Peak Rail
As I was staying at Center Parcs a mere 1 hour drive away, it felt rude not to tick another heritage railway off the list and in typical James Trains fashion, the weather was constantly changing from heavy wind and rain to a beautiful summers day! The high wind took me by surprise this day so I did not adapt the camera to deal with the noise so apologies for the added wind noise in certain parts of this video.
Peak Rail is a 4.3 mile long, standard gauge heritage railway based on the edge of the Peak District National park, a little way from Chesterfield. It boasts 4 stations: Rowsley South which is the base station with the Engine Sheds, Darley Dale, Matlock Riverside and Matlock. Matlock...

Trainspotting at De Lucy Junction

Thank you for watching. De Lucy Junction is named after a resident's home in the market town of Diss, Norfolk, UK , and was built by Numpty_pootis_8012 and Glouceswich Junction in 2017 for the residents who may have worked on the railways in the past This layout was taken into the home any time they would go and see one of their relatives. After the residents who showed interest unfortunately p...

Firstly, I would like to apolgise for the wind noise in this video. On the day of filming, there were gale force winds blowing and the East Anglian Railway Museum location is fairly high up and exposed. Plans are being made to modify the camera for future videos to reduce this additional noise. No prizes for guessing which Thomas the Tank Engine Character this locomotive was presenting as! The ...

This was my first dive into Southern Region Heritage Railways and what a delight it was! And the weather could be no more like the typical April showers! This 5.5 mile long railway boasts an impressive array of rolling stock and very picturesque stations! The Spa Valley Railway was operating a push-pull service on the day of visit, meaning a pleasant mix of steam and diesel experiences. The sta...

This was one of the more difficult videos to film due to the shear number of artifacts in the museum. Everywhere you looked was railway memorabilia, every corner turned was a new exhibition. From Industrial steam locomotives to London Underground stock; from local goods wagons to Canadian brake vans, this museum has it all. I originally discovered this museum after watching the 2002 TV series "...

    Nice job and looks good in black. I built mine some years back from the original Airfix boxing, lovely crisp mouldings in hard plastic. I built it in red as per the moulded plastic colour and painted the chevrons on the buffer beams. I need to upgrade the wheels to metal now and add weight as I didnt think of that back in the 90s. Its a lovely kit and looks great on the layout. The hardest part is getting all the cabling correct, I need to add weight to the hook too and will probably try and use some Kadee couplers as I am with most of the wagon kits I am getting back into building as RTR stuff now is just crazy price

    • @jamestrains272
      @jamestrains272 3 года назад

      Thank you for commenting, the rigging was definitely something to study before even picking up the thread. Really the weights were in place to make it ride my smoothly on the layout, preventing it from hopping and giving it a good solid thud when it goes over points and connectors. As you saw in the video, it wasn't the best at lifting but cosmetically l, I think its a really unique object to have on the layout! Happy modelling and of course, stay safe!

That kind of thing, its a locomotive geared for torque rather than speed and distance so goes quite slow at break in speed.
