Drag racing chassis and suspension part 1
you only want a tiny bit of puddle just before the intake valve it reatomizes later but chrysler put a tiny bump just before the valve if you ever look into a 906 head theres a small bump its supposed to stay .
when your carburetor bowls are set correctly, then after you kill it and get out,& back in a little fuel comes out into the intake so that it has time to atomize before the combustion chamber. if not, you have to pump the gas so it will start. floats set to high and you fowl out the plug's and also wash the cylinders out and cause it to smoke.
Excellent vid!
Thanks
Not much JR stuff on youtube. Nice.
Ya don't see much, hopefully start doing a little more
Nice
Thanks
Do solod bushings feel like garbage on a daily driver? I plan on taking my car to the auto cross track omxe in a while other then that its a daily driver.
Actually I didn't even notice them in the street car. But wanted them in the race car. And already had the urethane laying around.
Nice job tony
Thanks
I recently bought a 454 from the wrecking yard and it was also a two bolt main and it came out of a motorhome. I am building a tourqe motor for my Suburban 4x4 so I can tow and also go 4 wheeling.
Sounds like a lot of fun. Good luck with your build
Cool burnout!!🔥
Would've been better if the exhaust didn't hit me in the side of the head and scare the crap out of me
@@shattereddreamsracing5624 I agree on that lol!
You missed the whole burnout lol, need to take lessons from the wife and kids lol
When the exhaust hit me it startled me never been 5 feet from a 3500hp burnout
Excellent real world info, no music, no BS. Thanks!
Thank you appreciate your comment
Huh. Now please answer that phone.
Actually the Mark IVs usually DO come with steel shim head gaskets, most say GM right on them (as apparently did your as the GM stamping outline was left behind on your deck surface). I know what you are saying about 4 bolt mains but very few Mark IVs were 4 bolt and none I've seen from motorhomes were ever 4 bolt. Otherwise thanks for the entertainment.
Thanks for the info, appreciated
Our race track is going to open in March so i get to race this year. Have not raced in 10 years. Can't wait.
Which track is that?
@@shattereddreamsracing5624 It used to be called RedLine raceway east of Dallas but how it will be called I30 raceway.
Oh cool. Way down in Texas. Sweet, reopening a dragstrip. Always good. We are up in Prince George, BC Canada. Race at NITRO Motorsports Park
sounds good.
Thanks
Thought I did excessive burnouts 😂👍🏻
End of the year. Had to make it good. Lol
Shattered Dreams Racing I’m with you
was that all there was all day long?
Yes. Was a full day test n tune session.
Headers and exhaust
Gonna have some special stuff. Gotta watch and find out
Yes it WAS a running motor lol also, knock knock.... who's there.... cylinder #2 haha
Yep pretty much. Probably could've run. Would've been very noisy though and bout in a good way.
Live and learn, even the best have bad days
Very true
Does it make a difference after
Feel wise I actually didn't notice anything going from the solid to the urethane. Although I had made a mistake with the solid ones when I installed then. The big difference will be when I install there solid properly on the Race car.
Thanks for the info. Is there a big difference between running with or without return line?
You are welcome. Depends on the system. If you are running a high pressure or high volume pump running a return line can keep the fuel cooler and not overwork the pump with excess restriction. My pump is matched pretty close to my engine slightly more volume output.
what u doin man trying to make some fake beadlocks 😂
Pretty much. This is the lower budget solution.
What fuel pump did you use
Im using a Holley Blue pump.
Hey Shattered Dreams Racing. Great vid friend! Keep them coming. Please check out Mt channel. Maniacal s10. Thanks! Mike.
Thanks Mike. Will do.
That is some good racing. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for Commenting. We appreciate it.
Did your leak go away i just found this same issue with my c clips
Yes it did. The RIGHT STUFF for the win
Great job, best I have done was down to 3 cars then it rained us out.
Hate rain. Lol. Ruins good race days. I had a problem with that until last year started breaking my semifinal curse
Damn everything looks awesome!!
Thanks. I appreciate that.
What happened to the big block.
Spun a rod bearing. Decided to go LS engine. Be building a big block soon. Have a truck that needs torque.
I need to catch up on your build. also subbed for updates.
Need to make more videos. Going to be doing more updates on the car soon.
Where in Canada are in?
Prince George BC
are you using the coil packs ? i saw the "moneyshot" video and saw none. god I have so many questions as I'm going to carb my LS similar to your setup. thank you so much!
Yes i'm using the coil packs. Using an MSD ignition box.
love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
THANK YOU! gained your 77th subscriber I think
Thanks for following along
How much did it cost for your whole build up of the 6.0 motor. I have a 71 400 formula, roller. I also have this 6.0 out of a 04 Denali that I’m waiting to build for that firebird.
+Andres Turner the long block is stock. Added a cam intake and carb. Making 450hp
+Andres Turner personally would go with the LS. Easier HP and way stronger motor.
+Andres Turner build up and install costs me about 5 grand ish. Could probably do it cheaper but that's what I spend
Do you have somewhere, a list of the parts you up into the engine?
