Muchas gracias surfing
Lightning bolt ; cool boards in the day .
Shaun the GOAT of Back door pipe. On a single fin. If he was on a 6'4" Quadie, he'd be doing 360's in the tube.
😂
Those Shawn OTW sessions were a seminal moment in surfing history - technically when I look at them now he was using his single fin like a thruster by that wide stance & using his rail as a third fin!
When i reflect in the beginning of surfing for me at 13 years of age,MR and ST were incredible surfers.
Mark Richards was the inspiration for riding twin fins then in 85 Simon Anderson showed off the Thruster aka tri fin that changrf board design till today
For the Dogtown and Z 1:07 Boyz Larry Bertelman and Buttons were a huge influence and doing things so radical on heavy waves.
Can I use some of this footage for a documentary on Spider Murphy, surfboard shaper for Shaun Thompson?
Shaun Thompson was my example as a Surfer. He was Mu inspiration in Mu begining.
These guys truly were our heroes. "The Wounded Gull" MR, Shaun Thompson, Gerry Lopez, Ben Aipa (those new "Stinger" shapes)... What a great time to be a surfing teen. We were in SoCal, but our heroes were across the oceans. J-Bay always looked tremendous. Pipeline. Waimea, Sunset. We lived for Surfer and Surfing magazines.
Yeah. Me also. Based in UK was problematic! We had Cornwall beaches only. Loved these guys!
Me too, 🤗
Love this friendship MR and ST sharing a barrel,I surfed in the 70s on a single fin rounded square, then onto a twin fin, thruster and quad fin,so many memories of fantastic surf in Australia and the islands I Asia and the Pacific, just one with natures glory and the crystalline sea, shall I never forget so much fun, thanks mother earth.
Dane Kealoha was my all time favorite power surfer 🔥⚡️⚡️🤙🏽
When are these numbnuts going to get it right. Shaun’s last name is “Tomson” not “Thompson” this is a disgrace and whoever described him as such should be ashamed of themselves 😡😡
M.R The Wounded Gull!!!
Lá o barato era louco...vacilou ja era...só lamento..
Tengo una tabla de shoan tomson para vender
Look at how he made that lightning bolt ⚡️strike
Poetry in motion.
Shaun likes Tomson better....
👍 BRONZED AUSSIES☆
Esses caras eram artistas. Só Deus pode julgar
Eles tem TALENTO
Só Deus pra ter compaixão
👏👏👏👏
Shaun Tomson
Muito legal ! Devia fazer um vídeo, dos detentos, sobre as maquinas de tatuagens feitas no Carandiru. 👍🤝
Tem as foto da porta?
I love thes
Lindas pinturas ..
One of my favorite clips on youtube. I also like gerry lopez uluwatu and nias, biggest brownest barrels
Look yo the word ‘Retro’ in the dictionary. You will clearly see a pic of Mark Richards
way to use 80's clips and music in a video titled "Mid 70's surf heroes" oh well whos keeping track anyway.
The good Old days , nowadays it's airs , the same shit that's done on a skate board ramp !
Great surfers in the 70s. That move away from longboards started in the late 60s well underway by then. Not knocking longboarding, mix and match myself depending on conditions. I enjoy watching footage of surfers back then than any other era.
I never forgot that ride Shaun was ahead of his time and all done on a single fin nice he really did show us how tube riding was suppose to be done and locals gona hate on him sure he was better he was there competition taking over in there island and im an Islanders too but u gotta give it to him he was that good so was Mark , locals don't like outsiders coming there they don't even like locals coming to there spot so I salute these two legends well done 😁😁
Demais!!!
I remember the 1st stubbies at Burleigh heads think shaun won that classic barrels and watching shaun at j bay blazing through impossibles he shit me off at time coz my girlfriend liked him more than me,,
Michael Peterson won the first Stubbies .
You don’t see style like this these days. Just a bunch of airs.
Finally....a surf video I didn't have to mute.
Shaun Thompson and Mark Richards you're way better than Kelly Slater will ever be it's about Style not tricks
There will never be a time of greatness as that.
Music rocks!
NICE!! That freaking rocked!! Love your addition of Waterfront from Simple Minds which was the perfect choice on this and the first Performers movie!
Simple Minds
I'd say late 70's early eighties surf heroes .
I was out at Cottons just prior to the OP Pro and took off on an outside set, thought I had it all to myself, dropped in and S.T shoulder hopped me, gyrated some speed did a very quick cutback, looked at me, smiled and I cut out. Hell, the dude just flew in from J-Bay and he was a cool dude on top of it. He paddled back out to the line-up and I was on another wave coming at him, he paddled over and said "Thanks mate". Had a short conversation with him back out in the line-up and he was a very cool dude, very real unlike some of the other Pros in the water that week. This film when it was the real deal in 16mm is awesome! ST and MR were some of the very best tube riders at the time. Love these old films but the original footage is insane. Lynch is another cool dude along with M.R
Shaun was raised to be a gentleman. His biography is inspiring.
Mark Richards remains the most stylish surfer ever. His stance should be the model for all. End bowlegged surfing now!
Dogbeach Surfkennel . . .completely agree with you. I saw Mark Richards compete in the early Eighties. He was a great surfer and World Champion for 4 years running! MR cleverly used the twin-fin surfboard UNTIL the tri-fin or "Thruster" took over from 1984 and onwards.
He was definitely stylish. But my vote goes to Jerry Lopez.
@@alann5003lopez god having fun just lord of the waves
