Thanks Wystan!
Well said! Thanks for sharing :)
Really grateful for what you do. ❤
I really appreciate the content. Thanks for everything Wystan.
same ❤
Please get this guy back
I go to Science, I am stupid. I come to spirituality, I am stupid. I look at my life, I am stupid. Man, where do I go?
It's OK not to know. Awakening is a good direction to travel, in my opinion.
@wystantbs108 Yeah, that's okay. I no longer believe in religion, Buddhism or otherwise. I'm okay not belonging to any one community. I'll try to find my own salvation without any of the established religions. I have seen and experienced enough of them.
I want a lot of this star trek reincarnation stuff to be true lol
It would be funny if so!😄
Well it’s as likely as anything!
Thanks for this! I’d like to see more pointers from you
You guys look like brothers 😀
What are you drinking @6:10
Green tea.
cant stand horrible vocal fry in his voice, makes it un-listenable 😒 although the topic is interesting and important
Thank you for sharing, I'm sure this will be useful for me and many others - may you be well and free from suffering 🙏
Does asher believe all lives are more suffering than pleasure?
good luck with your pain! I hope you will be ok

Thank you for this. Do you have any advice for dealing with pain associated with head trauma. I fell down approximately 8 months ago and hit my head and am still experiencing some lasting effects. The pain is not primarily the worst thing; it is more just feeling like I have damaged my conscious experience in some way irreparable way, as I have always strongly identified with my mind and intelligence. The pain is just a reminder of that. Thank you again.
I had the same thing (for over a year) and for me that fear subsided once the weird sensations did. Don't see any behavioral deficits either.
@@herleikholtan7850 Hi, so your symptoms finally went away after a year? My symptoms lessened after about 3-4 months after my injury, but I still have some lasting facial and head pressure, and it doesn't seem like things are changing much. Did you experience gradual relief or was it more like one day you woke and just felt normal? I got an MRI, so I know there's no structural damage. Thank you again for your response!
@@herleikholtan7850 Thank you! Was your disease progression more gradual or was it more like you woke up one day with complete relief?
@@fuzzebear0074 Sorry for the late response. It was gradual. I had to do activities to get more symptoms, then rest until they were back to baseline. Then you get a sin(X) + aX type progresssion
Damn dude I'm genuinely impressed. I would not be holding it together that well in your position. Sending lots of Metta.
Great discussion! Loved the part about faith 45 minutes in
I want to thank you, Wystan, for making this happen. I've been listening to and learning from Michael and Vince for years and, now with a 4 month old daughter, deeply appreciate hearing their thoughts on parenting and how it relates to the path. Just to share a bit about how it's gone for me so far. My practice had really been ramping up prior to my daughter's birth, and because a) I was so concerned that it would drop off in parenthood due to lack of time/energy and b) was so reinvigorated to awaken for the sake of all, yes, but especially this one new special little being that my practice and overall commitment and devotion to the path have deepened wonderfully since she was born. Practically, there's less time for committed sitting, but this has led (finally) to real, concerted integration of practice in everyday life. This was something I'd aspired to and mostly failed to make real for years. Finally, with no other choice, it's happening. I also do a ton of practice lying in bed in those many sleepless stretches, especially in the first couple months. The difficulty and challenges have chiseled away at the more selfish parts of self. The joy and love have opened my heart in ways nothing else could have. Deep bows to my little teacher, and to all of yours.
So inspiring
Yay!! Thank you for this interview :D
You're welcome!
Does awakening or enlightenment negatively impact a parents ability to deal w the responsibility of raising children? I’ve seen some non-dual awakenings that are honestly scary w lack of affect, and no motivation to do anything… I can’t afford such a radical disconnect from my life and family. Any thoughts?
If your awekening lacks in compassion and cause you functional problems as a human being it needs more work, Michael actually talk about this a loooot, didn't they talk about this in this talk? I have to listen to it yet but did you listen to this full conversation?
@@Lipinki.luzyckie yes I did listen to the full convo, they didn’t address this specifically. But i appreciate your input, as I had thought that was the case and it makes perfect sense. I think lots of people dive into this stuff in an unbalanced way and it generates weirdness.
@@RedRabbleRouser Yes, i would be also very interested in this topic. I have the feeling that the radical nonduality people bypass also what makes us human. Just focusing on no-self, non-duality states and pathologizing thoughts and the sense of self is dangerous in my opinion. Our default mode network is not only there as an evolutionary mistake but serves empathy, value alignment, fantasy & imagination, orientation & agency. In a way, I am much more interested in Rob Burbea stuff or even Carl Jung for this reason. Loch Kelly & Michael Taft seems also rather aligned on this... at least this was my impression.
Interesting regarding 7:05 the thread of is a philosophy making your life better? If it’s not then is it worth pursuing? Surely there is bitter truth that might not necessarily make your life better? Funny how I’ve been reading an extreme example of this, Drum roll “Benatar’s the human predicament and if you have a pretty grounded physicalist view, yes it’s pessimistic but lots of seemingly true things described in there.
Expanded on it well after nvm
i’d like to hear more about qualia as a coherently wittgensteinian position (properly understood). re: behaviourism (properly understood) if anyone knows books about behaviourism a la ryle vs technical (meditation) language games that would also be helpful
Looking through texts trying to find that juicy jewel to help me practice better has indeed been mostly for naught.
Exceptionally cuddly cat.
KITTY
i love this style, it also scares me a little bit lmao, but i love it ❤
Romeo is so balanced and thoughtful. Kind of wild
Bit of a tangent: what is this recording platform you're using that makes local recordings and stitches them together?

