Figured I'd leave some feedback. I think you do a great job pulling in the art history and talking about the illustration styles. All in all a really fun look at this issue. But at halfway through, I started asking myself 'Where's the Hulk v Superman?'. By the end, you don't even attempt to answer that question. I think this is a good video, but the title is crazy misleading. You do a great job sharing your enthusiasm, and your voice cadence is great for this type of video. Just... it doesn't cover what the viewer would expect.
Thanks for your feedback! I understand where you’re coming from. The title was meant to be a playful nod to the comic’s title and to spark curiosity rather than suggest a literal battle with a winner. My goal with these videos is to focus on the art, creators, and history behind the comics rather than the characters themselves. I’ll keep your thoughts in mind moving forward to ensure the content aligns better with viewer expectations. I appreciate you sharing your perspective!
Steve Rude is a master. Wish he would do more Marvel/DC
I absolutely love the ‘Mister Miracle Special’ he did for DC in 1987. You can learn a lot by looking at Rude’s comics!
These hulk faces are too good!
Steve Rude can't miss!
I just subbed check out his comic stories‼️
Thank you! 🙏
The suits that they use for the house of EL look like an homage to X-O manowar
You are right! There are some definite similarities.
Okay that’s dope the justice are once unlimited like the show the absolute universe seems dope too & final crisis is my favorite comic of all time tied with kingdom come
Final Crisis is EXTREMELY under-rated. I want to do a deep dive on that whole event someday.
¿Por que no pusiste a Superman en el thumbnail del video? ¿No sabes que esta de moda este año? ¿Y que no sabes que Batman es copia de Black Bat, el hombre murciélago que apareció antes que Superman?
I grew up in the 70s and 80s reading comics and I truly do miss the "flat" style of coloring, which was the only style due to print limitations. But, with limitations comes innovation and creativity and artists developed the style of inking that showed shadow and depth through line thickness that, even in black and white, make the subjects pop on the page. I'm not discounting the artistry of current comics by any means, but it just doesn't seem to have the same dynamic as the ones from the Bronze Era.
This book contains beautiful artwork. Thanks for showing us the book!
barf worthy stuff. Lordy!! i liked it tho'!
It’s so gross that you just can’t look away! He is such a master of the horror genre.
I think that if Daniel P. Abnett & Andy Lanning ( DNA ) were to do a run for transformers, it would be the greatest transformer run. Those 2 guys work great together and when they worked on the Guardians of the Galaxy, annihilation, War of Kings, Nova etc, everything was off world with different Galaxy's, an extremely sci fi and they had a awesome run for about 2 or 3 years producing incredible work. In fact, James Gunn consulted them for the first Guardians at a Galaxy movie because it was those two guys who pretty much put that rag tag group together. Taking away nothing away from Daniel Warren Johnson. I do have the Beta Ray Bill run which was decent ( some people didn't care for it, I thought it was a good origin story). Some people picked the Beta Ray Bill book up simply because there's not much on Beta Ray Bill. I missed the days when you found a writer who was so good that you couldn't wait for the next episode like Donnie Cates. Transformers needs an awesome writer like the guys that I mentioned. Think about all of the transformer video games. They were nothing in comparison to Fall of Cybertron that blew everyone mind away. So again, Transformers has yet to have that one writer to just completely knocks it out the park. Mind blowing writing is what a comic book run for transformers needs. Most people will buy a Transformers comic book simple because it's Transformers. But I need a great story, awesome graphics, something that's not predictable and mind-blowing like the stuff that Donnie, Dan, and Andy writes.
This is the only channel that actually explains what this comics is for new people in the hobby, and what connections does it have to the other comics thanks
I’m glad you found this review helpful!
I downloaded PDFs of them to read. They are good
The newest absolute batman issue was my least fav of all of the absolute stories tbh, it was very convoluted and confusing to me and the art was a severe downgrade from the other ones before it(maybe bc i got used to buff batman so fast)
im sorry but if it confused you you're probably just stupid
I think Dragotta’s art is a huge selling point for the title, so any switch up in the art is going to be a bit jarring.
they also got absolute martian manhunter, absolute green lantern and absolute flash coming out. the flash is being written by 1 of my fave writers, Jeff Lemire, so i'm expecting great things and plan to put it on my pull list
I’ve always thought these were Dick Giordano art. These are classics growing up in the 70s and 80s. Definitely seen some of these images as stickers or advertisements or cereal boxes and stuff. Beautiful.
Great video- I wasn't aware that the Absolute line started with All In until now.
Glad I could shine some light on this issue for you! Thanks for watching.
