Yup still applicable. In fact in some ways it's even more applicable. One thing we've learned though is that it really works best when your original and duplicated product titles do not have a tonne of keyword overlap. If the titles are so similar that they are targeting most of the same keywords the strat won't work well

Don't understand why you excluded website visitors, yes you're going to do re-marketing but isn't that like saying, I'm only giving the campaign 1 click to convert?
In terms of measuring success I’m looking at the blended ROAS and performance of both RTG and Cold traffic combined. If the user did initially come through the cold campaign but then eventually convert on the RTG campaign I like to be able to see that in the RTG campaign and overall I lower my expectations for cold traffic ROAS as long as blended ROAS is on track.
@@DarylManderbigflare I think he's keeping it as strictly cold, prospecting campaign - you found this set up works better or not excluding clicks but still retargeting clicks and what type of budget do you allocate each campaign cold + warm, 80/20?
@@Job2freedom I personally don't exclude clicks but I still do re-targeting for clicks. I'm still trying to figure out demand gen, but from my understanding it works best if you let the campaign generate demand and then also capture that demand as it's designed to do that.
@@DarylManderbigflare Demand gen isn't like other google campaigns, it actually learns at the ad group level not at the campaign level, so you can do remarketing in same campaign but different ad group.
@@giglas yeah that's what I find confusing about him excluding clicks, and going purely for cold audiences but it's like setting a frequency cap, right? Because demand gen is primarily optimized for audiences closer to making a decision, and it does the prospecting and remarketing for you by default but I guess that's his strategy, it makes sense on Facebook. It'd be interesting to test it and see if it gets better results

I do sometimes have lead gen content but more of my focus is on Ecommerce
It looks like you created the opposite of Cart abandoners. Your action creates a list of people who visited your checkout and, therefore, may or may not have converted. You should, at minimum, use the exclude option to exclude people who converted. Am I right?
Correct! Later in the video during the strategy section I talk about exactly this, about excluding past purchasers. Reason I didn't do it in the tutorial section is because what you see there is actually my exact usual flow when setting up, I mentioned at the end that you then need to duplicate ad groups for the other audiences and personally for me it's during this step where I usually set up my exclusions.
Hi, Thank you for the great video! In one of your videos you mention how many products should be added per campaign and how many campaigns you should have in relation to the number of conversions. Do both of these things matter for the asset group in the campaign? e.g. If you have only 50 conversions in a campaign, should you still divide it into different asset groups, or keep it in one asset group? What about the number of products within this asset group? or is this only relevant on campaign level? Thank you!
Nah conversion volume per asset group matters a lot less so don’t sweat it too much at asset group level

Question: can these ads ever be flagged by a human? I generally get one or 2 a year, but last month I had 15 ads suddenly get flagged for something outlandish- recreational drugs- I work at a bank. Background- on the same day we had a disgruntled ex employee flag and make rude comments on our social pages. Anyway- just wondering if it’s always bots!
As far as I know, no, ads cannot get flagged by a human.

Hi Daryl, thank you for the vid, was wondering if you could help me with some advice? We have just switched our website and after a month of running well our google ads/merchant account was turned upside down. We are now on week 3 of having only 25% visitors compared to before. My coworker says theres nothing we can do and just have to wait for google to trust our renewed merchant account again. We have upped our marketing budget but getting nowheee near the visitors/clicks and cpc has increased alot. Any tips?
Difficult to give tips without a lot more context. But one thing you could try is removing your Target ROAS or Target CPA if you are using one. Be sure to set a somewhat conservative daily budget when doing this because Google likely will spend all the budget once you remove the Target. Removing target can help a lot with getting the algo to increase CPC bids and thus traffic, allowing it to relearn faster, after an event has happened (such as a website change) that affects conversion rate.

Question re: 3:57 - you state "I would group campaigns three and four into one campaign" (to hit threshold of 50 & expedite AI learning). Let's imagine Philip Kotler did your targeting strategy and the segmentation bases for 3 & 4 are meaningful. You merge campaigns. In a parallel universe, Kotler makes you keep 3 & 4 separated. It takes parallel guy 6 months to emerge from learning modeI, while you in this world does it in 3. Parallel you at 6 months has more strategically evolved campaigns than you at 3. Why? Because during the 3 month learning mode, the AI had to discover Kotler's brilliant segmentation bases and begin teasing them apart (so at 3 months, it's still drifting back to Kotler's segments). Kotler said something like, "if you get targeting and positioning right, everything else will follow". I think there might be a better way to emerge from learning mode without a strategic sacrifice. The rate limiting factor is conversions. Instead of relying on this one conversion definition (I presume it's a purchase), add two or more indicator conversions. For example, if your current conversion is a purchase success page, add depth of interaction conversions like add to cart, view cart, pages viewed, time on site, number of visits, etc. In this approach, you shift a small amount of uncertainty to the conversion end point in order to eliminate a lot of uncertainty for targeting and positioning variables - the factors that drive strategy.

Work what way? Sorry, not sure which part of the video you are referring to, but the answer is probably something like "because I have been doing Google Ads for a very long time (coming up on 2 decades)"

I’d say pro might fit you best with the caveat that the prospecting stuff on GDN and YT is higher risk/reward. Go after that prospecting GDN/YT stuff if/when you’ve maxed out everything else in the pro setup and are looking to invest trying higher risk/reward campaigns.
Thanks Daryl, much appreciated … I was also wondering why in the Intermediate level structure , it is advised to split PMax into campaigns relative to website CATEGORIES , but in Pro structure , it looks likes the category PMax structure is replaced with more of a performance structure , with the campaigns being Profitable , Costly etc … instead of separated into the website category type structure ? Apologies if it is obvious , I just wondered why the performance replaced the website category type of structure . Hey, I was checking out your RUclips channel and noticed a few things with your videos that might be pushing the viewers away. Mind if i can share a quick video to you explaining how we can do the same for your RUclips and social media ?
Hey Daryl, love your videos. I don't comment on videos usually but I'm at a bit of a crossroads and thinking stuff it so here we go - pretty niche but we run a stainless steel nuts and bolts company. Campaigns are split into bolt type (one for hex bolts, one for coach screws, one for set screws, and so on) with asset groups for each split into their thread diameter (8mm coach screws, 10mm coach screws, 12mm coach screws, and so on). We have been stuck on 'maximise conversions' after finding ROAS (albeit for a very short trial) unprofitable due to some people buying one bolt and some people buying 100. Obviously smaller bolts are cheaper then big bolts but there is no rule of thumb that says people buy more of the small bolts than big ones. From our small trial, I don't trust Google to use the ROAS target to find big buyers any more than the search themes (which as you know, don't do the best job either). Do you by any chance have any advice at all at how I can look at solving this issue please? I have no idea how I can optimise an account selling products that are so specific and niche and it's hard to predict how many of a bolt someone will buy. We want to target tradespeople that hopefully buy lots of bolts and regularly. One idea I've had is to massively increase our under 2kg parcel delivery as basically short term sales prevention tactic that in theory would teach Google not to show our ads to the DIYers, but that feels kind of extreme. I have a couple of questions, though, as I found the intermediate-level campaign structure a bit confusing: In P-Max, do you mean one campaign per category?