Ron is great! ❤ Dharmachanics ❤
Should definitely continue to ask Roger how to pronounce his last name on every podcast episode he's on. As a bit.
Very nice
I think the seeing through the world thing in the visual field can be achieved by scaffolding up to 'through', by way of first paying attention to seemingly parallel lines and following them to their vanishing point, in a linear perspective sort of sense. Can follow such lines to vanishing point away from observer, and even towards and behind observer, up/down too
Very nice
What methods are you talking about at 7:43?
Very nice

He’s got a pretty thick layer of depression stuck in his astral body/meridian system. May he be successful in practice ✌️🙏
I enjoyed this conversation. Thanks for posting. I did find that the host was overly eager to demonstrate his own knowledge. He frequently labels the guest’s attempts at explaining his grounded experience before the guest has even finished speaking. He labels these with confidence. I wonder whether all of these labels from different forms of Buddhism are helping or hindering his journey. That said, I like both people and hope to hear more of them in future episodes.
Practicing Theravada, Vajrayana, Zen, and Dzogchen has left me with unwieldy parallel, though I find complementary, contemplative frameworks. I'm excitable and have a tendency to babble. I've gotten feedback the other way, as well, that I don't speak up enough or add to a conversation. Interviewer vs conversational partner. Different roles. Not sure I do either well, often. Silence is almost never wrong, though.😄
These people are not messing around Great watch
This One Great Matter of Life and Death is no joke. It can be quite a laugh, though!
With regard to the point about the asymmetry of self regard leading to distorted moral perceptions, it seems to me that there's a simple ordering claim to be made: one can, in this mode, perceive the relevant symmetries first (moral reasoning is often predicated on such) and then figure out how it applies to oneself (after all, you both need to figure out how to actually instantiate the beneficial action, but you are also included in the list of beneficiaries). If instead one mixes up these steps, one is less likely to correctly perceive the symmetry in the first place. Very similar to the Veil of Ignorance, but phenomenological rather than analytic/conceptual.
Great spending an hour with you two. Thanks!
Great interview! @36m you speak about early buddhism having different practices for different types of people.
dissatisfaction versus indestractibility
Fabulous interview. Many explanations of critical aspects of Buddha Dharma that are helpful. Thank you.
Wonderful
The problem of evil raises the "problem" of good, because good and bad dependently co-arise. So in some some funny way, "problem" gets cancelled out, and one can get down to the much more important business of investigating the causes of suffering (for oneself and others) in direct experience. And seeing "The Dawn of Everything" on your bookshelf just gave me an even greater boost of confidence in your eloquent teachings ;).
i would actually be really interested in you two just describing and investigating the differences between you post MCTB4th perception. Like even for a full hour. Lots of pointers and probably generally very interesting!
