I have been patiently waiting to drive my new to me NB2 on the street after copping a 9 month license suspension for 30kmh over on an empty highway (Australian laws are horrific). In the past year I've broken up with 2 women, and within the last 3 months, suddenly lost my grandma and my 19yr old cat that was a best friend. Also I'm selling the Mazda 6 MPS I threw 10k into for 3k after cracking the firewall, my dreams of tracking it had been shattered. It's safe to say I'm pretty down bad but the only things holding me together are my job and my MX5. My brother drove it down to the track last month and we had a blast throwing it around on the circuit even with the stock body roll. As soon as I felt that gearbox I knew it was the best car I'd ever bought. Only 3 weeks to go, in the downtime I've installed coilovers, carbon fibre CAI, kevlar bucket seat, roll bar and a set of track tyres. I'm so excited to finally enjoy my car, rather than constantly fixing it

Evs dont give you that. There electric and they don't divert your mind to something else while a combustion car one shift of a time makes me smile.thats why i drive a evo 8. Hearing the turbo noise , blow off valve, intakes , with 404hp under your foot . Life is great. Never selling it.

You knocked it out of the park. I just bought one in December. A friend asked me how it was to drive in Bay Area traffic one day. I must have had a very confused look on my face. I had enjoyed the drive so much, I had forgotten to get upset about (or even really notice) the traffic jam I had just navigated. The manual is perfect, the ride engaging and the soft top gets dropped as often as possible.

I miss my ND2 Miata, it was an amazing drivers car. My grandfather passed away a couple months ago and left his brand new ND3 behind. We couldn’t afford to take the payments over but my cousin sacrificed his mustang and was able to save the car from the bank. These cars aren’t just machines, they are a member of our family.

18 months ago something happened to me that put me into the pits of hell, I slowly recovered and a few months later to help me recover I bought my favourite MX5, a beautiful and original red NA MX5. It didn’t save my life, but it certainly helped me get it back again, best purchase of my life, it gives me so much joy. And recently had my niece come back into our lives after 10 years (avoiding her mother) had such a wonderful day to have her back again, she was so excited to see my little red mx5, that I took her out in it, she loved it so much that I let her drive. She was bursting out with joy and laughter and said “best day ever”. I will hold that dear to me forever. What a car. Also loved the intro into this, very cool, and just subscribed, because I can tell this is going to be a channel to watch. Good luck with it!

I think I desperately need it too. But at the moment it’s just not possible. I don’t put my phone away though. I don’t look at als messages etc anyway. But I need some positive vibe so I can fall asleep. So. Today I read Rome and Julia. Yes on my phone. And now I just need some positiv thought what guides me to sleep. Maybe a little obsession to a car helps ?

I have an s2k, so not quite a Miata but I've gone out for a drive and come back feeling refreshed. I'll say though, don't rely solely on a car to find peace and joy... Remember this truth... When we have peace with God, we have peace within. Open the Bible, and pray consistently in difficult times and he'll never let you down. Then hop in your MX-5 for a drive 👍

I always drive without the radio or any crap coming out of the speakers. Driving my MX5 is the best feeling.

I got a manual BRZ in grad school in a science field. Fun healthy way to get out of the house and let my mind go numb. The ND was what I was originally looking to buy as a cheap enthusiast car

Same. Same. Same. My MX5 is my therapy and something that gives me a feeling of freedom when going places with it. Away from most humans and to all these nice backroad places.

All my life I've dreamt of owning a car. Everything I love is car related. Almost a year ago, my parents told me that they would get me the car I've been dreaming of since I was 12, the ND. I got my dream spec too, a 1.5 soft top ND2 with my favourite color ever, Platinum Quartz Metallic. I've lowered her and have done a few other mods. I've learnt revmatching, heel-toe and I'm learning to drift. The last day of 2024, my beloved childhood dog died, who was with me almost all my life. It was very hard for me, so I went for a drive. The next day, I went to my friends who still had snow in their village so we went drifting on an empty parking lot, top down at 0° Celsius. Then I remembered how fun life is with this car, it was truly made for me. I am now at about 10.000km after 9 months, and I want to drive and keep her forever.

This is great mate, and I love this little corner of the internet of people who care about driving their cars for fun instead of the majority of people who just want fast cars in a straight line to brag. I've got an i30N (purchased new in July), putting the windows down and hearing the exhaust roar while driving in some winding roads is definitely therapeutic. Stay safe!

Interesting perspective

Living, breathing human being. Check. Car enthusiast. No. However, I have a 2016 mx5 soft top Icon, which I have driven to/around Portugal in, been on hundreds of countryside drives in and occasionally thrashed the pants off. I love it. My youngest daughter is constantly asking if we can take it for a spin and always with the top down, no matter what the weather (even light rain, sometimes). It's an absolute remedy. A tonic. A gin and tonic, even. I will always have one.

Just wow. That opening especially was so impressive. Your writing and delivery are so tight and refined. As someone who has watched OG TopGear for decades this really reminded me of a blend that fell neatly between Clarkson and May for style and soul and I'm not overstating.
