What's good, senior seth. Weird openin, sure, but it felt right. Is there a possibility for a fixed blade review with nearly the level of familiarity, touchy feely insightfulness? I love folders, I've had tons and tons. But I guess about ten or twelve years ago I just quit hiding it and when those around me got settled into it, I found the acceptance I'd always hoped for. No longer a private parttime assassin in hiding. Lol. Thanks
I never sit through an hr I did this time great vid
If spyderco would put D2 on all of their 8cr13mov knives id be a customer for life
Nice to see you on your own channel with your own collection. Love the full length video format and opening scene. Subscribed.
idk why i dislike spyderco aesthetics but they look so bad imo
You dislike the aesthetics because they look bad to you? Answered your own question
I love the rounded scales of the wharncliff baby banter so much, but agree the blade is much harder to use. I swapped the scales onto my regular baby banter and that is possibly the best small knife. The knafs lander is also pretty good, but the baby banter has the most satisfying flick open. Will have to try out the runt 5 now tho..
Im curious if you have ever tried or have any thoughts on the CIVIVI Vision FG?
Yeah, the CIVIVI Vision FG is a better knife for almost everyone in virtually every way. It’s cheaper, easier to use (thumbstud), and easier to carry (conventional pocket clip). Only drawbacks are that it’s a little heavier than it should be, and doesn’t look as good as the WE Vision (imo). If CIVIVI ever makes a Vision FG without the steel liners I will definitely be getting one.
The coil nub seriously gets in the way! It is the most pronounced on the pm2
I have all of the knives mentioned here, and I put the Military 2 in my pocket the most. Rarely if ever reach for a PM2. At one point in time, I was indeed a fanboy of it.
Wow!! Thanks for this video, Seth. Get those KC exclusive Olive Drab Alox Victorinox Huntsmans going!!
I love everything about this video. Thank you for sharing, Seth!
Glad you enjoyed it! Good to see you here on YT.
I anxiously waited and watched to the end to see your thoughts on the Benchmark Claymore, which I thought for sure it was your favorite knife. To my surprise it was nowhere on your list. Nothing notta. That's when I realized you know nothing about knives.
spyderco fan boy
It's so annoying when youtubers think we want to look at them more tgan what they are talking about. The camera should be on all the knives the whole time. Nobody cares what you look like dude.
51:17 that’s something I will never understand; getting a knife (or a firearm, same thing) with the intention of potentially selling it is like making a child with the intention to put it up for adoption if it’s not at your liking 😂
29:06 with the amount of spyderco pm series in this video, I am now obligated to get one
14:28 I did the exact same thing with my edc’s. I always carry (have been for many years) the same 3 (4 but the forth as only been added less than a year ago to the small select club) knives, sometimes all 3 at at time but mostly 2/3 comes out while the third is on the knife bench getting some tlc. Well as it has been years and I still enjoy them just as much as when I initially got them, and I don’t plan on changing for many years to come (I still acquire new blades on a semi regular basis, at least once every couple months minimum) but none have dethroned my edc combo. All that to say, I love those 3 so much, I have a new in sealed box backup, hiden in a safe, for all 3 (haven’t purchased the backup for #4 yet). Once you find what is perfection for your personal taste/hands/chosen use case and start carrying it everyday, the last thing you want is for it to be sold out or worse; discontinued, if the time ever comes that you need to replace it. By having a backup already ready to go, on top of HAVING A BACKUP READY TO GO, thus no down time, you get to drown your sorrows of loosing your favourite blade by opening a brand new one in box without delay.
Not watching an hour long video but I skimmed through and didn’t see one CRKT, but lots of bitchmade knives. I can’t take this seriously
Glad you popped up on my my feed. Subscribed before watching. Great video!
Generally a Problem for me with spyderco, they have nice bladshapes but because they have no guard I would Not Cary them. Most of them would be a Bad Pick for Self defense, nothing to Keep your Hand from slipping on the Blade
So many knives around is bad Feng shui 😅
Great video! Unfortunately none of the knives I have made your list...I did find a few that I would like to purchase now which is unfortunate for my pocket book. I hate that they discontinue models... it's just like when they DC my favorite lipstick color. Thank you for the video and sharing your collection.
Certain colors for certain applications. Vibrant neons for possible chaotic use situations so it becomes less of a search for the blade because it stands out like a sore thumb
The PM 2 is one of my favorites of my large collection of Knives. It's in my rotation constantly
the thing is, a victorinox huntsman does the same things as theese (maybe a bit worse), and you have soo many tools at your disposal for a fraction of the cost of most of theese. honorable mention goes to the opinel no.8 the greatest slicer 10 bucks can buy. also the intro was very cool.
I love the pm2
I don't like any of them, they are all FAD knives!
No mater what, with a spyderco, you are guaranteed to have the maximum amount of derpy ass esthetics.
