Wide or Standard?
@@snipersgetmorehead11 hey bud this is wide thank you great users name thanks for your service
I like 30 but I’m weird. Just be sure to remember that 60 lets in less light, so shutter must be at least 1/200 to get no jitter at night, and iso must be higher with 60. But go for what you like! I think for fast rides, 60 is good. 24 is mimicking analog cinema film, 30 is broadcast tv standard. 60 is best for fast action and smoother.
Yes, shooting at 30 frames per second can allow for more light, but the long exposure mode works very poorly with the digital stabilization of action cameras. This approach is more suited for systems with optical stabilization. Modern action cameras all shoot with ultra-short exposures, which results in a choppy image. A cinematic look with 24 frames per second can be achieved on something like an Osmo Pocket 3 with a gimbal and an ND filter, but not on an action camera. Moreover, as seen in previous videos, the camera performs perfectly well even at night with 60 frames per second.
@@babyboy1971 you’re the best, question for ya, ok so I have the action 5 in my hands, for the shutter adjustment which I’ve never done, I tap pro then is it where the ev adjustment is? Like I tap s or and I see loke 1/30- whatever and a bunch of 1/100 - whatever Are these the shutter settings? Thanks a bunch I’ll do a video with the shutter not on auto.
@@diAx007 thank you both, so I’m about to head out on a ride around the neighborhood and I’ll do 4k 60, and I’ll repost , comment when it’s done if possible!
Yes, and by the way, you can shoot in 60 frames per second, then process it with stabilization in Gyroflow and create a cinematic look at 24 frames per second. You can set the shutter speed to match the full frame duration, i.e., 1/60 This will also allow you to slow down certain special moments if desired.
@@diAx007 thanks so much this gives me a lot to digest, I’m currently using resolve so I’ll read up on the gyro deal! Thanks again
Please shoot at 60 fps it’s much smoother and more enjoyable to watch
i'd be happy to, the current one is uploading now at 60fps, thanks for the feedback! ETA about an hour! ;D this is the feedback i need!

Seems people are watching for the a/v quality. I'm gotta admit the quality has improved a lot, but it's all about the motorcycling for me. Thanks for posting. At one point I could hear the crows cawing!
@@CubertEtc a/v quality is temporary for the next day or So, kind of a community feedback thing to get all dialed in. Thanks so much for watching and man I’m glad you commented, any videos you’d like to see me do?
@@MattsMotorcyclesDaily For me, since I'm still in the learning phase where there's death around every, I find your commuter videos very instructive. It helps me figure out how to gear down for turns and things like that. At some point, it would be cool if you did a video of your narrating all your steps. Like, literally every little step, as you come to a stop or that roundabout. I'm specifcally confused about slowing for a corner cause it feels weird for me to flash my brakes but at the same time throttle so that I can downshift.
@@MattsMotorcyclesDaily Also, a winterizing video would be cool, like a recording of you doing maintenance stuff.

What is wrong with the video quality btw? (Asking after reading comments) it looks a bit sharpened and HDRish, but still epic! Getting myself one November end, dropped the idea of getting gp13
seems to be pretty good. The sharping is default so can absolutely be lowered! Thanks for the feedback! How’s the picture quality look to you ? I’d give it a 8.5-10 personally I’ll do a few tweaks those are stock settings.
@@MattsMotorcyclesDaily I am tired of my gopro hero 9, from that this looks like a great footage, will be using for self vlogging, can't wait to get the action 5 pro (Getting the adventure combo)
I can't get over how good that camera is man. Even in the kind of flat conditions of a grey rainy day the colors still pop. How did you mount it? Is it easier than expected or do you need a specific helmet, or??
@@_Rezzik that’s why I wanted to post it I was at first like I dono it’s kind of a boring ride being rainy but then I figured it would be a good test if the low light color range but during the day! Thanks again!
@@_Rezzik any helmet works it’s a chin strap mount available on dji site or Amazon
What settings do you think are best to maintain good stabilization? It is for MTB videos at night. Possibly it would be better in that case to go down to 30fps?
