      Great question! There are many ways to study both business and leadership. One way is to go to school for it. Another is to read books or listen to audiobooks on each. We have a list at treebusiness.com/recommended-books-1 We also have several videos on various subjects on this channel, and we are continually adding more. There is a bunch of free information on the TreeBusiness.com website. And there are courses there as well. And we are working on adding more. These are great resources, but the list is not exhaustive. Keep pushing forward.

    Thanks for the video. I started my tree service business Feb 2023. I do it on the side and am hoping to turn it into a full time business, but am also still testing the waters. I have a bucket truck and dont necessarily plan on climbing, but have considered learning how to. I see myself having 1 to 2 employees working with me and don't necessarily want a huge business. You mentioned tree biology, pruning and safety. Can you recommend some first courses to take in those areas? I am not sure I want to invest the time yet in becoming a certfied arborist until I am positive I will be doing this for a living. I have taken a day long pruning course hosted by the city I live in which has been helpful.

If you know before you climb that youre allergic to anything that stings in trees and could send you to zero BP, why wouldnt you pick a less risk averse career so you can wash your dirty skivvies rather than throwing out your soiled ones whenever you meet a pissed off troop of defenders. I’ve been cutting trees since I was about 9 ….. getting certification is just way tooo expensive…. The test from what I understand is not easy but I’m sure I could ace it … why do I have to spend 10s of thousands to be certified by you when I’ve been cutting over 30 years ?? What makes your word so special that I can’t afford to attempt the test …. It seems to me just some bs scheme to keep money flowing in certain directions…. You sit at a desk and talk about work when I’ve actually done it day in and day out every day.

    • @thetreebusiness
      @thetreebusiness 2 месяца назад

      The cost of certification is NOT tens of thousands of dollars. The Study Guide is not required, but it is highly recommended. It is not very expensive at only $98.95 for members or $139.95 for non-members. The application to prove eligibility to take the exam is free. The exam fee is $170 for ISA members or $280 for non-ISA-members. ISA membership is not required, but it is only $135. If you elect to take the computer-based exam, there is an additional fee of $125. You could buy the material and take the exam for around $400. And it will open doors to projects you have previously not had access to. There is no scheme. The video will explain many of the benefits of becoming Certified.
