Hi, TuneshKumar Kolindaivelu Pillai! I'd say that it takes typically 5 - 7 years of practice. This is only my perspective from the school I attend to. Here we have guided training of 3 - 5 hours per week and it really depends on the amount and quality of training you have. For example I have trained karate 6 years and currently I hold the 3rd kyu (1st brown out of 3). Because of my work I travel a lot, so it slows my progress. But karate is a lifelong journey, so there should not be hurry in training 🙂 Karate is also very good conditioning for all ages, specially for adults, so there is no age limit! I'd advice you to go for beginners class and stay consistent in training 😁 With high motivation and curious mind you will become Shodan✌

Thanks for comment Marcus Pacheco! I remember that analogy for the stained belt that keeps rottening to black 😅. Also saying "The darker the belt color, more you smell. So stay away from black belts"😂. Too bad that most people go martial arts for belts, but it is the thing that some people need for the feeling of progress. Belts can be compared to school grades in THAT specific school you are attending to. Only way I understand the fee for the graduation is that if there is some "license" type of economy for the school to teach under bigger organization. In our school we don't have any other fees than rental cost for the place. People can wear the type of gi they want to and the belts usually costs under 10€.

@@KarateEngineer explain to me how you would sweat through your belt and earn your ranks in 5 months.... BS can't get a black belt and under a year that's crazy talk. And yes obviously you're not the first Westerner to have this objection which is why they sell colored belts. You're not concerned at all that you got fed a BS story about belt colors? What else did they lie to you about? What lies are you disseminating? What else is fake? Furthermore if belts are like school grades do you ever have a student fail? Have you ever seen a 9-year-old in college? Doesn't it take a whole year to get through a grade in school? Your nonsense doesn't add up. I've taken kotokon style judo they have like two belts white and black technically the top white belt gets a brown belt. Doesn't stop any of them from training.

@@KarateEngineer I looked up your style. Which in itself doesn't make sense for traditional karate. Most of them are named after a place but there's no place called shito. Example kyokushin is Kyoto's karate club. Shorin-Ryu comes from Shorie castle. Shit-o comes from.... I couldn't find it. Ryu means barracks or fort as opposed to dojo which means school or club. There should be a shito barracks but there isn't. 😒 It might not be your fault you're so diluted, apparently the first karate fraud is your founder. He invented shit-o, shotokan and some defunct "half-hearted" nonsense. He must have been super human to have created three styles that take a lifetime to master in one lifetime. It's literally the guy motobu choki had beef with. The guy from Okinawa that other okinawans had never heard of LOL. Look at what his contemporaries thought of him - The ashida Kim of early karate. I suggest you go check out a kyokushin school a shorin-ryu school or kudo school. You know, an actual respected karate and see what they do. It's been 200 years almost it's time for the lies to stop. I suggest you put your ego aside and really examine if what you were taught was legitimate or not. You're not doing your students any favors by advancing them with false confidence. Colorful fabric shouldn't define your karate, your ability to defend yourself should. Every technique you show them that isn't effective is one they might use and get hurt. Does your Bunkai work in sparring? You know with actual resistance? If it doesn't get rid of it!

Sure he gets taken down he should could your green belt make it to that tournament? Do your brown belts look like the men and women in this video? It also depends on the style and school If they have red, red and white color belt at some levels or some stripes on black belt for indicating the level. Usually there is only black belt without any indication about the Dan level.

Hi Catherine Hintz and thanks for the question 😊👍 I know what you mean and many people pronounces the numbers like you described. I have even heard number seven (sichi/nana) pronounced as "his" and number eight (hachi) as "has". I think the reason can be that when numbers are used as "commands" they can be altered a bit, so that the command as a word is more noticeable and powerful. Like a one line. For example ichi -> ich+i or just ich. I'm Finnish speaker and in our language we have numbers 1 = yksi and 2 = kaksi. Many just say them as yks and kaks, without the "i" at the end. We don't have silent letters in Finnish languages so it is very noticeable. I think this might be something similar 🤔 I think it's not the literally "correct" way of saying it (ichi as "each"), but it's not wrong either 😅 This is only my view 😊

Dou itashimashite 😁 At least the reason for that is more simple. 😄 Gozaimasu at the end makes the word more polite and formal. Same applies to the word ohayo gozaimasu = good morning. It can be said more politely by adding gozaimasu to the end 👌🏻😁.

Thanks for the question Kevin ✌🏻 I'm 180cm and 80kg and I bought 180cm uniform. I'd say that depending your body type you should choose same size as you are, but if you are slim one size under is good also. I would advice not going to longer size, and the best option is to try the size they have and return it if the size is not ok. If you manage to get good fit, please share the info! 👌🏻

@@KarateEngineer ty for the quick response! Yea the only worry i had with going one size down, is maybe it will be a little short in the arms. Would you say this wont be as much of a problem?

@@Kevin-uz6pe This is the only thing that depends on your taste. If you are similar build as me (180cm 80kg), I'd say that going one size down does not effect the performance other way than having couple centimetres shorter sleeves and legs. As I have experienced, there is plenty of room in the uniform itself.

Thank you for the question Ali Mousa Kadhim! It all depends what you are expecting from the uniform. I'd say that it is definitely high quality uniform, but I don't think it's forth over 200€. I'm possibly going to make more critical review based to it's price-value ratio soon. Now that you asked, I think it's sad that they seem to be hiding the costs little bit. For example the place of manufacturing is written in KATAKANA but the MADE IN is roman letters. I'd understand this if the place of manufacturing is somewhere in Japan etc, but the location is Pakistan.. I think it is worth buying for good discount. I told in the comment of my previous video, that I got mine for 191€ (-23%) and I think that is pretty much value for it.

Everyone starts as white belt, but as your new Sensei recognizes the skills you already have, you might get permission to try graduating for higher level. Therefore I would say that everyone starts again from white, but your journey will go faster because your knowledge is not downgrading with the belt ✌️😉

That is the interesting part of martial arts 😄 You go to school and Sensei teaches you the stuff she/he thinks are important. You take the knowledge that is given, but it is also crusial to be curious about things out of the box of your karate school, and some times even question what is teached, if you don't see the effect. Your Sensei is there to give you guidance and as in any school, you take what you need to succeed, what ever your goal is 😊✌🏻

Hi Dario Milani and thank you for commenting ✌🏻 It is up to your budget most of all. If you are beginner I would use something around 60 euros worth so it would not be a pricy investment. I'd stay away from the cheapest "club karate uniforms". They are more like t-shirts (< 8oz). The type of cut does not matter but I'd buy heavier side of cotton. It's also good for your overall stamina training to have a bit heavier uniform (around 12oz). Also the heavier uniforms tend to be a bit more durable if you buy one that is good brand and good stiching. On my behalf, I can recommend Hayashi and Tokaido uniforms. I hope you find the perfect one for you 😁✌🏻
