    Definitely not an improvement you can measure, I have gen 2 and I do get average of 170-190+ sometimes with multiple things running background and also on safari as well on iPhone, so this is definitely not a difference to be measured

    If You're using Starlink, You are not Off-Grid As an Engineer i hear 2 things very frequently from clients. We are going PAPERLESS we are going OFF-GRID As a company to go paperless is impossible (Try it sometime), Give it 6 months, Try not to use a SINGLE PIECE OF PAPER. You'll see... It's impossible. Going OFF GRID is not impossible, However it requires a certain type of person to do it and typically that person would not have a job in the first place, if they did it would be very very difficult . so it really depends WHY you are going off Grid. If it's too hide, Then you don't want to be using starlink or any electronic device almost if it's for the novelty of going off grid...... Well..... I guess you will break the rules from time to time but then later tell yourself that you are still off grid (Even though you're not) Sort of like when a woman says she's on a diet but then has a tub of ice cream or a cake and then says... But it's ok i'll go to the gym tomorrow Off Grid is not easy to achieve

    It was 30k to hook up to the grid or 27k for solar, if you get enough solar it is not a problem to run ac or electric heat to -30c all day long. Last time I ran the gen was march 6. This year I added more solar for the 100 days of overcast coming soon, worst case I use $200 worth of gen propane. My trailer is 100% AC power so no wood stove or propane in the trailer. 4 acres and a temporary home 184k CAD. Annual expense is 12000 CAD, when I turn 60 I will have an extra 1300 to 1800 per month to spend save or invest. I spend 4 hours a month doing all chores, time and money to spare. All the savings are in property price, and the property can make more money.

    Your not that smart for living OFF grid, lol, hydra power from 31sq" at a 12' decline over 100' is 70k kwt an hr. Powers my ENTIRE 5200sqft home, 3 freezers, fridge, lights tv computers fans well pump, everything in a large house, AND residual back to PC about 250$ a month back in bank. Looks like a hot spot at the battery cable posts. My guess is that you didn't use insulated ferrules, you just stuffed stripped stranded cable into the post and had a few stray strands, shorting the positive and negative posts.

    • @MIoffGridAdventures
      @MIoffGridAdventures 6 дней назад

      If that’s the cause, the ferrules should’ve been included or at least recommended in the installation manual.

    • @shabadoo.music.productions
      @shabadoo.music.productions 6 дней назад

      @MIoffGridAdventures it's standard practice to terminate stranded cable. The manufacturers instructions are more aimed towards a professional installer or atleast someone with a certain level of experience and competence working within high voltage dc power. Plus, the average consumer won't own a ferrule crimper. You can install stranded cable on posts without ferrules, you just need to make sure that the cable insulation is as close to the post housing as possible and check very closely for stray strands. If there are stray strands remove the cable, straighten the strands and try again. Easier to install the cables before mounting the controller if you're using the maximum gauge cable the posts can accept

    Do you think the gen 3 is better at picking up a signal than the gen 2?

    • @MIoffGridAdventures
      @MIoffGridAdventures 19 дней назад

      Not in a way I can measure. I have only seen speed differences

    • @martinkuliza
      @martinkuliza 2 дня назад

      Let me chime into this for a second. I'm an Engineer, Electronics and Telecommunications. as @MIoffGridAventures told you , He can't measure the ability of Gen 3 dish vs Gen 2 dish and compare them HERE IS WHAT WOULD BE REQUIRED IF YOU WERE TO DO IT - First you need a Gen 2 and a Gen 3 - They would need to be setup side by side and at the same time - They would need to be disassembled, Housing removed - Then you'd need a spectrum analyzer (2 in fact. 1 for each dish) and both calibrated identically and it would need to be connected on the PCB where the signal is incoming - Then the covers replaced and dishes aligned in the same direction Now that on it's own is a tall ask of anyone, and you would need to have deep Engineering knowledge to even interpret the results. But then.... After all the data is interpreted the only real REALIZED RESULT that is important is.... THE SPEED YOU ARE ACTUALLY GETTING AT YOUR ROUTER. Also... The ABILITY of one dish vs another dish to PICK UP the signal is irrelevant because even though Gen 2 May not pick it up as well as Gen 3. The Gen 2 dish may have lower amplitude of signal but better quality, which would ultimately mean Gen 2 will give you a better and faster speed and more stable signal Again. this requires a lot of experience and Engineering knowledge to understand why this is so. if you like, Do a course on Digital Reception Technology at some point and this will give you a basic understanding of the complexities involved Long story short... The strongest signal is not always the best signal As for the signal itself , Well....... All of Australia is covered , I'm assuming you're in Australia. if you're not , it's going to be a question of , is your area covered or not. If the footprint covers your area then..... the signal is covering your ENTIRE Region, so debating ABILITY of the dish to pick up the signal is pointless as.... A dish that can't pick it up is a faulty dish Now Gen 2 vs Gen 3 I would say there are likely improvements in Gen 3, otherwise why release it ? But again...... THE ONLY THING YOU ARE GOING TO REALIZE IS THE SPEED at the end of the day so... After that wall of text Can you see that his answer is the answer you're looking for ? LOL it's funny isn't it ? You ask a question He writes half a line of an answer and you're not satisfied I then write a monster post of a wall of text AND THEN YOU COME TO THE REALIZATION THAT................ OHH WOW, HE WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG LOL it's a funny world we live in

    The tape is amazing, but it is fickle, surface preparation is absolutely imperative. And you also have to activate it, which is a little hard to explain on camera, but before you peel the red backing off, you have to take a coin or a plastic scraper and just sort of go over it and activate the adhesive and it helps tremendously. Battle brand is superior no question about it, and though it's expensive, there are most certainly worth it. However, batteries and dealing with electricity in particular can be challenging to say the least. Often times when upgrading or switching from one style of brand to another or upgrading or increasing power, etc. there's a lot more involved than people realize. Zoe don't claim to be an expert, Often times the issues I see are user error. Just came across your channel I am now subscribe, Great video look forward to watching more of your content!
