin. This had carried my pond for about 2 years, but I felt was clogging up to frequently and the mechanical filtration method (fine sponge) was clogging way to fast. I looked for other options. One I came across on some Aquaponics sites ...

6x8 68"x94"x22" Above ground pond build. I'm not a carpenter or qualified in anyway to say this is correct. This pond could collapse at any moment, you're doomed if you make this yourself. Just kidding, its fairly stable :) The plant is called "Tarrow" that I forgot the name for.

    4:53 bulkhead fittings are biggest rip-off. ~$19 each at Home Depot. They are less then $2.00 each if you buy black compression bulkhead fittings online…no caulk or sealant…compression!

    I am looking at changing the pond at my new house to be bigger and after having an in ground, I was looking at an above ground or partially in ground pond and using either 4x4 pressure treated lumber or landscaping timbers for the above ground portion was my idea. I like your design, but with regards to the shifting issues, I am going to try drilling holes about every foot or 18 inches and pounding in rebar so it goes down about a foot below the bottom of the pond for extra stability. I also think I might try steel L brackets along the corners to help hold it together though I think I will paint them black to look nicer with the wood. Thanks for the updates.

    It’s like when you girlfriend wants, and you only got a toothpick. Why fish keeper always want a bigger canister, cause bigger canister can hold more bio media. Water pass though the media, the beneficial bacteria will do their job. But with such little media, the bigger the canister is, the more water will pass by, not pass though the media. You can put more media, or just change to a really small container, which the media will just fill it up, that will make sure most of the pumped water will pass through the media, that will work much better, and the water will become crystal clear

  • @stevenchandler4218
    @stevenchandler4218 4 года назад

    Awww! Problem No.1 eh! I think you need to put battern screws through each join both ways being careful that the timber doesn't split as it has weathered now and uou could drill down through the timber and tap some rio or threaded rod down through the timber into the ground which will support the sides from bowing out. Just a little tip that worked for me. Good Luck man..

    check the direction of your swirl. I believe northern hemisphere water like to swirl clockwise & vise versa.

  • @ct2368
    @ct2368 4 года назад

    You need to route the water down to the bottom to swirl it down there.

    The swirl part is not going to efficient. Put a elbow on it and run to the bottom of the barrel. The pit a tee on the bottom of the pipe and have a some 45 or 90 degree elbows coming off the tee. That will cause a significant swirling motion going from the bottom to the top of your barrel.

    • @ronskopitz2360
      @ronskopitz2360 4 года назад

      Actually, no - it’s OK. The bacteria live on surfaces, not in the water column, so very little will make it to the UV

    If your pond is in the sun,build a simple awning or put up a shade cloth...that will drastically help with algae. Also , I'd get an aquatop UV sterilizer submersible pump for inside the pond as well. Getting a small air pump and putting an airstone inside the pond will help. I noticed you don't have much movement in the pump. An underwater circulation pump will help . I would do it all

  • @nbaker01

    I was just watching a few pond filters in a row, and one guy mentioned that if you run your pond input water close to your pond pump then it does not allow for a full pond swirl. Then he showed how by running your entrance water to the exact opposite side of the pond as far away from the pump as you can get it, that it creates a large swirl and changes out the most amount of water possible. I would say, that if you were to extend your white pvc pipe to the opposite side of your pond as far away from your filter, then you would have an even cleaner pond than you currently do. If you do make this update, make a new video showing the before and after..
