    Keep your battery (if equipped) on a trickle charger. Run generator at least twice a year for at least 15 minutes. Never store more then 1/2 a gallon of gas in it. Use only ethanol free gas (due to long down times). If you run on gas shut fuel off from tank and burn gas out of your carburetor (run it out of gas). If possible track usage and maintain based on hours. Check oil and filter before each start up and look for rodent activity, no exceptions. A mouse next in your engine cooling fins or in the air filter will kill your engine.

    Great video for someone in dire need for power during a power outage. Most people are poor planners. Hence why there are soo many videos like this on YT. My only 2 issues with this generator is it is too close to the house. Second is the noise level. I’m sure that it will be loud as hell! By the end of the first hour of use their head will be ringing like a bell from the noise. No one ever mentions the noise. I’m a power lineman for the local power company where I live. I hear many generators running after a one day power outage. They are all very loud. Bleary eyed residents want to know when the power will be back on? Most complain about a neighbors noisy generator running 24/7. Why do people buy them is beyond me? The first priority should be the noise factor when selecting a generator. We have the quietest home generator at our house. We have a Honda inverter with a closed frame. It powers up my entire house including all sensitive electronics. Most everything you buy today for your home is micro-processor controlled. That includes most appliances in your home. It runs our central air too. The bigger the generator the louder it becomes & the more fuel it consumes. Something to think about when you’re out of power more than a day. A generator like this has a set engine speed to maintain 120/240 voltage (power for the home). This model probably burns a lot of gas? If your tapped into natural gas? Natural gas is pressurized by pumps that run on power along the way to your home. If you live in an area that was hit hard by Hurricane Helene? The natural gas pump stations might have been shut down from loss of power? Hence why having jugs of gasoline on hand is a better idea. Most people only store 10 gallons of gas for their generator. They buy it just before the storm arrives. After 1 day they are screwed because most gas stations can’t pump fuel without power. So they have to travel far & wide in search of fuel (stupid). I store enough fuel for a three week interruption. By the end of three weeks the fuel stations should be back on? If not the power? My neighbors all think we must have a dedicated line from the power company because they see our power is on & they can’t hear our generator.

      When you are exhausted the sound doesn't bother you. A pair of cheap foam earplugs also do wonders. A Trifuel generator will also run on propane and stores indefinitely. I bought a 100lb tank on clearance at Lowes for $59. I also have two 40lb tanks on my RV that I keep filled, as well as numerous 20lb tanks I've picked up for free and exchanged them for Blue Rhino tanks. Yes I know they short the propane but that's not the point. The point is I found expired nasty tanks and replaced them for certified nice tanks. I refill everything at either Uhaul or Tractor Supply. One 20lb tank will get me 5 hours of use. If I cycle the generator I use maybe 2 tanks a day. You don't need to run a generator non stop. Keep the refrigerator cool, the frozen frozen, and we run dual inverter AC units during storms. Cool the house down, shut off the generator, and when it gets unbearable fire the generator back up via the remote control. Of course the propane is just a back up for the Nat Gas in case it's down which has never happened. Another thing worth noting is a 13,000w generator will only output 10500w with gasoline. Propane and Natural gas you loose a bunch of that output. I only get 9500w out of mine on Propane, and 8500w on Nat Gas.

    • @johnclyne6350
      @johnclyne6350 9 дней назад

      @@FauxQue-yk8dtYou obviously did your homework! I'm glad to see another prepper out there. Yes,I've never seen the natural gas go silent but you never know? As for the down grading on the generator? Why is that generator named 13,000 watts when it isn't? That seems deceptive? My Honda is rated for 5500 watts steady & up to 7000 watts surge. I have tested mine & the surge is a lot higher. I have pushed it to 9200 watts before the breaker tripped. As for the noise? You must not have neighbors near by? Mine are practically arms length away. If someone sneezes next door we all say God Bless. I was on a job after Storm Isais where we were down to the onesies & twosies of outages. They are repaired at the tail end of the storm incase you didn't know? The customer had a very loud Generac roll out. It was a monster in terms of size. His yard was littered with empty jugs of gasoline. He had used up all his reserved fuel but never thought to have more than 3 days of fuel? We were there on day ten. His generator was only capable of running his 2 freezers & fridge & his other appliances. His well pump was working so they could run water & flush the toilet. Not enough to run his A/C. (He obviously doesn't know a thing about load management). He & his wife were tone deaf from the generator & they were hot & sweaty. They were over joyed we were there to put their lights on. A small tree took down their service drop. Their service was destroyed. We replaced it & put it back on for them. They were clicking their heels after the generator was shut off & their A/C was now working again.

      @@johnclyne6350 I have a Suncoast plastic building that was designed to hold a pair of rolling trash bins. I bought to vinyl gable vents from Lowes and installed them in the back wall for fresh air. On one side I used a whole house squirrel cage fan that came from a typical indoor air handler. It's overkill but I already had it laying around. The other side has a hole cut out with an outdoor 4 outlet cover. It has a flip door. I run the gas line and the output cable from the generator. In the front right door I cut a hole and used the same outlet cover. That hole is for the exhaust pipe from the engine. On the end of the pipe I have a Ford Tractor muffler from Tractor supply. That's the best I can do for the neighbors. It's still loud but it's a Honda V Twin engine. All that said. I haven't used it since Hurricane Irma. I lose power occasionally but that's cover by the DIY solar system. Just under 7000w of panels, a 6500w inverter, and 21.4kw of LiFePo4 batteries. But I still have the generator and all of the propane just in case. Someday when I'm not being lazy, and this would be the perfect time I need to sell the huge generator and down size it. I don't need all of that power with the solar. I just need enough juice to recharge my battery bank. Everything is also got it's replacement if it dies. I have an extra MPPSolar LV6548, an extra combiner box, and 15 extra solar panels. So far the panels on the roof have survived several small hurricanes. There's also an array of 10 panels leaning across the back fence. Helene knocked one of the verticle panels over so I laid down the other 4. The other 5 panels are leaning horizontal and I thought they'd be fine. Lol. I was wrong. We heard a big crash and 4 of the 5 decided to blow over. Not a single panel shattered. For Milton I laid them all down. Once they fill with water they're not going anywhere.