@@mikelgaldakao in my personal opinion I’d say ultra wide, rock steady, stabilization sport , iso 100-25600, in my opinion yes 30 or 60 is fine, set bit rate to high. This gave me a funny idea, I live near a world class mountain bike area. Should I do a mtb ride pov?
@@MattsMotorcyclesDailyOn a motorcycle everything is much smoother. In MTB the camera suffers much more because of the stabilization. It would be a good test! 😍 Anyway, your motorcycle videos are also great for me, because I want to shoot some video on my Z900.

hi mate, if I shoot in DLOG, in what app can I apply LUTs? Can we do it in mimo? can you advise.
@@greatvedas hello friend, I can advise , the lut profile can be applied in Mimo app but I have a even better solution for you. You go to dji website. Or on google it’s called “dji action 5 lut rec” and it’s a file. You download that file. I recommend da Vinci resolve for software editor on pc desktop or laptop, it’s free and can export in 4k. In the color settings on davinci. There’s a literal DJI section! Normal looks really impressive. Even without finessing the settings it looks very natural and realistic to me, but I think a lot of sophisticated texture and noise reduction is being done. It looked pretty good before the update so it's kind of surprising it improved by this much. And we can still go far with all sorts of changes to the settings like tex and noise, the ev, shutterspeed and lowering the ISO even further in some situations (because I think the bright streets probably looked brighter on camera than in real life), to get different looks that will still be gorgeous. Same goes for the DLog M footage, that probably wasn't applied with a LUT yet? But Nightmode looks absolute garbage! Jittering and juddering and very unsharp. The lensflare trumpets were sharper than the rest of the entire image. I even got a tiny bit nauseous like seasickness or something. I think they didn't optimize the processing for that mode with the changes they brought to the rest of the shooting modes but I suspect that the Nightvision mode will get a separate update that specifically targets the 51k ISO range. It probably requires a completely different codebase to work with input with ISO cranked up to ludicrous. Thanks for testing!
@@johnsojourn9114 yes, I agree on the sharpening, I had better luck with high iso regular. And there’s another firmware update today ha, so I’ll get that and keep on testing. Looks great! Definitely they improved the supernight. I just posted a quickie vlog/video of the super moon that I did last night in supernight and regular with new firmware. Pro Tip: If 60FPS, keep shutter at 1/200-1/8000 or 1/240. Always quadruple that frame rate for low jitter with night lights, especially when moving. ;) This video looks better than the last one you did at night, especially in terms of super night. Supernight looks WAY more natural now. Also, FYI they released ANOTHER firmware today! Same patch notes, but much larger file, so be sure to grab it and download it!
If 60 FPS during the day should I just do double the shutter speed to 120 or does the quadruple still apply?

new firmware, default settings! 4k 60fps, ultra wide, rock steadfy, stock everything else, haven't touched texture or noise settings since the update, looks really good. thanks again! also, NIGHT MODE video coming this morning! almost done uploading. stay tuned! thank you, it's my favorite motorcycle. i think you'll like night mode, lots of people turning heads when the bike goes by!
hey are you using it in Bluetooth mode or via receiver
hello, bluetooth mode, the action 4 or 5 connect directly, i don't have a receiver just the mic2. thanks for the sub & like! night mode tests coming in the morning.
Great 😃
Dlog m 10 bit?
@@RohanSanjith would you like to see that test? I can do that tomorrow. The video above is filmed in normal 10bit, with the greatly improved new firmware. No adjustments made. I have more uploads coming subscribe for more ! (Tomorrow)
@@MattsMotorcyclesDaily why there's no update showing in my app?
@@RohanSanjith hi, the update is in the dji Mimo app, you’ll turn on your phones Bluetooth, then turn on the camera. Then open the app, it will prompt for the firmware update. If it doesn’t prompt auto matically go to the about section, then “check for firmware updates.”
@@MattsMotorcyclesDaily did you update from iphone or android phone
@@suzob6478 I don’t know if android works I use an old iPhone 10. If you don’t have one borrow a friends it just takes 1 min or I have an old dedicated IPhone I use for my dji drone and cameras. 80$ off Craigslist. Pro tip of the day.
