The alarm needs to be sounded from the jaguar nation cause southern has fallen way behind in recruiting and it's very alarming and I know yall tired of me saying it but it falls back on the coaching staff what kinda job are they doing to recruit certain players and sale the program cause everyone knows that recruiting a lot of good players is half the battle won the win championships now I will say the defensive side is doing and excellent job in recruiting but the whole offense positions coaches is super suspect to me in there ability to coach and recruit hopefully one day the administration will wake up geaux jags

To add to what you’re discussing…even to a lower level, Mekhi Hagans (UAPB) signed with Lamar University the other day, and as of today, Amari Jones (FIU), another QB offered by Southern, announced today he’s committed to SCSU. Gone are the days of expecting recruits to head your way based on a brand that was built around the 90s and early 00s. This era currently is about what are you doing currently, how are you looking doing it, and or, what are you offering financially outside of roster placement? From marketing, to calling plays and competing, to dominating, to what financially do you have to offer; is the era going forward in this college football climate with these Young Men. When you lack in those areas, you are relegated to turn to HS, Smaller Schools & JUCO to recruiting, while your contemporaries are re-tooling with higher grade weapons. Good morning bro! You do give a good assessment on Southern university football team. We had a good season last year and it should give us some momentum for this season. We were only a half away from winning a championship. We won the first half in the championship, so that tells me we not that far off as people may think. Great show on last night and Go jags!

I’m so late but as a season book holder I’m very concerned about our offensive play calling directly pointing at this year. Everyone in the SWaC knew what play we were running on first down. Each game was the same thing. It’s crippling our young men and I expect better from our star studded coaches. We have an awesome squad and a great group of coaches that have played the game most at a high level. We can do better guys. Let’s get it together for the upcoming season.

Good pick up but I still feel our recruiting is lacking I feel we should more transparent about who's committed and who we are offering to excite the fanbase I think all that helps us recruiting wise and gives us exposure that is needed I also think prospective recruits look at that type of stuff when considering between different institutions

Thank you for the breakdown and perspective. I would be interested to see how SU Athletic Director Roman Banks would actually plan to address this issue with a feasible, strategic plan. I think part of the issue is lack of transparency and accountability in parts of the Athletic Department, particularly at the top.

I was really confused with the comments in this post. I too am a season book holder. Those of us that are season-bookers have and want different parking and/or tailgating desires. So, automatically giving tailgating to season-bookers wouldn't be wise one because most don't tailgate at all; some tailgate on a small scale by their vehicle; some tailgate as a larger group (family, organization, etc..) a specified location away from their particular parking space; some are RV owners are park and tailgate there; etc.. So, parking is sold separate from game tickets, as is tailgating spots. As for more people tailgating than going to the game, there were years as far back as Pete's later years when that was the case; people making a statement to administration to not be in their seats. But, especially last year, folks don't come on campus at all if they aren't going in the game. The parking lot be as empty as the stadium and most of the people show up close to game time. So, there aren't nearly as many people actually on campus tailgating at games after HC. For those games, you can tailgate darn near anywhere you want to because there just isn't anyone worth talking about tailgating at those games. Long-short, my eyes hasn't seen in recent years what you are expressing in this particular video. Some of that was still in place during Odums. But, folks stopped coming under Dooley.

I agree attendance has been low for some games. The folk that pay for the tailgating only sites they may have stipulations as to purchasing game tickets ( I am not aware of it.) FYI for clarification purposes individuals in the RV sites ... Mini Dome , Reserve RV area near the Stadium & Ballantine site purchase their site, must purchase Season book (s) and if they tow a vehicle must purchase a Pass for the vehicle. These folk do this to support financially in my opinion, the University, Team, Band, and to experience tailgating before and returning to their site after the game. Now, scheduling Alcorn for Homecoming Game many folk talked about the scheduling which appeared not to be thought out as you stated!! Hopeful, SU will do better in 2025 !!

The problem is you can't have people just show up on campus and just want to tailgate. Do surveys to find out why they're not going in. There should be a migration to the stadium before the game starts.

It is a disgrace because I am a season ticket holder and had to pay an additional $120.00 to find a parking spot on campus at one of the buildings not connected to University. IT IS A SHAME! Soon, they will have no one at the game because everyone is aware of what's going on! THE FOOTBALL TEAM (STUDENTS) NEED OUR SUPPORT!