It's absolute peak is what it is.
Hell yeah! Glad you are digging these books!
The art work is incredible, and yeah the wonder woman design with the arm tattoo is an absolute masterpiece. Sadly I'll need to pick these up digitally.
I also enjoy reading comics digitally. A digital comic collection still counts!
Absolute as been banger after banger so far they need to print more copies tho cuz I have trouble getting issues.
Yah the hype has been real! I’m glad people are excited and picking these titles up. I hope they do some more reprints so you can get what you are missing.
This is not a reboot, but nice click bait Absolute DC is lit
Thanks for clicking 🙏 agreed, I have been really impressed so far!
Kind of love how the original heroes (Superman, Batman, WW, Plastic Mam, Shazam) are Primary colors, Sidekicks (Robin, Aqualad, Beast Boy) were a mixture of primary and secondary, and villains like Riddler, Luthor, Joker are secondary color schemes
Great observation!
That flip format is pretty sweet. Also loving those Wonder Woman page layouts. Thanks for sharing!
They really missed an opportunity to make all these comics use that flip-book format. Thanks for watching!
4:02-4:52-6:22 Supergirl,Batgirl and Wonder Woman arts is absolutely gorgeous!
I agree, Wonder Woman in this era was drawn really well. The artist did an excellent job showing off her beauty.
José Luis García-López is the man! I first saw his artwork way back in an issue called, "Superman Gallery" and just had to get more.
@@SylentEcho that was a cool issue...got a copy myself
I know the art is a few decades old, but I like how it's a standard for how the characters should be presented. Then the artist can draw them in their own style while not going too off model. To this day I can brows products and find the art from that book on products.
Great Review! i order mine to Argentina. Thanks
Hated Garcia-Lopez's style. Thank god that style never transferred to todays iterations.
What on Earth is there to hate about this style?
You hate his style....this is the best version of these characters that have ever been presented....you may want to check to see if you have a fever or have brain da
This is the best retro style I wished they stuck with
Lucky duck.
THIS IS PEAK
This is such a gorgeous book and some of my all time favorite art style!!! When I was about 5, I had a DC comics superheroes healthy cookbook that used all this style classic DC comic art. It was just glorious and I used to lay down white paper over the superhero illustrations in the cookbook and trace the heros. I need to buy this book!!
Great review!! What a gorgeous book! I was lucky enough to have David Mazzucchelli as a prof at the Rhode Island School of Design for my sequential art courses when I was in my early 20's -what an experience! He's as kind as he is insanely talented! His work will definitely go down in history as some of the finest pages ever drawn. Just beautiful!
This images are too small for me. Half the pages being white is dumb
Even to this day, anytime I see some DC merch and ask the kids "you know who drew that (Wonder Woman, Batgirl, whatever?" They know who I'm talking about. Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, baby!
this is sooooooo cool
These are THE BEST designs for the DC heroes - absolute perfection! JLGL is one of the all time greats, and doesn't get enough recognition.
Back in the 80´s, here in Brazil, we had a sticker album with many of this Garcia Lopez arts. It was the Super Powers Sticker Album. Cyclotron and Golden Pharaoh were figures from the Super Powers from Kenner.
I have that one Justice League spread as a poster, and it is Super Powers branded. It's one of my favorites.
Wish I had that book.
You can still order a copy!
This was my DC universe. My mind always goes back to this style when I think of the characters
These designs are iconic.
Excellent Review
Thank you for watching!
@@dangerouscomics FWIW the Robin logo you asked about - pretty sure it's the original version from when he was introduced.
Jose Luis Garcia the John Buscema of DC comics. Beautiful ❤️
I don’t know. John worked a decade earlier, but Jose’s art is much better, in my opinion.
@brianng8350 I was sort of comparing the in as icons for the individual company. But yes love Jose art immensely Batman Vs hulk is a feast for the eye.
this is great
It’s an amazing book!
Some of these are from the DC Roleplaying game 1st edition.
I need to check out that game.
7:40 the one in the top right was her 10th anniversary Heroclix pose. Little yellow plastic ricochet pieces on her bracelets.
That’s really cool they sculpted this pose!
a book like this should be worth at least $100 bucks or more.
It’s well worth the price!
wow, faboulous book. I am going to try to get it. I love the scans design of Zantanna and Red Tornado and Raven.
I hope you are able to grab a copy!
Came so close to ordering this at the lcs...held off due to other recent purchases. Now, I certainly wish I had just got it. Excellent book.
Well I hope this review helped you get your fix.
Beautiful art.
No one does it better!
