Halloween 5: The revenge of Michael Myers (1989) Movie Review
As we continue our way through the Halloween franchise, we examine the divisive Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers from 1989. Set just a year after the events of 4, yet somehow Jamie is 2 years older, and Michael apparently slept for the entire year as well, this film makes it known that it makes no sense from the opening. Never mind that they introduce the Thorn Society into the mix to try and explain Michael's back story, this gets fleshed out more in 6. All together this makes no sense. But what do we really think about this Halloween sequel? Just have to watch and see what we are talking about!

Convoluted Timelines in Horror Films Part 1
Просмотров 534 часа назад
In this episode of The Afterlife, we sit down with one of Jenny's friends Brian Emerick and discuss the most egregious of timelines in horror movies. This was initially only supposed to be one episode, but we just talked too long about the Halloween franchise, so we broke it up into two. So, this episode is all about Halloween and how you need a guide to follow along with the story set out acro...
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) Movie Review

As we continue to go down the rabbit hole that is the Halloween franchise this Halloween season, we take a look at The Return of Michael Myers. Or as some fans of the series call this film, the first in either the Jamie Lloyd trilogy, or The Cult of Thorn trilogy. Either way you we have the return to franchise standard of Michael Myers as he was absent from Halloween III: Season of the Witch. S...
Halloween II (1981) Movie Review
Просмотров 92019 часов назад
In today's episode we are revisiting the horror franchise that takes place in our state, Halloween with the second installment in the series. In this John Carpenter created a plot point that he has since decided should have never been a part of the films, Micheal and Laurie are brother and sister. As a result, the series went a little awry with the later installments. However, in this one we pi...
The Midnight Meat Train (2008) Movie Review
Просмотров 100День назад
In today's episode we are heading to the twisted mind that is Clive Barker, with an exert from his Book of Blood, The Midnight Meat Train. What can we say about this film, well it is visceral! Despite some terrible CG blood, this is gore feast in the best way possible. Starring Bradley Cooper before he became a big Hollywood celebrity, and the imposing Vinnie Jones, this train ride is just the ...
Scream 3 (2000) Movie Review

In the weeks spine chilling episode, we sit down and dissect the meta self-aware horror slasher that is Scream 3. With Hollywood tropes galore and a brand new Ghostface, as every entry has, we move on from Woodsboro and Windsor college to the glitz and glam that is Hollywood. Stab 3, the movie within a movie, is in production but the cast keeps getting dropped one by one. Can Syd and the gang u...

In this episode of The Afterlife, we discuss the various different Horror Movie Legacy Sequels that have been coming out lately, and even take a look back at some of the better ones done. They go back further than most people would think. When we discussed this topic, we had to decide what makes a film a "Legacy Sequel". Well, it is something that is continuing the story set forth X number of y...

Pet Sematary (1989) Movie Review
Просмотров 361Месяц назад
In this week's episode we head back to the wickedly cleaver mind of Stephen King and examine the one story that he has been quoted as saying, "this story really scared me." Very loosely based on real life events that surrounded the death of King's daughter's cat, a pet sematrary behind his house in Bangor Maine, and even the road with too fast truck driving by ending the lives of enough pets to...
Saw II (2005) Movie Review
Просмотров 45Месяц назад
In this week's episode we examine arguably the most successful sequel in the Saw franchise Saw II. While not made by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, this delivers in way that they must be proud of how their little independent film could form. With a bigger budget and quality acting across the board from the likes of Tobin Bell, and Donnie Wahlberg, this film ups the ante with more victims and mor...

We touch on everything from Psycho, Halloween, Black Christmas, House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, Sid Haig, and even the 1966 T.V. series Batman. Yes, it is all connected! Drag Me to Hell (2009) Movie Review
Просмотров 26Месяц назад
In today's Sam Raimi's horror-fueled experience, we sit down with Slash Sister Amanda and dissect the 2009 hellish feature. This may be a rare instance where the main character of the film, literally gets drug to hell, and doesn't make it to the end of the film. Also, a rarity in horror, Justin Long's character of Clay, makes it out unscathed. Trigger warning: we do use the term "gypsy" in this...
Evil Dead Rise (2023) Movie Review
Просмотров 258Месяц назад
In this week's blood-drenched episode, we close out another franchise (for now)! We revisit the world of the deadites via the most infamous book in cinema history, the necronomicon. We trade in the cabin in the woods with five friends for a family of five and a downtown apartment building converted from a bank. As with all entries in this franchise, we have an unknowing idiot that unleashes the...

