A lot of this reminds me of how Brighton still was in the eighties. I think change really started in the nineties and then with City status of Brighton and Hove from 2000 onwards. It’s still a great place and more character has been retained than lost over the years.

I love these videos. I've lived in Brighton my entire life, and even though a lot has changed, much hasn't. It's quite nice to see after most people complaining about how bad it is now. The beachfront is still great. The laines are still great. The Pavillion hasn't changed much at all. There are still hippies and musicians on the walkways. The vibe is very much still there.

Into my heart, an air that kills. From yon far county blows. What are those blue remembered hills? What towns, what spires are those? That is the land of lost content, I see it shining plain. The happy highways where I went. Can never come again. My hometown, the town I still love. In 1963 the year I was born. I now live in Cornwall, far away from a town that is not even a shadow of it's once thriving self.

This is 1964-64. The VC 10 shown in the two men talking scenes (which is the point of the film) did not enter service until 1964. The London street scenes are stock footage but can be dated (by a Dr Crippen film poster on bus at 4:11) to Aug 1963. The Edinburgh Festival poster at 16:29 is the 1964 version. Its a Trade Test Colour film.