    • @johnclyne6350
      @johnclyne6350 6 дней назад

      @@DuroMaxPower My enclosure was designed by a professional steel fabricator. He was a volunteer fire fighter in two neighboring towns. He suggested relocating my genny outside for a more permanent set up. However he has happened to see folks putting their generators inside those cheap plastic sheds with very small vents. He has happened to be at fires where the generator ran inside those plastic sheds setting them on fire from lack of flow through ventilation. He designed an enclosure for mine that exceeds the requirements for ventilation & heat dissipation. Mine is made of 306 stainless steel on a poured in place concrete pad. The longest my genny has run continuously was 54 hours. The enclosure was only warm to the touch by the exhaust pipe. Otherwise it was cold steel. My enclosure was built before the pandemic so prices aren’t what they would be now. I paid $2700 just for the enclosure. About half the price of my generator. I spared no expense when I had mine built. It shows. If you want to see what it looks like? With my genny running under load. Go to my home page & look up the two videos on it. You’ll be impressed.

      For NG that is trickier but definitely recommended for LPG.

    This guy is a moron. People don’t do this with your gas meter. He’s going off the outlet bypass and it’s illegal. And if you don’t know what you’re doing around gas it’s very dangerous.

    Try fuel natural gas please... The warranty is stellar, is there the opportunity to extend it out to 10 years?

     Dallan Stephens 1.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase Died after 6 months of occasional use-- Warranty service ---say they will call but don't!!! Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2023 Style: 9,000-Watt Dual Fuel Yes I bought this generator in March it ran really good for a few months being used every other week for a short period of time then about a month ago it started having issues when starting with some smoke coming out like the choke was stuck in the on position if you turned it off again sometimes it would start up and run fine- then it would hardly turn over so I made sure the battery wasn't the issue and had it tested. I even tried a new battery and it did the same thing- but it did run once after the new battery just fine then would start again now it won't even turn over. All the lights come on the front and the battery is on a trickle charger to keep full. I have changed the oil as recommended and checked the air filter--- just yesterday I found some troubleshooting videos and went through them. I checked the oil level and then found and disconnected the oil sensor wire to see if that was the problem. No change I am needing this up and running because the RV is being lived in and we use this to recharge our solar unit every so many days for an hour or two. My problem sounds like a common problem in the 1 star category!!

    I own 2 of these generators. I was so happy when I received my first one in 2022. It really came in useful in 2023 when our East Texas spring storms hit. We were living in our RV while remodeling our home. We were out of power for 4 days and our 90lb propane tank would last 24 hrs. The next time the power went out it would not run. I replaced the regulator, no luck, had to run it on gas. I bought another one when they went on sale at Amazon to use for the house. The box was damaged and I probably should have sent it back. I unpacked it and the only damage I could see was the air filter housing was bent up. I called customer service and they sent me a new one. This unit was purchased in October 2023. We had 3 hrs on this one, connected to our 300 gal propane tank. It ran fine for the 3 hrs. and then shut down.I called customer service again and was told it was probably the CO sensor. So I replaced it and no luck. I've checked the oil level numerous times and replaced the regulator on this one too. No luck. We have been having power outages numerous times this year and so I decided to just go with gas again. It still won't stay running. Trust me, I have used the other one enough, and read the owners manual many times over. I know all the settings for either propane or gas use. I'm so frustrated at this point as we have more storms headed our way. We can always go to the RV as long as I have plenty of gas on hand. 5 gallons will last 8 hrs. I did a lot of research before settling on the Duromax, which has 4.5 stars, but now I have big time buyers remorse. So disappointed, one will run only on gas, and the other newer one won't run on anything.

    Add the $300 and get the honda. Mine only lasted about a year. call and talk with customer service guy and explain all of my concerns. He is completely scripted. The conversation from his end could be described as disingenuously over-cheery, while conspicuously disinterested and unsympathetic. I would be surprised if there were more than 10 words strung together that didn't come straight from a laminated script. When I gave him my credit card number to pay for the shipping he said, "Now unfortunately it appears that the part is on a backorder, and we won't be able to ship it until October 3rd (this was the end of August)" I say "Wait... What???" He says "Yeah, and normally we wouldn't charge you for the shipping until we sent the part, but because it's more than 30 days away, we're going to need to settle (the script's less confrontational word for "charge") today, otherwise when it goes more than 30 days without being paid for the system will cancel the order." The word "backorder" makes me leery, especially if it's more than a week or 2 because in my experience it can also be synonymous with "we don't know when it will be here, but this will give you really low expectations that will be easier to deal with if things don't go as we hope." I paid the fee, so we'll see what happens, but this was such a disappointing experience. The shipping wasn't very much, but by putting it on me for their faulty part seems ridiculous. I will never buy another Duromax product again. Unreliable and unsupportive. 1,368 people found this helpful Thank you for your feedback. Share
