Flosstube 41: Mini WIP parade and life update
This episode is CURSED. Cursed, I tell you! I recorded it twice and lost both recordings. Then when I finally got it recorded and edited, I couldn't get it to upload. So I've been trying for about a month. I have no idea what I talked about, tbh.
So, I'll try to watch and then come back here with some links...

Love the book format ❤
Glad to see you back. So sorry to hear about that dreadful experience you have had. Hope things continue to improve for you, and we see more of you soon. Take care. Lots of hugs.
Thank you!
Wonderful to see you back and looking brighter. I hope things continue to improve and you can enjoy your month later in the year feeling more positive. Looking forward to catching up soon. Big Hug xxx
Thank you!
Good to see you Ros, sorry life has been rubbish..glad to hear you are on the road to recovery, take care
Thank you!
Lovely to see you back on flosstube
Thank you! I have missed your videos too.
I'm always so happy to see one of your videos pop up! I am intrigued by your new stitch along, especially about combining fabric and stitching 🧐. Looking forward to learning more soon! I am so sorry you've had such a rubbish couple months health-wise. I had an experience in college in which I was so shocked by how I was treated and dismissed that I couldn't even respond in the moment. It's a hard place to be in. But I am glad you have someone new for treatment and that your work is being supportive.
Thank you. I am excited about the SAL and enjoying getting it ready to launch. More info soon!
Lovely to see you back. You've been missed! So sorry to hear about your health troubles, I agree that women's health and mental health still need promoting. And how have I missed your patreon???? Off to check that out right now!
Thank you! And yes, absolutely. Women still get a raw deal in so many ways.
Good to see you back and all chatty about what you love. You’ve really had a terrible experience the past few months Ros. Hopefully the HRT will continue to work some magic and let you get back to being yourself and coping better with all the things. Advocating for yourself when you are in breakdown is tough. Well done on getting through to them. 😘
Thank you! You’ve been such a blessing through the dark times.
I'm so sorry you had to go through that with the locum doctor. I know how it feels to freeze up in medical environments. I hope things turn a corner with the new medication. Much love.
Since recording, things really have improved a lot, thankfully. I’m sorry you’ve had similar experiences too.
Lovely to see you back. Some beautiful pieces. Sorry to hear you are having some health issues. Hope your struggles continue to improve Take care, happy stitching 😊❤
Thank you!
Sorry that you are going through so much.
Thank you. It really has improved a lot since filming.
Nice to see you again, Ros. I’m sorry for your health struggles. That GP is a disgrace. I’ve had some terrible GP appointments myself in the past and it’s disgusting how little some of them know about mental health conditions. Upping an antidepressant dose on a temporary basis is downright dangerous and she should be investigated but anyway I’m glad you got the help you deserved in the end. Look forward to your next video whenever you’re ready 😊
Thanks, Laura. I’m doing so much better now, so hopefully I’ll be stitching and posting more!
Nice to see you back, sorry you seem to be going through the mill health wise, hope things continue to improve. Love the pieces you received and sent for the swap, take care x
Thank you!
Love the rabbit
Love the pocket book idea and the needle case is beautiful. Love love the ladt book idea too. 🤗
Lovely to catch up with you. Fab to hear about your holiday and see what you have been working on. Hope you're doing a little bit better. Lovely to see inside your shepherd's hut - you were ahead of the trend there!
I think I was on the cusp of the trend rather than trend-setting!
Hi, I'm Tammy from Israel 🇮🇱. I found your flosstube only recently. I was amazed to see the NFE notebook cover with Hebrew. I was even more amazed to hear you speak Hebrew....... how come you know Hebrew?
Hi Tammy and welcome to the channel. I don’t speak modern Hebrew but I did my PhD on the Song of Songs, so I do know some Biblical Hebrew. Obviously, there aren’t many Hebrew charts out there, so I did my own. It takes up a lot less space than the English translation!
I am grateful (and interested) in your silk display/explanation as I am about to sew the sides of a pincushion in silk and so I will be changing to cotton. Lovely holiday.
