This is a short not very in-depth overview of a few early data general nova cards in my collection. This is just a quick video and I’m a little under the weather too but thought sharing these is more important.

Remex RRS1150 paper tape reader from 1971 first test with tape and spools

This is my early 1970s remex high speed paper tape reader which after replacing some of the capacitors is now fully functional. Next step is to make up the interface cable and remove some pull up resistors on the output to make this identical to the data general high speed paper tape reader. Next stage in my paper tape journey would be to make a USB interface for this so I can archive the colle...
😅
those platers look like they fit into my hp7925 drive
Good to see that everything reached you in (more or less) good nick!
Lots of really great stuff and a lot of work to get it all preserved properly. Thank you
That’s a bad tube right there , I had a kt 66 do that when I received it of eBay and plugged it in , but I must say the colours are out of an LSD trip 😂
Let's get you a DG Nova 1200 CPU tester for that rare v18 board!
Nice collection! I have a couple of wire wrapped ring memory cards for a Nova, as well as a Data General One Pharaoh which was used by DG techs who were in the field working on Novas and other DG minicomputers
Very nice. Those DG pharaohs are very rare now.
I love the big cards with the huge traces and only duble sided. the engineers back then are insane that they were able to build computer so complex on duble sided boards and some bodgewires. nice collection you have here I also got some cards in storage which look similar, I doubt they gonna be anything interesting though...
interesting choice of card size compared to the DEC PDP-8 or PDP-11; they seemed to want to pack a lot of functionality on a single card - explains the need for the card stiffener
Interesting that you mention DEC as the original engineers and founders of DG were ex DEC employees who wanted to move away from the multiple card CPUs that Dec was using at the time so chose to put the whole CPU on a 15 by 15 inch card. Some of these cards are pretty packed but some are very sparse.
no clue what this is doing, but it looks and sounds cool
Wow cool equipment 😮

I used these back in the 90’s when I was in the Air Force. We ran a system called PAMS to manage equipment calibration management schedules and inventory.
Interesting to learn of a use case of these. Thank you
7/10 no tubes
Well the CRT is one
@@jaut-76 amen
I had 6L6's do that on my old 1966 Fender Bassman
I bet that was a sight.
Whats the context? Don't see tubes too often nowadays
I was testing it as I found it in a large lot of tubes I picked up for experiments as well it seems to be bottled lightning.
Rewind, baby, rewind!!!
Congrats! You're doing a great job here...
Thank you I’m trying my best
