These both sound amateurish. If you want something sounding as good as a C-800G for much lower price you have to use secret stuff that we don't want to inflate prices on. The only way to know about stuff like that is to be comprehensively megalomaniacal. I'm the kinda person that opens 10,000 browser tabs and has a database of thousands of recordings of different microphones. Maybe not worth your time. I know this stuff but maybe I'd be better off not knowing. The best use of your time is probably to just buy a used C-800G.

Nice comparison! To my ears I prefer the sound of the 103 it was more present and fuller imo. The WA had a good sound too just my preference.

The wa87 would be good for female voices and higher pitched men's voices to add more body to the vocal.

Just my humble opinion. For starters I will echo the sentiments of other posters in that the usage of the mics with no pop filter confused me. With that said, I own a TLM 102 (not the 103) which I really dig through and neve style pre and I just got the WA-8000 which I have not tested yet. However, I spent days reading about all the C800 clones before purchasing. When it comes to mics it's a gamble when buying if you can't try out a specific mic before purchasing as some mics just don't mesh well with certain voices. Thankfully the big online retailers are good about letting you try and return if it doesn't suit your tastes. Regarding this comparison, the TLM 103 sounded good, but to me, the WA-8000 had more depth. A more 3-d feeling than the 103 if you will. Regarding the comments about the 8000 lacking body...just add some with an EQ if necessary.

The thing that makes the Neumann so awesome is it does has that high end boost. But it's sooo smooth. O lot of bright microphones come with a bit of harshness to it.