Yes, I think that’s a good decision! Save the silk for something else.
Thanks for the silks discussion. It’s a whole new world to me, I’ve only tried one or two silks and minimally. Loved seeing your embroidery work from the holiday. It’s beautiful and the holiday sounds wonderful. Take care my friend.
The holiday was really special. I do need to get on and finish the embroidery, though!
Ros, please don't feel rushed... I only posted it because I have a tendency to forget where important things are
No, it’s fine, I was just a bit surprised to get it so soon!
Wow, the stork is absolutely gorgeous!
It really is! I do want to finish soon while I still remember how!
I did a Long Dog sampler in Au Ver A Soie and really enjoyed it.
I can imagine. It is lovely thread.
Hi Ros, it's a Caron waterlilies thread :). hope your holiday has been wonderful and relaxing
Thanks! Yes, it was a really lovely holiday.
Sorry, I've been on a flosstube break due to work/study/flosstube oversaturation and this afternoon I decided to crochet and binge watch your videos. I'm going in order and still way behind but enjoying myself. First of all, just wanted to say I'm so sorry I didn't know you were not feeling well physically and mentally, I should have reached out to you earlier but I hope that you are doing better now! It's awful to not be well and not have anyone to help you out with small things like washing the dishes. Glad you have the dog though to take you out for a walk! :) Secondly, very interesting thinky thoughts about different tastes in cross stitch. As you may know I like to try all sorts of things and it really depends on my mood what I like to stitch. I often try things and then realise they don't really work for me for various reasons but it's a bit of a process of exploration which is also fun in a way. Many stitchers I follow call themselves 'process stitchers' and I'm starting to identify more and more with them as I'm finding that it matters less to me what I will do with the final product than the fun of making it in the first place. I can't imagine I will ever have a house large enough to display all the things I make and nor do I think that they would all go together. There are projects or crafts I just want to have a go at or enjoy seeing come to life that I don't necessarily see myself ever put up on my wall but I still enjoy working on them. I guess my point is that maybe not everybody necessarily thinks so in depth about the final destination for their crafty projects but more enjoys the process of making them and being part of the community by stitching things similar to what maybe people they follow stitch, participate in stitchalongs and such. And through trying different things you may find out that you enjoy something you didn't think you would (or that you don't enjoy something you thought you would...) and you may discover something new about yourself. Just my thinky thoughts on this. PS. I really enjoy your mini webinars on various topics, from physics to Northern Ireland, you're a very educational craftinh channel!
Hi, Natalia! No apologies needed. I know you’ve had a lot on your plate as well. Yes, that’s a really good point about process stitching. I do enjoy the process, but for me the product is always the main point.
What a lovely stitching companion your video has been. This is my first visit, I shall be back. I hope your Italian trip was wonderful.
Thank you! so glad you enjoyed it. Italy was amazing.
I hope you enjoyed Tuscany. I love Florence. Congratulations on your Patreon launch.
It was wonderful!
Loving what you're sharing. Have liked and subscribed.
Thank you!
So many new finishing ideas! Thank you for sharing! ❤
Thank you for sharing some great ways for finishing 😊❤
Thanks for watching!
These are fantastic!!! I have moved them into my SAVE file. Thank you🤓
How fun to win one of your needleminders! I look forward to the surprise. Your birthday gifts are all so beautiful - isn't it lovely how a special gift can be made even more special when it's really, truly *you* too? Your craft retreat sounds absolutely amazing! And I am so looking forward to the Patreon experience too.
Absolutely! Thanks so much for joining my patreon. There will be more about stitching in Italy coming soon…
How lovely! I’m so happy to be a winner, that’s such a fun surprise! Thank you so much! Have an amazing trip to Italy! I’m just outside Boston, Massachusetts. I’ve never been to Europe, one day I hope to go. Maybe even to Stitch London! Thx again. 😍
You’re very welcome!
Great video Roz. Best of luck with your Patreon channel. Love your birthday gifts. I hope this decade is incredible for you. Your Italian adventure sounds amazing. Take care, best wishes from 🇮🇪
Thank you!
