Flying over the Rocky Mountains in a Sling TSI
I picked up my new Sling TSI one months ago. This is a video of the epic flight home. It is truly a bucket list type of flight. We picked up the plane in Idaho and flew it back to Mississippi.

230mph in a Sling TSI!
Просмотров 24 тыс.Год назад
On a recent trip home from Houston Texas to Pascagoula, MS we had the tail winds in our favor and hit 230 mph ground speed in the Sling TSI. This is an incredible plane to be able to get those kinds of speeds on only 8gph of fuel.
I just discovered today that a neighbor in our sub-division (League City, TX) is in the process of building a Sling (not sure about model?)! He has a partially built VANS-12 in a shop close by! He invited me to stop by and lend a hand building! I thought that was pretty cool!
Nice sling I’m looking to go ahead with a purchase , how are you liking it?
Doesn’t this far exceed your planes VNE?
That was ground speed not airspeed.
Dummy
Only applies to the IAS not groundspeed
Next time in Houston let me know I would love to see a Sling TSI face to face! I live in the Clear Lake area!
Will do!!
It's all fun and games until you have to turn around and fly into that 58 knot headwind
Sure helps when you have a 50 knot tail wind.
I SEE. VERY INPORTANT. HO IF RECRACTABLE
Love the style of the video! I'm one of Aaron's friends from school btw
I used to live in Pascagoula. This was back in 88. There was a bit more going on there back in those days. Plus Diehard with Bruce Willis was about to come out. Best Christmas movie ever. What a time to be alive.
Love the color scheme on your aerie.... I think I've said that before though..
What price is the Sling tsi. Please
$250,000 usd
Don't like your attitude
We’re in knots nowadays. Lol
Yes but 230mph sounds more impressive!
@Slingit_Aviation Try kilometers for your European audience
Where can I train in a sling light sport with a parachute?
If you are in the US then you can check with Sling pilot Academy in Torrance, CA
How do you like your Flying Eyes?
I do like them. Just got them recently and they are very lightweight and do not interfere with viewing the glass panel. On the down side I typically like using a pair of croakies which don’t work well with them.
Could you do the video with sound? Thanks!
An impressive performance by an outstanding kit plane. That's even better than my turbo Mooney. I wish somebody could offer something like the Sling TSI with just a tad more power and FAA certification so we don't have to build the beast.
Yes great results and this was at 11,500. Up around 15k it would be around 155TAS. It is great to get so many features for a fraction of the cost of a certified plane. If you ever wanted to learn more about the build you should reach out to a build assist center like Evan Brunye. He can guide you through the process pretty painlessly.
How can that be more impressive than a turbo Mooney? You should see 170 to 180kts in that. It’s all relative to altitude and a tailwind. For example I’ve seen 260 mph over the ground with 26 inch tundra tires…
If the new FAA MOSAIC rules come through, the Sling can be certified as an LSA. SO that means they can sell fully built planes. I've got my fingers crossed. It's a capable plane at a good price or the times (would be nice if we could go back to the days when a plane cost as much as a car, but that's not likely)
With a retractable version too!
@@banyantree8618 I'm just impressed with the performance they get out of the TSI with just 142 hp and fixed gear!
Did you get build assist on this Sling?
I actually bought this one as the second owner. I was about to pull the trigger on a build assist when this one came on the market and it was built by the builder I would have worked with.
@@Slingit_Aviation Looks like Evan Brunye's work! Especially with the lights on the overhead! Beautiful plane BTW
You are correct! He builds a great plane!
@@Slingit_Aviation How much did you pick it up for?
What was the fuel consumption?
I see 8.3. Same consumption than a Porsche macan. Cool
Yes I was running at 8.3gph at that moment which equates to 28mpg. I usually run around 7.5gph.
Consider that it’s 8.3 gph or 28 mpg, at 170 mph! Any car that could reach that speed would be getting less than 5 mpg going that fast.
Can you do a video tour of your plane, and the features in it, it’s legit dope !!
Sure. I’ll put one together soon and post it
TAS 144 kts, 54kt tail wind= 201 kts GS.
Correct. This is 230mph ground speed.
Which, coming home in similar conditions, would be 104 mph!
Cool video, nice plane, I’m in the market for a plane.
Good luck finding the perfect plane!
Sweeeet
Tailwind.. ground speed
Keep it up! Building my Sling 4 as we speak!
Do they still sell sling 4 kits?? I thought they only selling the TSI and High wing kits
@@sicelogeorgeson7212 actually it's a TSi. I don't even know how I said 4. I am alodining my right wing tomorrow. Happy Martin Luther King's day!
Nice!