Thank you for the update. Can you try with 60fps as well?
@@atmojojo_ absolutely it’s uploading now !!!! Prob down by tomorrow am
The one good thing I can say about this camera being bad from the start is that it made me shoot in DLog M for the first time and I realized how easy it is to just apply a LUT. Now I'm shooting in Log on my devices that have the ability to. Thanks DJI!
@@Basboy agreed! It literally made me learn da Vinci resolve (rush didn’t support lut ) , i hope you enjoyed the video and let me know if you perceive an improvement in picture quality! I’ll be heading out in 20 minutes for a night ride and I’ll be filming night ride and regular in high iso.
@@MattsMotorcyclesDaily I think it looks good now, my reaction to the video is that it looks like I would expect instead of, yuck what is this mess?! The only thing I can't really tell is because you have a legit overcast sky, if the clouds look better or not. In comparison videos, the Action 5 Pro clouds are really flat and one tone grey and don't show the different shades from white to dark grey. This video seems to show that it does on some of the sections of the sky that have lighter colored clouds?
On my iPhone 15 plus, this looks GOOD!!!! I am gonna view it on my big tv later tonight. But it is clearly better with new firmware! Sharp, clear and colors look good and overall, I see much less muddiness in the highlights. I can only imagine that DLog is also improved as well…and it was already good. Can’t wait to see night footage. Try to do duplicate your last night lights test which was awesome! I would test varying ISO, 1/100-1/8000 Shutter(or quadruple your frame rate) and test super night! Hoping they improved the night footage as well. DJI also told me night footage less jittery with NR at -2 but unsure if that applies to new firmware.
@@babyboy1971 yes it’s clearly much better, doing a night ride tonight with the new firmware, and I’m uploading a evening ride on the new firmware too it looks really good.
@@MattsMotorcyclesDaily oh this is great news my friend! Can’t wait to see these! Keep up the great work!
@@babyboy1971 thanks and thanks for convincing me to keep it! I’m happy now that it’s updated. This is how it SHOULD looked like from the start!
@@MattsMotorcyclesDaily Keen to see it. I had seen your last Normal 10 bit colour profile high ISO video in the evening which looked nice. Looking forward to the next evening ride. Have you tried recording in D-Log and if it has any improvements over the normal 10 bit colour profile?
@@jasontran1636 hi , I’m heading out in about 20 minutes to do the night ride. Because of your question I’ll add a 10 bit dlog lap to my ride. I plan on currently doing regular cideo high iso, night mode. And now dlog, I’ll apply the official dji lut color profile to that particular timeline in resolve. So all others will be normal 10 bit, your segment will be at the end in dlog with lut applied in post.
Quality is very clear!
thank you this is the first quick test commuting to work, i have a longer one uploading now - lmk what you think!
also stay tuned, i'm filming a night test on the new firmware tonight.
Has quality improved much?

.... from 25mph it gets muddy
T -1, N -2, ev -0.3, 1-1600, 1/100 - 1/8000 ? Or are you still at -1 ev? I did a test where I copied all of your settings to each mode and compared them. Ev -1 was way too dark for me tho, looks fantastic and sharp in light but just too dark in variable light conditions. While normal was grainy, on HLG it looked spectacular and D Log M somehow even better (after the LUT). I was planning to test iso 100-800 with ev 0 just to darken the exposure on the ISO level, which would make it even sharper. But with the firmware update it's back to testing 😅. Maybe I'll wait for you to run some tests first so I can copy your settings 😉
@@johnsojourn9114 hi I’m terribly sorry, for this test I was actually at DEFAULT out of box settings for fine adjustments. So 0 texture 0 noise reduction. Ev I believe was at 0.
@@johnsojourn9114 yes I plan to test so just follow along if you’d like I’ll find them with the new firmware. Filming my today’s commute with a few different settings on the new firmware.
