Why Maestro Failed Where Amadeus Succeeded
Maestro (2023) is Bradley Cooper's second feature film in the director's seat, and it sure is...a movie. Widely thought of as "Oscar bait" this film has managed to unite casual and dedicate moviegoers alike in their mutual distaste for it, but what exactly is the issue? Well the exact faults become much more obvious when it is compared to Milos Forman's 1984 masterpiece Amadeus.
Am I a little biased? Maybe, but I do think you'll agree once we take a closer look.

How Game of Thrones Let Down Theon Greyjoy
Просмотров 2983 месяца назад
It's been almost five years since Game of Thrones put out its stunningly awful finale. Fans have often said that one of the few characters not ruined by the abysmal writing of the last few seasons was Theon Greyjoy. I wholly reject this notion. While he may not have gone through a full-on assassination like some of the others, they seemingly "kinda forgot" to put effort into actually rapping up...
Best Movie Ever? Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London
Просмотров 2985 месяцев назад
Is Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London the best movie ever made? That's a question absolutely nobody but me has ever asked, nonetheless on it's 20th anniversary I intend to find out the answer once and for all. Maybe while I'm doing that, there'll be time to unravel a family-wide Anne Boleyn conspiracy and reopen some old Game of Thrones related wounds. #agentcodybanks #gameofthrones #commen...
Night Teeth was so Awful That it Broke Me

Barbarians Could Have Been Great

Barbarians 2021 (as opposed to the singular version that came out the following year) had the making of a great movie. With a skillful cast, interesting ideas, and even some hilarious writing, how could such a set up go wrong? Well that's exactly what we're going to explore. Why Caligula Failed at Everything
Просмотров 654Год назад
The 1979 version of 'Caligula' is at best extremely uncomfortable, and at worst...well...we'll get into that. Starring legendary actors Malcom McDowell and Helen Mirren, this film dares to go places most wouldn't, and maybe for good reason. #caligula #commentary #cannes2023
Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie is Painful
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.Год назад
Alfred Hitchcock needs little to no introduction. With famed masterpieces such as 'Psycho' and 'The Birds' under his belt no one can question his talent and dedication to the craft. However, not everything he made can be received with such praise, his 1964 film "Marnie" being one such work. #marnie #commentary #alfredhitchcock

It was a beautiful movie that covered a taboo subject of its time childhood sexual abuse. The acting was beautiful, and the delivery from Gedeen and Connery wax remarkable

Thank you. 1. Are conductors, artists? Well, most do not create their own pieces. So movies about conductors are void of the plot developing their talent. Boring! 2. Supposedly, Cooper has an oversized ego. Being nominated for the Oscar Best Director for your first film made Cooper's ego even more toxic.

I’m not certain I’m going to watch his entire video, but I might… I like your style, you’re editing, your point of view, and your sense of humor. I have to say I despise this whole thing about people being nominated for best supporting actor when clearly, they are one of the leads. To tell you truth, I’m not really a fan of awards, in general, I mean these kinds of awards. I think they should be nominations and people should go to a nice luncheon and have a good time. Isn’t that enough?

"Any Questions?" is also how the London broadcast of "Candide" ends: conducted and hosted by Bernstein, who talks about Felicia during the course of the performance. It's a long but informative and very fun and informal presentation: ruclips.net/video/cMIzHnyuiNY/видео.html

It is so especially disappointing to know about Jones and what he truly is: he plays the Emperor so very well, and relates to the other actors in all his scenes perfectly. It is a crying shame.

I also loved “Amadeus” and loathed “Maestro”! Agree with all of your points. The movie was a chaotic mishmash. It was as if Bernstein’s life was a dictionary and they flipped the pages and stabbed their finger randomly on some event and then lather, rinse, repeat. I thought between the make-up, the false nose and the overblown accent, the portrayal of Bernstein embarrassingly smacked of an SNL sketch. And I know Cooper can do better. He was brilliant in “Silver Linings Playbook”. It’s hard to believe the film had Oscar nominations, considering. Anyway, thank you for your thoughtful review. It very much resonated with me.

True, this film is bad. Marnine is Hitchcock later period movie and his production was obvious going downhill. Sean Connery never reach the level of Cary Grant or James Stewart and the actress never reach the level of Grace Kelly. The main actor is no charming. The actress is not beautiful.

Good video. He really was wasted in S6 and especially 7. Sansa actually convincing him going to castle black (instead of him going to the Iron islands for some reason???) would have been far more interesting, and if you don't want him to Join in the fight against Ramsay then you could have him leave via eastwatch sometime before the battle, due to his fear of Ramsay, and gets caught up in the Dragonstone bs later. Honestly I always thought him killing the Night King would have been far more interesting than anyone else, as his story in S6/7 can easily be altered to make it fit better, and it would actually act as a resolution to his story. (Unlike with Arya, where it adds nothing to her story.)

Girl you don't know what you talking about! It's psychological, suspenseful, sexy and sensual and has a combination of everything.. And if it didn't reach the level of being a masterpiece what film does. I can count film masterpieces on one hand. But you have to admire that Hitchcock tted. And you'd be lying if you said that this film wasn't entertaining because it was entertaining enough for you to give your nerdy out of touch road runner fast talking review where you don't even take the time to catch your breath.

Rogue Heroes does use a lot of period music but the reason why they use punk rock or ACDC for some of the scenes is that the underlying ethos of punk and the SAS is the same - both are rebels against the establishment.

One simply must not judge a film from 60 years ago completely under the microscope of nouveau 21st century social standards. Ironically, this film was roundly panned upon release in 1964, but for different reasons from your pan in 2023. It took decades to appreciate the fact that this film contains some of Hitchcock’s best set pieces and suspense sequences. I would suggest forgetting or forgiving the silly psychological contrivances, the passé gender stuff, even the allegedly hideous painted backdrops, and finding within this film the moments of greatness that time has revealed.