The Cabin in the Woods (2011) Movie Review
did you know that the kid carrying the boombox that bumps into Micheal thats his real son
@Killacell7774ever yes we did! We just forgot to mention it in the video. Hallie has a habit of reading IMDB trivia for all of the movies we review.
@@slashsisters it's all good keep up the great work 👍🏻
@@Killacell7774ever we will keep making cause we have so much fun doing this! And thank you for watching!
Its funny that the best continuity from pt4 to 5, Michael's body shape, specifically when he goes on his water slide!! This movie is horrible, but I love it. Watching it as a comedy saves it for me. Loomis' charlie and cookie woman line's make me laugh uncontrollably
@@adrianphillips2136 thanks for watching!
I can only imagine how ditzy or drugged up can one person (Tina) to NOT notice that the driver wasn't her boyfriend. Wouldn't the total lack of communication from your "boyfriend"s" side be a major giveaway????
@eddiechase305 one would think wouldn't they!
Good review!
@@toastretrac703 thank you!
Love the shirts ladies!
@@toastretrac703 thanks!
hey it's me! I feel like I should have yelled my responses. lol
@@emerickscott we told you to speak loudly!
Dang timelines..
@@toastretrac703 truth.
4&5 are my favorites out of any Halloween ever made. I’m a sucker for shlock
@@sethrobinson28 they are definitely kind of schlocky. There could have been a good story there as well, but the timelines just make the series confusing.
@@slashsisters time lines never bothered me until the most recent entries (Danny McBride ) I love Jaime and hate Rachel lol
@sethrobinson28 it wasn't so much Danny McBride as it was David Gordon Green. He ruined the new films. It's the whole reason he got fired from The Exorcist sequels because he doesn't know what the fans want.
@@slashsisters ah. I thought McBride had a pretty heavy hand in the story. The first one one was good(2018) but just that. Nothing mind blowing, I hate reboots. Just sequel me to death
I mean Michael drove the nurse's car around for all of Halloween 1978
@emerickscott true. But that was a station wagon with an automatic transmission. The truck here drives here is most certainly a stick shift! Lol!
I have a Cult of Thorn tattoo, I love this trilogy :)
@colbreen1583 that's cool! We just wish it was handled better. The story could have been cool had they not mishandled the characters involved, not making the story up as they went, specifically with 5.
Hello!!
6 minutes too long of a wait, I bet! I'm keen to see what y'all think of this one. It's 5th on my franchise ranking (probably a 3.5 star movie) though there are only three stinkers in this franchise for me.
@adrianphillips2136 we tend to agree that as well, but there are some good stories in this franchise. This is just not one of them.
@@slashsisters 100% This movie is a Halloween 1978 cover band. The Force Awakens of the Halloween franchise in template (for better or worse). I really like the opening, 4&6 have great autumnal shots! I like Rachel and Jamies development (trying to isolate it to this one) The shotgun death was cool in the, "sike, you thought I was gonna shoot her" kinda way... I prefer Halloween 4 to Halloween 5 but I may prefer to chuck on 5 for how bonkers Loomis is, and how ridiculous the "plot" gets. Not sure how to feel about the tacked on ending that came from nowhere, but then again, so did the opening in the original. Stay Hallowinning! Good luck carving down the rest of the franchise!
Getting the spooky on! I love Halloween 2.
@@randycunningham7318 it is one of the better ones in the franchise.
What a shite review 🤣🤣🤣
You can't kill the Boogeyman!
@zombiemike75ify according to Ice Nine Kills, you can't at least.
I don't believe this dear
Happy spooky month Slash Sisters!
@@toastretrac703 Happy Halloween!
This movie is so friggin bonkers!
Ya'll cheesy and you are ALL the ❤ of the studio!
@toastretrac703 well you are an important part as well!
We couldn't do it without ya Amy!
Despite the tonal inconsistencies, issues with logic (not cutting scenes that functioned with 2 killers), and a (sole) killer that literally has no screen time with Sidney until the reveal (unlike Ms. Loomis where it makes sense) Where was i getting with this?.... Ah, yes. This is my 3rd favourite still! Love the review, keep it up and ill be sure to keep up! ❤❤
@adrianphillips2136 thank you for the positivity! We enjoy making these videos, but it is always nice to hear people enjoy watching them as well. We will be getting to Scream 4 before the year is out!
Y'all deserve it! Loving the Jennifer Jolie love, I'd agree it's my favourite part of the movie too! Got a soft spot for this movie, and it's got a really good third act, just the wait that hurts a little... LOL!
@@adrianphillips2136 agreed!
Agreed on the voice changer. It was like a cheat. Also, Kevin just bought Dogma back from Dimension so he is doing a re-release!
@emerickscott very cool!
@emerickscott hopefully we can finally get a digital release of Dogma as well!
Christine!! 🤣
@@toastretrac703 it has been a running joke for more than 10 years!