There were some major surprises for me. The spydie chef being rated so high. That knife with the massive fullers was a “what knife is that?!” moment. The OZ being ranked as low as it was. But gotta love this stuff. This is HIS collection and HIS list and I was here for it. Need to get me a Sebenza someday. I am sold. I own a umnumzaan but that will not be my only CRK now. This man LOVES him some spyderco, so do I.
I thoroughly enjoyed this, Seth! And I must say, it was awesome that there isn’t a single bugout in this beautiful collection of folders. I found myself agreeing with you on most aspects, like the pm2 and where it actually stands, and the Military being superior. If the Caribbean had a beefier aftermarket scales option, to give it a bit more rigidity, and thus, a better action and fidget factor, it would be one of the best ever! It’s a real miss, that no one has offered that yet. Speaking of the Military, and how tip down is indeed the proper way to carry and deploy it, a few years ago, I received one in a trade, and it had a deep carry Lynch clip, which sucked in my mind, until I tried it. It was a very noticeable improvement. Hard to explain but it’s better and also frees up some space at the top of your pocket. If you still love the Millie, I highly recommend it!
Seth, what do you think of the Gayle Bradley designs with Spyderco? The GB2 seems well loved and from my own experience I think the Advocate is really special.
They're great! I nearly bought the GB2 for the steel and the the hollow grind but the ergonomics had a sort of radial deviation that I didn't love. I did have a Junction fixed blade for a while that I very much enjoyed.
MMMMM, the Kizer Militaw and Varatas are asking you about the Drop Bear/.. #I love that sebenza at the end - wow the shine... but the money!
How many pockets do you have?? Nah just kidding great vid dude.
Made in order to use up Spyderco's excess stock of that steel, and sold like hotcakes. I found one for my son who loves fishing and he's crazy about it. The pocket clip is for a bag, not for a pocket (try sitting at a hunched over angle with any long knife in your pocket!)
Good points. Comparing it to EDC knives doesn't do it justice.
Glad to see your collection man, always loved your content on Knife center. Keep up the great work!
Yo..sup Seth.! Found your channel while surfing, Was rather surprised but pleasantly excited especially with that Lovelace collab..! DCA must be jealously proud of your new endeavour. All we need now is for Thomas to review all his bar blades. There is nothing like a bit of competition in the knife community upscaling the quality & designs Looking forward to your giveaways (maybe)or even do a swap/sales episode etc. It's kind of strange that we don't hear "larger than average". Excellent vid mate. Congrats mate, got yourself a new sub from Christmas Island & Australia.
That Braginets’ knife is Crystal Aurora. Some russian knife company.
Now fixed blades
Glad to see the Socom Elite so high up. I paid that knife zero attention until I saw one in a store and decided to check it out on a whim. I was sold instantly
Who makes your glasses? I managed to watch this whole video. Most hour long RUclips videos I can't. My ADHD won't allow it. I think it was your unique taste in knives. Most people are showing off their Benchmade Bugout and Spyderco Paras. Your taste in knives was very diverse. There were a good handful of trendy classics.
Thanks! Glasses are Oliver Peoples OP-L
Glad you made a channel brother! Could you show your sharpening method for a video?
Anyone have links for these? When the video first was uploaded I tried looking but couldn’t find these specific
Long discontinued, unfortunately.
So I promptly bought the Spartan Astor after this. It’s around $80 at several online retailers. Convinced I probably should save up for a CRK. Large Sebenza, but if I’m paying that much I really want the one that does it for me, not always the easiest since I’m a lefty.
Oh, the Astor! That's what it's called haha. $85 is an amazing deal for such a good knife. Enjoy!
Well, if this video doesn't prove to me that everybody's taste is different...respectfully, I hate ALL of your choices. There isn't a knife here that I would want to own. Not one.
sounds like I'm your perfect knife guide... just do the opposite of whatever I say and you'll love it!
That seems like way too many knives.
can't even disagree 🫥
My new favorite knife guy gets right to the point
I sense a strange disturbance in the force, as if the entire knife world has somehow been altered
I like Paramilitary 2s just fine, though for me, they are a little big to want to carry them very much. I prefer the Para 3, which always seems like a bigger knife to me, even though it is pretty small! They are, approximately, 3”/4” and 3.5”/4.5”, about like many companies produce, a smaller version and one a bit bigger (usually ~1/2” bigger in those dimensions). The smaller one is better to carry, and the larger one is up for just about anything! I confess, I use mine, but I have quite a few, so most of them don’t get used much. I am obviously a collector. I have customized most of them with aftermarket scales, in better materials than G-10 (I should say “more luxurious and expensive”). I must say Spyderco’s G-10, as nice as it is, seems a bit basic for such excellent, expensive knives. I think that in many cases, aftermarket scales can make a great knife even better.
No stone knives???
This is a great knife video but also a great podcast episode you can just, sleep while listening
