Pervasive Blue in the SCN: A Science Communication Film
And this is where it all began! For my neuroscience class, we were tasked to do a piece of science communication, and I chose film. I remember thinking "I want to learn to make films while I'm at UNCA"--you know, to play behind my band at gigs so we could look really cool with a projector. I had not idea how much I would love it, and I would later change majors to pursue more filmmaking and visual storytelling.
The topic-about how blue light affects everything-was someone else's idea, but it worked perfectly: the Zoom screens during Covid actually helped tell the story. I learned all about using creative commons visuals, and I scored the film myself.
I owe the success of this project to th...

AI & Storytelling: AI as a New Medium for Storytelling in Film and Television
Просмотров 71Месяц назад
I produced this documentary with the assistance of AI. All b-roll in this short, with the exception of a live performance by international inderdisciplinary artist Cilla Vee at the {Re}Happening at Lake Eden. The AI generated images and video were made using Runway AI, Midjourney, and Hypernatural AI. I am greatly inpired by Marshall McLuhan's media ecology theory, as I find it applicable to un...
David Lynch: Creator of Worlds

This is a student film. All video and images are for educational use only. I worked with Verna Townsend on this short documentary director's study of David Lynch, my favorite director. I had never watched any of the behind-the-scenes or extra footage on the many DVDs of Lynch's work that I owned. I decided to go for it and screen-record enough of the clips to illustrate a vision of his genius d...
Clown:Walking the Tightrope
Просмотров 238Месяц назад
This was the second in my do-it-myself documentary efforts for my journalism class. I was disappointed that I hadn't got to feature more of my clown footage from the Surreal Sirkus feature. I walked up to ToyBox at the end of the Surreal Sirkus Arts Festival and asked America's Favorite Cartoon Witch if they would grant me an interview, and he agreed. I found myself driving out one night in tor...
History of the Surreal Sirkus

This film is a re-edit of my Surreal Sirkus 2022 film with some changes, which includes more content and b-roll from past Surreal Sirkus performances. When I approached Jim last year and asked to make this film for a project for school, I had no idea how much archival footage they had from all those years: I was absolutely enchanted and honored to get to take their stories and weave it all toge...
The Rising Tide: LGBTQ+ in 2023
Просмотров 653Год назад
This documentary is my final project for professor Anne Slatton’s Documentary Production class. I was inspired to do this project by the barrage of new alerts about anti-LGBTQ bills being passed across the country. I made this documentary in an effort to raise awareness and place this moment in the fight for LGBTQ rights in the context of history and human rights. I am hoping this film can help...
UNCA Media Design Lab, TV Studio and Audio Lab

This video project for my Journalism class showcases the Media Design Lab, TV Studio and Audio Lab at UNCA. I was inspired to make this video by the student assistants at the lab who taught me how to use Final Cut for a video project I made for my Neuroscience class. Learning video editing software and making a video changed everything; to the lab, I am eternally grateful.

What is magical about these interviews and the straightforward way they're presented is the clarity that they provide. I'll be honest, i wasn't much a fan of clowns or puppets prior to meeting Keith, and getting to know him and now Michael and Rigel i more clearly hear the tunes they play, the humor and dredged up stories within us that is worth shining a light on. Which these interviews did well. Thank you, Beth!