@@MattsMotorcyclesDaily oooh interesting. Doesn't look that oversharpened on 0 in DLog! Looking forward to your next vid man, they're a treat :)
@@johnsojourn9114 hey bud I have one uploading now with the new firmware and I can tell you you’ll be happy, way better picture quality just wait and let me know
Matt! Don’t sell the A5 Pro. I did EXTENSIVE testing today. The camera (till they update firmware) is shooting in HDR and it looks soft. This is something that the ace pro had in its first iteration until they updated the firmware. My guess is that DJI is going to do the same exact thing. Take a look at how insanely good this footage looks vs this video that you shot on the ride to Mt. Baker (not Dlog) I would recommend keeping the camera and waiting to see if they update the firmware and also just shooting DLOG all the time. Also, I’m finding that if you set the white balance manually to a slightly warmer temperature like 5500K, or even 6000 (especially at sunset) it looks better in non DLOG. And turn texture to 0 and NR to -1 and it’s bit less muddy. EV -0.7. Keep trying my friend. The camera in DLOG isn’t muddy. Look at this video for proof. I am praying that DJI releases a firmware update before the Ace pro two comes in swinging hard. They need to allow a non HDR option in normal color mode, fix super night and up bit rate. Alternatively, for less HDR effects, you can set ISO low. But DLOG is king here for now. BTW, the pocket 3 (which I have and love) had similar issues upon release. They (mostly) fixed it. They’ll fix this. 🤞
@@babyboy1971 I’ll try this tomorrow ! I still have the action 5 so I’ll give that a try! Thanks! Have yesterday’s video uploading for this morning (action 3) and after that I’ll try the action 5 commute in d log mode! Thanks again! I hope the mountain ride doesn’t look bad, it was a 4 hour journey haha! But I suppose I could refilm in Dlog. You’re right about the settings I filmed in normal to show how it would look fresh out of the box, for the regular user etc.
@@babyboy1971 just an update. I got my action 5 on my helmet so I’ll be using that today! Thanks! Will upload the 10 bit dlog test today or tomorrow .
@@babyboy1971 hi, I did some tests with the action 5 today. The 10bit dlog still produced the blown hdr effect. Though the lut color profile added made the colors crystal clear. I also tried the HLG profile, this DID eliminate the hdr effect but made the color very flat. Even when I enabled hdr on my tv and monitor.
@@MattsMotorcyclesDaily DJI is on the case. They replied to two of my comments. They are aware. I can’t wait to see your footage. Knock back NR and texture to -1 and EV to -0.3. You shouldn’t see HDR in Dlog. Also, I heard from an expert and evidently, bit rate isn’t the only issue. The HDR is the issue and they’ll fix it. I hope. They fixed it on my pocket 3 and on the GoPro 12 and Insta fixed it on the ace pro 1. It was real bad on the Ace, now fixed. DJI will fix it. Hopefully before the 22nd, when the Ace Pro 2 debuts. That’s a good thing. DJI is racing to beat that one, because the Ace Pro 2 is going to be a serious winner on IQ. But…heavy and clunky.
@@babyboy1971 nice, two videos uploading nkw will be down tomorrow morning. Same route, one in dlog and one on hlg.
You are getting a crisp and sharp image that I’m not quite achieving yet . May I ask your texture, EV, NR and other exposure settings here? Lovely footage! Really clean and warm also. Great stuff!
@@babyboy1971 thank you so much / here’s what’s super bizarre , I filmed this on my new dji action 3 camera. I got it on sale on Amazon for 199$, with an extra endurance battery. The settings is my first test. Literally fresh out of the box with no changes. Auto everything. Dji allows a 2 week no questions return. If the firmware doesn’t get figured out for the 5 I’m just going to return it. I feel like this action 3 is producing almost better footage right out of the box.
@@MattsMotorcyclesDailyweird!!!! They have to fix this in firmware. And they will, my friend. I will say this, though, notice how this camera isn’t handling darker settings at all as well as the 5. The dynamic range on the 5 is far superior to this and GoPro. But this is still very impressive for an “old” camera.
@@babyboy1971 yes I’m going to reset tonight, I had the iso at 100-1600 so that may be the darkness.