+Andres Turner yes I do. Out of town at the moment. Remind me Monday night and I can get you a list
Holley oil pan part # 302-2, edelbrock victor jr intake, quick fuel 850 carb, hooker headers 1 3/4" primaries, comp cams 54-446-11 ground with a 108* lobe seperation, springs that were recommended for the cam, 1" setback motor mount adapters, comp cams trunion upgrade for rockers, any other questions? if you go back in my videos you will also see I did this swap in my camaro as well. Used factory accesories off the LQ4.
Thank you! I’ll definitely be looking back at all your videos. Keep it up!
Rod journal #4 is ALWAYS the failure on BBC, for some reason.
+FABRIC8TIONUNLIMITE1 ya I tried everything to make it last with a stock crank. But no dice. Revved it to high. And done.
I've had rod journal # 4 fail on two 454's (Neither one built by me at the time) then rebuilt the Gen. V myself good as gold. Next year should complete Mark IV, will break it in on engine test stand I plan on fabricating. I saw a guy's vid. on you tube and somebody made a comment nice car, his response was " engine torn down due to bearing failure". I asked if it was rod journal # 4 ? His reply "why YES IT WAS". Shaking my chin. SMC
+FABRIC8TIONUNLIMITE1 yep it is a definite weak spot.
I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I've seen it twice in mine, once in yours and heard from a u tuber about his. I'll see if I can find that vid. with his response.
+FABRIC8TIONUNLIMITE1 that would be great. I've had 1 other 454 do it as well. I had the crank cross drilled, high volume oil pump, 8 liter oil pan and still did it. Want happy
I’m putting a 6.0 in my 94 Chevy 2500 and it has a 4l80e in it now what spacer did u use for the trans
+Shane Wiesepape the 6.0L usually come with a spacer between crank and fly wheel. It's .400" thick. If not they are easy to get
Okay thanks man
+Shane Wiesepape no problems
I don't know that its the case here, but I avoid high-volume oil pumps in big-block Chevys. They don't hold that much oil in the pan but the pumps move it in a hurry and at prolonged even "medium-speed" operation its pretty easy to pump enough oil to the top end of the engine to start losing oil pressure. And the rods bearings will start starving for oil before the oil pressure gauge shows the dropping pressure.
DEEREMEYER1 there was just a regular oil pump. I think. Lol. Was out of a motor home
+DEEREMEYER1 sorry my reply took so long. Wasn't the case here. I modified my pan to good extra oil with big side kick outs. Problem was me over revving the motor. I hit 7000RPM with a stock bottom end. Driver fault not motor. It just got there so quick and I didn't have a Rev limiter yet
The vast majority of big-blocks in general including 454s are 2-bolt main blocks. Big-blocks have those huge 2-bolt blocks and to be honest 4-bolt blocks are a win/lose situation. Sure you get more "clamping force" but its at the expense of less block main bearing web material, strength and rigidity. The main reason they're found in truck and industrial big-blocks and small-blocks is for added security and "safety" during high-load/high-temp engine operation lugging the hell out of things when pinging and detonation can occur but you don't have much choice but to keep your foot in it and ride it out. The shock and stress loads of detonation rattles the whole block and those vibrations find their way through the crankshaft to the main caps. 4 bolts are mainly just an insurance policy and PROBABLY CYA for GM warranty departments, lol. Everybody associates pinging with catastrophic detonation but there's a lot of difference between LOAD pinging and LEAN FUEL MIXTURE PINGING, which is when things get ugly. There are obviously a lot of 4-bolt 454 blocks out there too but they're mainly found in light trucks and other "heavy-duty" applications. As you move into the Mark IV engines pretty much all 454s are 4-bolt main blocks as far as I know. But the older the engines get the fewer 4-bolts there are.
The big block chevy is a beautiful, wonderful design, but the stroke is way too much for the deck height & rod length. Bump up your oil pressure to 80+ lbs, never spin it over 4500 RPM, run a 427 forged crank & you might get 150,000 miles on a top notch rebuild. I've never dismantled a chevy that didn't have completely destroyed bearings.
Logan's Hot Rod & 4X4 thank you for your insight. I will keep this in mind when I build my next one.
unlucky ;)
+Derp Sanity definitely. It sucked
great work man, keep it up. i watch every clip. i like how even though you dont have the veiwers (YET!) you treat this very professional. :)
thanks. I try to.
Good job nice
thanks
I was there for that race, Beat of record of 206 mph
the record at the beginning of the weekend was 200.5mph. he set it Saturday to 214.9 and Sunday to 224mph
+Shattered Dreams Racing He beat the record again to 224 I wasn't there for that one only for the 214 mph
The 224 was this pass on Sunday
pulling the clutch instead of dropping it to save parts. this is my summer cruiser. Lol
sleepin off the line.maybe ya needed a line
you bet. and still faster than you mustang mike. lmao
it's a Japanese " no moto car " is this the model you push???????????
yes. way better than the last one. so excited.
Nice find! Can't go wrong. You should be able to make that move.