Entire SWAC is different these days. Lot of these players are going to PWIs. That’s one of the biggest issues and how the number of “great” players to get decrease from jump street. I’m blue/white through and through but would still love to see the entire SWAC get more of these players. But also as someone mentioned, alumni/fans’ support can put in motion some changes

As a JSU Alum, I look across the SWAC, Defensively SU is there. Offensively I dont know what they want to do. Identity, Grabbing a good player is not enough. No secret, Coach TC wants a big ass OL, 6'3 WR that are fast. We running to wear down the defense then unleash the wr

it's the scheme man . When I watch the 1st half of the SWAC Championship we finally competed with JSU. I always knew we could compete with them. Yall acting like JSU was dominant AF, it took Willie Simmons to leave for them to get back on top. Lets not forget that shit! What made JSU good this year (besides Willie leaving) is they have great play callers and schemes to open guys up. SU only runs a plain jane offense. Nothing creative, long ass routes that take too long to develop and just basic run plays up the middle. What made Willie Simmons great when he was at FAMU was his offensive scheme and he had an average QBs the entire time. SU had great skilled players (Kobe Dillion, Kendric Rhymes, Chandler Whitfield and few others) that aren't being used correctly. I think I saw a few passes thrown to Kobe or Kendric out the back field this year like normal college teams do to put their skill guys in space. I said it to my home boy at the SWAC Championship game that if we threw the ball to RBs out the back field it would have neutralize JSU rush because all they was doing was hogging the line and blitzing. If I can see that, how the coaches don't? When we had Ladarius Skelton at QB we was successful AF. A running QB who could throw when need be. All this drop back shit with long developing plays is stupid.

SU should focus on Stacking a solid QB roster. Teams with a poor QB roster cannot survive.

Southern recruiting issues is because of the coaching our coaching staff is mediocre at best its going to be hard to get high end talent in with a old mediocre staff and a head coach that not big on getting players out the portal Southern whole football program is in shambles because of coaching and administration

First and Foremost...RIP Doc. Here was a great guy and a legend in his own right. I believe what you are describing or speaking towards is Brand Erosion. It can happen over a period of time, or in a short amount of time in business. It can be a specific factor or numerous factors to contribute to that. I'll continue to be patient as I watch this off season. You can't help but notice or acknowledge, that it's somewhat reminiscent of last off season, where it kind of stalled out, it was quiet and you ended up getting the class you got. I brushed that off to a transition in staffs, and eventually Coach Graves being re-hired. Southern is offering opportunities, but outside of a commitment from an OL on the JUCO level, and 3 HS players, there's no traction. Yes you have JSU, FAM & Alcorn making moves. Rightfully so. JSU is in a renaissance period currently, so I can understand the "shininess" gleaming off that new toy that people are interested in - THE BRAND. FAM still has recent title to tout, along with exceeding in recruiting their pipeline and connections to other programs in the state. Alcorn being more active this offseason than Southern is an eye opener. They're getting commitments. We also have to keep in mind, commitments change, get flipped or someone will slide in the DMs for a more enticing opportunity. Which is a double edged sword. The climate of recruiting has changed. With that, you have to be able to adapt and change along with it, if you're looking for different results, especially outside of the results you've been getting. If the goal is to dominate, and win championships - you're going to have to elevate yourself to that same level as your adversary. You cant continue to run by the same motto of doing things your way, when your way has not been successful from a SWAC perspective in going on 12 years now, and on a National level 22 years. Doing things that way, you either overachieve if things fall your way, or you never make it out of conference to Atlanta, if you're fortunate to win your division. Sometimes we have to be honest with ourselves for those involved and figure out ways of not just bettering ourselves on the field, but how do we upgrade ourselves in other facets? Those on the sidelines. Those in the field house offices. Those on the boards. Do we have a NIL Collective and initiative that we can expand alumni and supporters? - And there's ways you can economically do that. That's if you truly want to see a difference, and get back to what the vision of the brand once was. As we see, in 2025...we can't move like it's 1995. If we want the product on the field to evolve, the minds have to evolve also, and that doesn't always mean an older or more seasoned mind is better suit. Or a mind with ties. Or a mind that's been around for quite some time. Everyone can continue to learn, especially in this constantly changing environment and era. More people out tailgating Vs in the stadium is telling me that a product you're selling, isn't appealing. What's making them feel that way? Has it been overachieving? Not having a bonafide QB to get behind? Is it the staff? Is the marketing running at an optimum level? Do you have a consortium to push online marketing? Are they just not sold and rather connect and have a good time outside in the parking lot. When groups start forming like that, and the product and brand continues down the road it's been on...those groups outside will either get bigger, or they'll stop showing up all together. All of that, along with what appears to be hesitation to commitments is something to not take lightly. It seems like those areas are trending in the wrong direction. I'ma continue to observe and support. But we cant simply expect to get different results, doing the same thing. Especially when you're adversaries are proactively working to upgrade, and retool, and not just look fore replacements or the "best of the rest." Peace and Salute Coach! #GeauxJags
