Yea the steam deck is WAYY more powerful than the RG556. It can only really play systems before Xbox/PS3 but it can also emulate some Switch games (about 50% of the games I tested were playable)

Thank you SpoonTaco!!! 100% agree - I think the horizontal build kinda tricks people into comparing it to other horizontal (16:9) devices. But the 4:3 screen puts it in a completely different category. It’s pretty awesome to have a higher-end 4:3 retro handheld option since there’s not many to pick from - especially in the horizontal orientation

Ong they put the dollar store ergonomics on this thing. The grips are both too much and not enough at the same time…

If you’re only looking to play switch games then jailbroken switch lite is 100x better! But the switch lite jailbreak requires soldering a mod chip so if you can find a pre-hacked switch, that’d be a much easier option

Nice!!! I was checking out the Razer Edge - looks like an android gaming BEAST… 6.8” AMOLED screen with a powerful processor is pretty awesome. It’s like a larger/more powerful Retroid Pocket 5. How do you like the BSP D8 compared to the Razer controller?

Yea definitely - I have about 15hrs so far and haven’t had any crashes or issues. I’m almost through the second palace. It’s been really stable emulation in Sudachi 1.0.2

Oh unfortunate. I think the project was discontinued because I was on their dis server and downloaded every new version when it released now I am not on it and their website is down I think because when you search uzuy you will get knock of website. I have no idea what happened and every archive on net with uzuy has older versions that don't include : Frame skip and generation frames. I need to contact some people I know who worked on this project and maybe get newest versions of uzuy archived.

Same! The devs honestly did a great job optimizing it. Runs pretty solid on these handhelds with no emulation issues

Unfortunately not, just tried it running it. I got sound working but video doesn't work. I read somewhere that Winlator isn't too compatible with Mali GPU's (like Retroid Pocket 4/Anbernic RG556)

Heyo sorry for the late reply! I think you mean Retroid Pocket 5 will have a Snapdragon 865? Emulation will probably be noticeably better on the Razer Edge too, given it's 16% higher CPU and 40% higher GPU performance. But interestingly, the stats don't directly translate to native android gaming FPS. I'm checking out some comparison results between similar devices and it's really close: nanoreview.net/en/soc-compare/qualcomm-snapdragon-875-vs-qualcomm-snapdragon-865 I think switch Emulation performance will probably be better on the Razer Edge. I'm guessing around 10-20% better, but I'm also concerned that the 6GB of RAM might be a bottleneck. Also one more thing to keep in mind -- FORM FACTOR. The Razer Edge looks like it has an awesome screen and refresh rate, but it has a Razer Kishi V2 for a controller, so ergonomically it might not stand up to the Retroid Pocket 5. I've found that comfort and controls are a big factor for me personally, so it's a MUST to consider your personal values when looking into these handhelds.

Unfortunately not, BoTW crashes on startup. Definitely needs a powerful device like Odin 2 Pro to run it and get a playable framerate

Just tested it out in Skyline, Sudachi, and Yuzu! Unfortunately, it doesn’t run great. Sudachi & Yuzu freeze after trying to name your character (the coach) so you can’t progress beyond that for any mode. Skyline is semi-playable but it has tons of 3D graphic glitches. Lots of missing textures when character creating. Then in-game, the 3D moments have insanely glitchy models that’s hard to tell what’s happening. Everything in 2D is perfectly playable/usable from what I played, no problems with any menus or 2D gameplay. Hopefully it’ll eventually be fully compatible in a future emulator, but for now it’s only semi-playable on RG556 with lot of glitches in Skyline Edge v72

Heyo! Sorry for late reply. Hollow Knight was running in Skyline Edge (version 72) at 1x resolution, handheld mode, all other settings default. That should give you a solid experience!

@MontoTechs yeah I got a modded lite for $180, so yeah. Btw wanted to ask which card is better, 1tb Sandisk extreme or 1tb Sandisk ultra ?

That’s an awesome deal, $180 for a modded lite is sweet! For both microsd cards, playing games should be the same experience. But for transferring a lot of games or adding more games, I’d recommend the Sandisk Extreme since it’ll have 4x faster write speed and 2.5x faster read speed. That’s the only real difference between them

@keepitshort4208 Yea that’s really hard to watch out for. I once got a fake microsd card from ebay and it was extremely slow & buggy. I think if you’re able to get a new Sandisk card from a good store or Amazon, then most likely it’ll be legit. I’d recommend testing the card out the day you buy it in case it’s buggy/fake, so you can return if it is.

It doesn’t come bundled with Switch games! It’s only capable of emulating some games. There’s a compatibility list link in the description

My previous RGG556 Switch Games video has some more games tested ruclips.net/video/icuVgDuHVvI/видео.html But we’re emulating these games, so bigger games might be incompatible or run poorly. You can find a list of compatible games in the description!

It’s a bit harder to reliably find a modded switch lite for $200. And unfortunately the switch lite is notorious for being the hardest switch to jailbreak (requiring advanced soldering skills + a modchip) so I wouldn’t recommend buying a switch lite expecting to easily jailbreak it! If you can find a modded switch lite for $200 and only plan on playing switch games, then I absolutely recommend playing on the original hardware!

One of our community testers said it ran great with some visual glitches, like different walls and floors in some rooms -- but those glitches didn't affect gameplay. There's a game compatibility sheet in the description with the other games we've tested out!

Oh weird. That sounds kinda like a problem I had with Fallout 3 in Winlator. The problem was that I couldn’t use the triggers while aiming. I forget the exact solution but it was something with setting triggers to analog. Maybe you can try tweaking your Input Controls in Winlator settings? Try setting your profile to none, or only binding analog sticks. Few things you can troubleshoot there. There’s also a kinda janky workaround where you can remap the analog sticks to act as touchpad sticks. I’ve found those are decent workaround but annoying long term fix. Let me know if any of those ideas help!

If anyone else is having this issue, I figured it out. Limit the FPS to 30 and set the triggers to digital. Every time you open oblivion on the Odin 2 mini, pull down the drop down menu and cycle "controller style" to Xbox, even if it was already there. The controls will always match up with the on screen buttons after that.

Game streaming is perfect for these devices! I've been playing No Mans Sky using Moonlight on my Odin 2 Mini lately. Being able to play games via streaming, retro games on device, and some modern switch games makes them awesome to have around.

It can dock BUT it doesn’t charge when you’re playing docked. So you have to either charge it playing handheld or play docked without it charging. Kind of annoying :/ The initial setup was pretty easy. Lots of emulators built in by default. I spent some time customizing it, like installing switch emulators and a frontend. The frontend I use is called ES-DE, which Retro Game Corps has a helpful tutorial on setting up! Both RG556 & RP4 Pro are awesome devices so can’t go wrong with either
