What is number 4?
seth son son s30v wore flannel on the day he was to rank his knife collection
You look and dress like a character playing a role in a movie
I thought no one understood and then I found Seth.
Now do a watch collection vid :)
One of my favorite knives has grey g10 scales lol. Whats wrong with grey g10?
This reminds me of one of my favorite movies Knives out😅😂
The 31's price point is justified because it.. has a unique sensory experience? It makes one snap sound vs two. I think we've lost the plot on folding knives at this point. I mean, when you have a collection like this I get it, this minutia can matter. But most people are not spending this much on folders. For "collectors" sure, but that same mentality also supports the crazy prices we see on pretty average knives at this point in terms of useability. To be clear, I built up a small Benchmade collection years ago but I just don't see the value on dropping money on folding knives once you have a few good ones. I reach for my Para 3 lightweight over my knives that I paid twice as much for almost every single time. You have valuable insight on what makes these products great, don't get me wrong. I just feel like this kind of thing normalizes the "bougification" of pocket folder knives. I understand build quality and materials cost money, but at a certain point you are just paying for the brand name. With a Sebenza, this becomes the most evident, and many owners go through great lengths to justify their purchase. Sure the machining is precise and the blade steel is great, and it will likely last forever. but so will an under $150 knife, that will likely have better deployment and locking systems (or are just more fun to flick). I liked your point about the Kizer Drop Bear because it has a reasonable price point. At the end of the day, 95% of people are best served with one or two $100 ish knives unless they just want to indulge the hobby and have a seriously disposable income. but at the end of the day, the knife market has gone crazy not even factoring inflation.
I paused the video a couple of times thinking i was going crazy faintly hearing my cat in the living room until i realized it was yours 😅
I put the Dozier in the tractor because I would never carry it but its fine for cutting hay string, I just couldn't get into the Ria at all. I was concerned when I saw them on the list until I realized they were still in the worst category.
solid first video dude!
Thank you, that means a lot coming from you guys!
Awesome intro🙂
Cat collection next?
Great video. Not to sound grim, but I have a honest question: what happens to a collection like this if heaven forbid something ever happens to the owner? I mean, I guess the easy answer is it goes to your family. But how many of us knife nuts have relatives that are knife nuts? My wife and daughter honestly couldn't tell the difference between a Sebenza and an Ozark trail. When I'm gone, I guess they could keep them based on how sentimental I am about them, but they honestly could care less themselves. Are all of our collections destined to be part of an estate sale where they go for little to nothing?
Ok this channel is absolutely underrated!! 😅 Gem of a video sir!!
W ow, I think over 50% of your Collection is Spyderco
it's hard to go wrong with Spyderco at that price point. They're built well, use good steel that stays sharp, look cool.
No coldsteel recon 1 tanto?!?!? 😮
I have a really old manix 2 with the clear lock mechanism on it. It needs some love.. where can I find a place that mods or sells mods for it? Also wanted to say, I really enjoyed the content. Well thought out points on many of these that I hadn't considered before. Subscribed.
Saw Delica 4 in thumbnail and skipped to the part where he confirms it is indeed an excellent knife, exits video satisfied with a purchase I made well over a decade ago.
Kizer Sheepdog > Dropbear
Only 1 kershaw? Any reason why?
Bro likes Spyderco I get it 🕷️
You should buy more knifes
That makes sense if you have hundreds of other knives designed for specific tasks but for the average person who only has a maybe a few high end knives, the PM2 is a great knife to have and carry and can handle pretty much anything you throw at it unless it’s an extremely specific task
Got to the Para 2 and had to call it quits.
Best Kizers all time, I’d say Militaw, Veratas, Hawk, Gemini, and titanium sheepdog.
Great video
This was an incredibly impressive video. I can tell that you hold a true appreciation for knives, and can really empathize with the types of sentiments that lead people to collect them. The fact that you had good things to say about every knife in your collection went a long way towards adding value to the content, and calming everyone's feelings, since even I came into this hoping to see my favorite knife near the top of the list. Given your presentation style, and your willingness to highlight the benefits of all the knives in your collection, I think this would have been an equally enjoyable viewing experience even if my favorite was at the bottom of your list.
Glad you enjoyed it! The ranking was a fun thought experiment and organizing principle for the video but you’re right, it's all about the knives.
im curious how you "test" these knives. how do you know how good they slice? what do you slice?
Whenever I accumulate a pile of cardboard I’ll grab 4-5 factory fresh or recently sharpened knives and do comparative cutting to get a sense of relative slicing performance and edge retention. Also, there are certain food prep tasks I do pretty much daily that allow me to evaluate the cutting geometry of the knife I’m carrying. Nothing scientific but it paints a blurry picture at least!
what mods do you recommend on the manix 2?
The only mod I would consider “essential” is a liner delete. AWT and Rockscale Design both sell scales that replace the (heavy, uncomfortable) stock steel liners. After that, consider a new ball-bearing cage for a more premium feel. I like the stock clip but there are also great deep-carry clip options if you’re so inclined.
Had friend who had huge collection had licence to collect flick knives you name it one day he had fight with his girlfriend got kicked out house so he put all boxed knives in his car slept in car park overnight cops come looked in his car took lot stating he broke the law as he was only allowed to take then to from knife shows not carry them in his car worth many many thousands dollars ,his fault really stated he going to his parents home journey was hours long no broke law they said destroyed lot he recons loads been sold as thinks some bought up by collectors he knew off .
I like that you gave some love to Moki Knives.
I love the chokwe wish they would make the rock lobster again in frame lock.😂 🙏
fam, what are you "using" these knives for? can we get video on use?
Guys i think he likes byrd/Spyderco
"My Wedding Knife" sounds like an indie band.
the most you've cut with these is a box. . .
I thought this guy was going to be European
You look like Micah Mayfield.
good choice on the 31, out of all of those knives id also choose the 31.
Spartan astor love it.
looks like you have a lot of spyderco
I think he likes spiderco
Awesome video and knives. Now I got some new cool leads to seek out. Thank you for sharing!
Bro sick collection! But how do you flick your sebenza like that? Do I need to break mine in more?
I like the collection, but holy crap you have a shit load of Spyderco to put it lightly. I had a rough count of over 41 Spyderco knives.
I'm an absolute Emerson nut but I too think the g10 is too aggressive. I disassemble every Emerson I get and take wet automotive sand paper to the scales. Lay the wet sandpaper on a hard flat surface and 15-30 seconds should do it. Might make ya throw that commander back in the pocket sometimes.
Watching $400 knives knowing I’m only going to open Amazon boxes with them
I might give Chris reeves another chance with that seb 31 but man I was so disappointed with the 2 I owned before. Quality seemed no better than dozens of other knives I owned but at 2x the price and they both developed a horrid lock stick and my umnumzaan had a slight blade play since brand new. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth
Spyderco ain’t all that
