The Royal Hudson locomotive #2860 climbing a hill in Surrey BC, near Scott road. I have heard this is around a 3% grade, which makes it a very steep grade. The usual is about 2.2%. The Hudson has a diesel helper unit behind it, and they are both straining. From an excursion run on 2009-May-02
Old meets new

While my son and I were chasing the Royal Hudson, we came across a pair of CN locomotives in the CN yard in Surrey BC. The Hudson had just finished turning around on the loop track (the "bubble"), and these two diesels came by. We were mainly interested in the steam loco, but this makes an interesting video with both. Sorry for the voice over part way through.

    Made in America, not china, GOD BLESS THE USA, IN GOD WE TRUST, in 1954 with the communist anti-god agenda we added to the pledge, ONE NATION UNDER GOD. I am a pilot and flew an amphibious, it is fun. Please make sure you go to heaven and not hell for eternity. Repent accept Jesus as LORD of your life and savior, be holy and receive the baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT. I was like you and God spoke words to me and it changed my life, Heaven and Hell are real.

    @MrRockitRide The quality of German steel was not very good towards the end of the war, and neither were the German tank crews. The best German tank crews were killed on the Eastern front and Normandy.

    According to a US tanker hero of WWII interviewed on the show "Greatest Tank Battles" the gun on the US tank destroyers could penetrate the frontal armor of a Panther. To quote him "They were lethal". In the battle covered he said they backed off the Shermans and brought up four TDs to deal with the Panthers. The gunner on one of these TDs then commented how they blew the Panthers away. Too bad this powerhouse gun was not mounted in the Sherman.

  • @20YrBillionaire
    @20YrBillionaire 13 лет назад

    @gtamodman122 Anything is legal in the US if you live in the right state and have money. There's a guy who has a working Mig29 with 100% functional weapon systems. Tanks are actually quite easy to buy and relatively cheap as far as things go. A hellcat like this would go for about a hundred thousand dollars. A crap russian tank might go for $25k, and the "M1 Abrams" used in the first Transformers movie are up for sale at $69k each which IMO is a pretty sweet deal.

  • @gtamodman122
    @gtamodman122 13 лет назад

    @HONORGUARD308 "The M26 was underpowered and mechanically unreliable and so was withdrawn from Korea in 1951". That was 6 years after WWII. As for Shermans, they were severely outmatched by the end of the war by new improved german Panther and Tiger tanks.

    The M26 Pershing was a great tank and was definitely better than what the Germans had, but was produced too late in WWII (1945) to be effective like the Sherman. When the US started putting the 76mm high velocity gun on the Sherman as on the Hellcat, they found them to be a lot better versus the Tiger and Panther, but then again the number of upgraded Sherman did not start arriving in theater until late in the war. The best thing the US was able to do pre-upgrades was attack in great numbers.

    everyone thinks in ww2 germans have by far the best tanks, well the M18, M18 and M26 gave the germans a run for there money, even the M4 firefly and US upgraded M4 that had the 76mm could take out the best of german tanks, the yanks gave the germans a hard time and they both made great tanks, i still think the WW2 heavy weight winner was the M26 purshing tank, faster then german tanks, just as well armoured, bigger gun they ruled

    @sp1tf1re1936 Well, on 4 or more engined aircraft, not a lot. But on twin engine aircraft, C/R engines eliminate the "critical engine" factor. That is to say that because of various aerodynamic effects, the failure of one engine will result in performance that is degraded in comparison to failure of the other. There are several lengthly explanations on the internet and as a former shuttle commander, you should be able to find them. So there you go!
