Thank you for sharing your prepping methods.
Waste wool makes good utility felt or you can make balls in panty hose and toss in the wash. Remove nylons before the dryer. To make them pretty, needle felt a prettier roving on top and run through the laundry again. Dryer balls or soft indoor balls for kids and pets.❤
Wearing a leather apron is a good idea if you are using combs.
Thank you so much for this tutorial
Wow great teaching!! Thank you from Maine!
Good video! Thank you😊
Greetings from Norway! Thank you for these nice demonstrations, I'm now on a mission to make a couple of wool combs myself!
Lovely story! I would love to see more of you and your dropspindles! I spin a lot on Turkish spindles, and love it. Greetings from London, UK
Very helpful, thorough explanation. I really like your step-by-step teaching. Combs have been tricky for me and this should help!
Excellent ❤
Thank you so much for sharing <3
why did warp speed make me cackle? lolol
Hi from New Zealand really enjoyed your most informative message many thanks sue
I have just started learning to spin and was wondering where the roving i was using came from. this video answered every question i had AND showed me what i needed to know if i want to go from sheep to sweater! thank you for posting this!
Love your instructional style, would love to see more. Hackle?
YAY! This was GREAT!! Thank you!
This was SO SO SO cool! Thank you! I'm going to head to search your collection for how to wash and prepare the fiber, as I was gifted some Yorkshire llama fiber that has not been processed at all.
You make it look so easy 😅❤
So you don’t pick the fiber first? That’s where I went wrong
how are you ur videos is very useful for me can i contact with u
Wonderful video! Thank you so much. I'm working on a final project for a history class-- I chose to compare early modern wool working to modern. I've never had to use combs before so I appreciate the instruction!
Your lessons are the best I found in the WWW. Also the other videos are very - very good explained. I am from Germany and I am sorry that you do not go any further. Many Greetings
This is excellent. Thank you.
Can the fuzzy leftovers be carded into rolags? Or are they more for stuffing ?
Yes, they can be used in that way -- and for things like felting, making dryer balls, and, as you say, stuffing. Birds love them, too, at nest-making time! It's definitely not waste. At worst, it can go into the compost heap and replenish the soil. 😀
Great demo! These are the kind of combs I have and have never used. NOW I WILL! Thank you so much for the very clesr demo.
Merci
Yay!!! I love your colors :)
I'm so glad I clicked on this! I've never seen anyone flick this way--but it sure looks a lot easier on your hands than the way I've been doing it. And it makes more sense--the word is flick, not drag, after all. Thanks!
What book is this
It's Anne Dixon. I think the title is The Handweaver's Directory of Weaving Patterns, a good one.
Thank you that was so helpful. I recently purchased combs and just wasn’t quite sure how to use them. I now feel fully confident using them :)
Amazing video!
Good work. It is our pleasure to recommend our small carding machines to you. Easy to use and free to produce felt/sliver. ruclips.net/video/8p6KwPFH6y0/видео.html
Salute to you, ma'am. You have dexterous hands. Allow me to recommend to you our small carding machines. It is very convenient to use and can freely choose to produce felt/sliver. ruclips.net/video/8p6KwPFH6y0/видео.html
It was fun watching you, 90 degrees is far too hot for me…..
Hi Thanks for the video it will help me when I show the lady's at the weavers ,spinners and chef's how to use the combs. I've only tried them once before and wanted to see the best way to use them. Thanks again I shall point out your videos to the lady's also so that they can also learn from you. Have subscribed and looking forward to learning more Sheila
Where did you get your wool picker?
You are a great teacher. Thanks for this video. I will have to watch more of you..
Thanks for a great video on how to use combs. I have some Lincoln wool that I’ve wanted to comb and now I know how.
Very helpful video. Thank you. I'm brand new at this. Can you do a video on the difference between carding and combing? I'm trying to figure out if I need to do both.
You are a great teacher. I hope you do more videos.
Huge thank you for your clear demonstration on using combs. I am a new spinner and new to fleece preparation so I am desperate for information! I've managed to make a small pile of candyfloss Portland fleece, am delighted!
look at this, ma'am ruclips.net/video/8p6KwPFH6y0/видео.html
Thanks for the detailed instructions! This was super useful ☺️
This was exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you for posting clear instructions!
Does this method work with finer, more slippery fiber like alpaca?
I need the stand. My combs did not come with one.
So I have a few questions about the actual process of making the fabric. 1. What kind of loom do you guys use 2. How do you get/make the fluff whefts, are there multiple methods? 3. Do you put a sealant like glue on the back of the faux fur once done. 4. What is the actual step-by-step process of making the fabric and how time-consuming it is. You don't have to answer all, but it would be a big help since I'm trying to find how people do it and so far no video at all helped 😅. Thank you for reading this comment if you did and hope you have a great day/night!
I'm curious about this too. Clearly it's a large, professional loom with a foot pedal. The tufts look like something you would pull off a carding brush, which would be raw wool but might be snipped and combed wool yarn. Actually my biggest question here is, is it possible to get the same effect by threading raw wool onto a yarn needle and stitching it through, or would that lose stability. Might have to test that myself.
Thanks for the demonstration. You explained a lot. Now I can use my combs.
I've been thinking about getting combs to replace my old carders. You've pretty much ended the internal debate with your clear demonstration. I gotta have a pair of combs! Thank you.
Thank you so much for your very clear informative demonstration. I had only just heard about the combs as I only knew of hand carders, so it was great seeing how these are used.
Thank you for a great video. And you are adorable. So pretty and sweet.
Thank you for this. This was a great refresher for me. Nearly 30 years ago(!) I took a class with Celia Quinn, and bought a gorgeous set of 5 pitch Meck English combs. I want to use them again, and your video was the perfect reminder of the motions etc.
I'm glad you found it helpful