I love your birthday gifts - some beautiful work there. I look forward to receiving a needleminder. Enjoy your break.
Hi I'm so thrilled to be one of those lucky people to get a needle minder. Lovely video as always 😊❤
Wow, I’m a little bit green eyed over your holiday. It sounds amazing! I hope you’ll share all about it when you’re back. Hazel’s gifts were very sweet and Sally’s button box, well, now your button box is a stunner. Yes,there was a little bit of cahoots 😉 and it was fun trying to “Ros up” a Blackbird Design! So glad you felt a little spoiled for your celebrations. Nice progress on your Gekko Rouge. I think half stitches will be great for the sky. Hope the Patreon goes well and grows the community you’re looking for over there. Enjoy your break!
It is glorious. Even though it rained all day, today. I was blown away by the button box. The finishing is so amazing. I love that ‘Ros colours’ and ‘Ros-ing something up’ is now a thing.
Ros what a fun filled flosstube…Sarah, Sally and Hazel did a great job…I ❤️your holiday plans..crafting in such a setting ..how fabulous. Lovely to be a needleminder winner 😊 Look forward to May 1st and all that brings
Thank you!
Ross I love that Box! Exquisite
I am very lucky to have such clever friends!
Happy birthday… it definitely doesn’t seem a year since your last birthday! Hope you had a nice day x
Thank you! I had a really lovely two days of celebrating!
Hope you had a great 50th Birthday. Great video as always, Happy Birthday 😊❤
Thank you!
Hi Ross what a wonderful video. I love to listen to you and what you think and creatie. I want to wish you a wonderful Day (i stitch in hand don't need a needleminder) but will wish you a beautiful Day 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you!
Happy b’day … I have plenty of needle minders too so will say it that way and not be in the mix! Hope you have a great day
Thank you! 😊
Happy birthday Ros - I hope you have a great day! Love the Song of Songs book idea.
Happy birthday for this week! I do support people on Patreon, mostly podcasts who offer me ad free versions, but also Pin and Tonic's pin of the month club, which actually ships every two months, but it is very cheering to have enamel badges come in the post.
Thank you! Something coming in the post is always lovely, but I would find it very stressful to commit to sending things out.
Hope you have a great 50th birthday Ros, enjoy the celebrations!
Happy Birthday! Hope you have some good things planned for the big day. Hope you're managing to progress well with a book - the thought of writing a book terrifies me, a thesis was bad enough but I know you have a few under your belt so I'm sure you'll bash it out quickly. I think Patreon could be a very interesting avenue. TBH I'm only subscribed to one and I don't make best use of it - I mainly signed up to get a chart. I think your SAL was amazing - there was a lot of work in both the chart and the videos and I think that deserved to be financially recognised even if that isn't the primary motivator.
Thank you! I had a lovely afternoon tea with family today, then plans with friends tomorrow, and a special holiday later this month. Yes, the SAL was what made me start thinking about Patreon. Not just financially, but also the way of building more community. Instagram is getting worse and worse for that, and RUclips hasn’t ever been good. It was so much fun seeing people’s progress on the SAL, but I would also have loved to chat with everyone about their colour choices and what they made of the videos and so on,
Happy Birthday Ros! 🎂🎉🥂You are very sweet to think about giving away prizes for YOUR birthday. I like your Patreon idea. What I’ve enjoyed about your videos is the mix of other art mediums in with cross stitch. I see you as a bit fearless as opposed to me - I have ideas that I don’t always execute 🙃 I would love to check out more content from you. Thank you!
Oh, that’s such a nice thing to say. It’s cheering to know that there are other people who like a mix, despite the algorithm’s attempts to pigeonhole us all
Enjoy the 50th celebrations this week Ros 🥳
Thank you!
Happy birthday for this week Ros (I’m not just saying this to get a needle minder BTW, hope it’s fab) Love your finishes …especially the two MFE pieces. I would be right up for a patreon 😊
Thank you!
Happy birthday Ros ❤
Thank you!
