Lou "negotiate" with Nina in the Mexican restaurant. One of the best scenes in 2014
Man. He plays the social awkwardness and inappropriateness just perfectly. What an actor.
4:10
You’re from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! 😂
The escalation in this scene is wonderful. From creepy comments, to a direct proposal, to a demand, to a threat, to a very researched detailed assessment of how much power he has, to final comments showing he doesnt even understand the difference btwn this and a normal human connection. They did a good job of making you feel for Nina even tho she had a kind of sleazy job.
Renee brings the characters whole life onto the screen
People like Jake, Robert Pattinson, WIllem Dafoe are so insanely versatile its astounding
oh and ryan gosling of course
Dude leveraged money for pu**y, what's the problem women leverage pu**y for money all the time. Only difference is this guy actually delivered. There's men in America supporting households and they're wives don't even fu*k them.
yo
0:49 Even Joe Goldberg would be disturbed, and he does the same thing. 😂
bro came prepared with threats just in case she said no🤣🤣🤣
In the first half of the movie Lou comes across as a socially hopeless character, but ultimately motivated to move up in life. As the audience we might have even been rooting for him. After this scene, it's revealed he isn't socially inept due to lack of understanding, rather that he's morally void and extremely calculating, like a reptile in human skin.
Damn this scene is disturbing. Be careful who you let in your life. There are real people like this out there, especially in the professional world
Misfits! A masterpiece of an album that world will probably never know about.
“i wanna be the guy that owns the station that owns the camera”
Good thing this movie came out when it did. The 2020's would have ME TOO'd the shit out of it.
Isn’t this kind of a psychopath? He knows how to fuck with you and make you think about your life before you decide what to do next and then you trust in them.
He is without a doubt a psychopath, or some form of it. He is hardwired very differently
My favorite scene.
He just translates perfect reasonable understanding and nothing else. This is evident that this is a staged and acted shot and not a real situation, but there's something haunting about the way the character (not the actor) behaves. This is not natural, but it just works. I know that Lou's considered psychopathic and asocial, I know that there was a moment of anguish (screaming at the mirror), but something just makes me praise Lou. He doesn't romanticize his flaw and bring deliberate damage and destruction like P. Bateman or Joker or Chigurh, he actually channels THIS into something creative. Watching the motion picture for the first time was just something. It's the year of 2024 (10 years later) but it still feels like something that might've taken place just yesterday. Unbelievable
What gets me is she appears to be at least 15 years older than him.
Although some parts of him did look psychotic like he seems to be so detached and calculating everything.. but he also looked stupid rather than threatening.. she could easily shut this with a no. And ok if she had to be transferred.
I hope I am correct on this count... That for my money, this is one of the greatest performances of all time, simple as that. Have never seen anything quite like this. Both from the acting, and the character creation point of view. All the mannerisms, line deliveries feel so bafflingly locked in. Gyllenhaal is MAGNETIC here.
1:32 The creepy brief smile after "Thanks for coming out to talk", hahaha. Gyllenhaal's acting is so awesome
she didn't like it but he had a valid point and she ended up winning at the end too 💯💯💯
Awesome rendition. Only wish it was posted louder, I've got it all the way to 11 and want more.
Bro got me looking up whether "flirtationship" is a word.
basically the same thing as a “situationship”
I love how his "compliments" seem mechanical and rehearsed, genius acting on Gyllenhall's part and makes sense Lou is someone who is a sociopath at best or psychopath at worst he cant feel normal human feelings nor can he interact like normal humans so he tries to emulate it like an ai trying to emulate feelings I mean its there but there is something synthetic about it
Those brows and nose tho 😂. Why use prosthetics? Lol
There is one redeeming quality that Lou has that kept me invested despite his sociopathy. There is intention and thought behind every action he takes and he takes everything seriously like a professional. For example, you can really tell that he took those pop business books to heart unlike most of us, who just skim through them to cope and forget about them the next day. Everything categorized, organized, precise. Admirable.
It’s uncanny when you come across these types in real life. It’s like your body is screaming at you “bro this person isn’t like you, they don’t have empathy or think like you, they don’t wanna be your friend they wanna possess you for what you have” and when you feel it and realize it during the conversation with them, it’s so fucked man. Happened to me once and I never went back to the inside of that damn McDonald’s again
Bro must’ve watched Fresh n Fit
and as a friend 😂
The way this is presented. Cause real crime then record it ! This is, real
He got that blackmail rizz 😂
This guy learned how to conversate from online tapes.
I mean, can you blame him? She’s hot
Lou does a great job in America and he would do a great job in Game of Thrones too, what a coincidence.
There is a subtle but unmistakable parallel between this scene and the Texarkana restaurant scene from American Psycho where Patrick Bateman has dinner with Paul Allen.
I like this guys atitude and ambition to get what ever he wants at any cost.
Sometimes I feel like when I talk to girls it comes out exactly like this lmaoo
I love this movie one of my favorites, one of the craziest parts that is a red flag in disguise is that fact Lou says “I watch my work all the time” considering the content is horrible/horrific/fatally deadly violent crime or accidents all that content without a break could lead someone to see human life as less insignificant but while watching/editing and figuring out what angles/lighting works best to film all the deadly content to make a HUGE amount of cash to own a news station hostage by withholding content to prevent them from getting views to make money themselves which is a power move and being rewarded; it’s like all the bad is good for Lou but bad for the city then he goes and causes half a city to get damaged from road/firing from the ending chase.Man is an alpha sociopath/psychopath and he don’t care about no one literally.A hungry Coyote as Jake G. described himself in this film.
IDK what all the Patrick Bateman hype is about. This man actually WON the game.
Pagal kollai
This movie masters real life situations. I was breaking down laughing the whole time at Lous weird social interactions.
The thing I love about Gyllenhaal’s role of Lou in this movie is that you can see that Lou is smiling constantly but you can see the evil behind his eyes.
Autists, we found our prince
Bryan Kohberger
Lou is a Corporation in flesh and blood, basically this is the beginnings of TMZ
Darn, we all have managers that play this tune.
Get him to play Joker
like shit ?? not best ? I LIKED HER BETTER IN TIN CUP ????? LOL