@chrispeplow5898 what if... 🤔

So glad you solved what's behind the mask within the first 3 minutes of your review. 🤣
@@toastretrac703 hahaha! We thought it was funny!
Happy Friday the 13th, yall!
@@toastretrac703 thank you!
Regarding Bloodlines, unfortunately I HATED it. As did most people. However that is a really interesting easter egg.
@emerickscott we actually have not seen it. But we felt that it at least needed to be mentioned because it does expand the lore at minimum. But hey, thanks for watching and commenting!
ooooo I have Friday the 13th 3-D in real 3D on my projector! Only came out in the complete series bluray set.
@emerickscott I mean, that's the best way to see it. But we only have it on DVD. So the silly blue and red glasses. Fortunately, Slash Sister Hallie is always ready for a 3-D film thanks to our good friend Lod Blood-Rah from Lord Blood-Rah's Nerve Wrackin Theatre.
Bloodlines had some really good things going for it but they completely butchered Timmy Baterman's story.
Its out of Saw and Saw II for my favourite. Hmmmm... Great vid!
@@adrianphillips2136 thanks for watching!
Just found your channel and I love it!!
@dak-cho4092 glad you are here and enjoying the channel space! We are also on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok as well!
Part 5 is definitely my favorite because of how fun it is. Characters like Ethel and Demon give it so much more personality rather than it just being "jason kills kids in a forest part 5"
@@biddleeewho4181 interesting choice. But valid points. Thanks for watching!
Cool rankings! Part II is top 3 for me along with IV and FvJ.
@kcmet79 thanks for watching! We actually may have done this different like 20 years ago, thus us just how we felt at this time! Be sure to check out our other rankings of the Hallowee and Nightmare on Elm St. Franchises as well!
Remake should be A tier, Jason Takes Manhattan should be at least B tier. Otherwise, solid, imo.
@@EricSleightly thank you for watching!
Definitely a good movie in the series!
@@toastretrac703 we both surely enjoyed it!
I agree for the most part, except 2 should be a little higher, along with 6. And freddy vs jason should be down a peg or so, it wasn't as good as people want it to be
@lordsidious83 and we welcome all opinions. This is just how we felt about these films at this time. We would have ranked them differently 20 years ago. But that's what makes this world amazing. No one is wrong for where they place these titles on their lists. And thank you for watching!
It's nice to finally see Jason lives taken down a peg. It's not my least favorite of the series but i roll my eyes every time it's ranked as the top spot.
@robertp3400 really? You have seen it ranked in someone's top spot? I mean, it's OK, but not S tier status. And thank you for watching!
@@slashsisters Sadly; yes, most ranking videos of Friday the 13th have Part 6 as the number one movie. My personal ranking is as follows: Part 3 in 3D Part 4: The Final Chapter Remake/Reboot Part 2 Part 1 Freddy Vs Jason Part 6: Jason Lives Part 7: The New Blood Part 5: A New Beginning Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan Jason X Jason Goes to Hell
@robertp3400 not a bad ranking.

@@slashsisters i wont, respectfully
I like how y’all use a physical tier ranking board. To me that is like practical effects instead of cg. Most reviewers talk about loving old practical effects but use a computer for everything. Good on y’all.
