I’m so happy to hear you are all ok! I have family in Florida and thankfully they are ok. I just feel awful for the people it impacted. 💜
This coastal NC hurricane veteran has been concerned about your well being. Glad you and your family are safe.
I’m so sorry to hear about the hurricane and how it had affected your community. It’s truly heartbreaking. I will be keeping you all and everyone effected in my prayers ❤️ Thank you for sharing so many lovely knits. Your sweater 19 is going to be stunning ❤
Hi. I like the sweater you and the pistachio sweater you knitted. You are a very talented knitter. I just finished making a scarf in the colors dark brown and oatmeal, and it came out nice, and I can even wrap it on my head as a hat. It is very warm also. I am sorry for the people that got hurt by the hurricane. I am glad that you and your family are all right. I am like you that I feel for people that got hurt, and I feel that it does help with the spirit to think of them. Take Care. 😊
We've been watching the news in despair for the destruction that has happened to good ppl. No god would be behind this yet i find it contradictory to then say that it was god who spared ppl. Good ppl have lost everything. Imagine having no home, no photos, no clothing. Who caused that then if god was looking after them? In terms of grieving, we can have empathy but we must be careful not to make it about ourselves. Especially if we're safe. I don't honestly know how I would cope if it happened to me. It's unimaginable to see yr home floating dwn a river, or to walk into yr house where thick brown silty mud covers everything. The stench of that would be overpowering. There are ppl out there who lost all their art and craft supplies. Hurricanes are shocking.
I understand your feelings. Unfortunately God never once promised an easy life, for the Christian or otherwise. And we live in a broken world. He allows us to be tested (see book of Job for reference) but our faith can most certainly carry us through disasters such as these. To each their own, of course, but if faith is what is getting someone through, let them have that. In some cases it's all they have, and especially in this corner of the world, many rely on their faith. I hope one day you'll be able to see the goodness of God, even (or more so, especially) amidst trials. I know I personally would not be where I am today if it weren't for my faith in Jesus Christ. His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses, and He is a light in the darkness. ❤️ Thank you for watching!
@@sugarfolkhomemade Oh I agree. My mother was a devout Christian and she NEEDED her religion to get her through. if she didn't have that, she would have been more broken.
I came to RUclips searching to see if you and your family were okay. The devastation from Helene is horrific. My heart breaks for all those who lost loved ones, homes, livelihoods, towns. Its really difficult to wrap your mind around. I'm so glad that you were spared. I've been praying for all those involved. On a side note, your hair looks darling.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Thanks for hopping on to record-I had been worried about you and am so sorry about the devastation, but am glad that your area was spared. I’m across the country, but I have heard many reports on the devastation, so it is being covered in the national media. WNC is in everyone’s thoughts and prayers right now.
That's good to hear, that some news outlets are covering the situation. Thank you ❤️
So glad you’re okay. Praying for the people in the affected states. 😢. I have the same issues with a cardigan I made a while back using the Quince & Co yarn-pilling and decreases noticeable and hard time hiding where I wove some of the ends in. Interesting.
Thank you!! Hmm, that's interesting. Glad I'm not the only one!
I'm so glad you guys are ok!! ❤ We've been praying for the people who've been affected by the hurricanes. I don't know what the US would do without Samaritan's Purse. As well as all of the other loving and caring people who are helping out! I loved seeing your knits! They are all so beautiful!! 💗 Thank you for sharing Makayla! It was so good to see you. Take care! 💕
Thank you Debbie!! I'm hoping soon I can find childcare and spend a day volunteering with Samaritans purse. Many in our church have already been over to "mud out" homes. I'd love to be able to help in a hands on way while sharing the Gospel. ❤️
Thank you for sharing your experience. I live up North and share your sadness. Without podcasters on RUclips I would be completely unaware of the devastation and suffering. The news is not being reported. Much love and prayers to you and to our fellow Americans who are hurting.
Thank you!
I can totally relate- I am currently evacuated from St Petersbug Fl from Hurricane Milton. Thankfully we just got notified that our 100 year old home has survived. It can be so scary. At least in Florida we are prepared to expect this. So glad you are safe.
Oh my, how scary. I'm sorry you had to go through that time, although thankful your home is ok!!
Thank you for sharing about your experience with the hurricane. It sounds so scary and to not have a way to communicate with others….terrifying if you were alone. I’m glad you have family near you! Beautiful projects as always! I love your woven shawl.
Yes we don't realize how much we really rely on communications until you're left without it! Thank you ❤️
I totally get the "survivors guilt" feeling you have. I'm in SE GA and we lost lost of trees and there are still people without power. I just felt so guilty our family is back to normal when so many lost their lives and have seen awful things. Praying for you.
It's a strange feeling, for sure. Anytime I catch myself wanting to complain about any kind of minor inconvenience, I'm humbled.
🙏🙏🙏
Hi from Australasia. Thanks for sharing a little about the cyclone in your area which we did hear about on our news. Just awful… and on the back of that, of course, is the incoming hurricane headed for Florida. Your empathy is a wonderful trait to be blessed with. Loved all your projects and insights in this episode.
Thank you for the update on the region catastrophe. I live across the country from you but it's still heartbreaking! Totally enjoy your podcast.
Sending prayers and love to all in N Carolina💔
I am living in Ireland and I have heard on our news station about the hurricane, I am so sorry to hear about the destruction and the loss of a life in your community, I will remember you all in my prayers, I love your cardigan, that lacework on the back is so pretty, also love your other projects, sending love and hugs from Ireland xx☘
Thank you! ❤️❤️
So glad to hear and see that you're all in one piece! We went through a "100 year" flood in 2013 here in Colorado, and I can so relate to how you're feeling right now. The devastation is overwhelming as well as the impact on people's lives. We know (because we lived through it) that life will be upside down for a long time to come for all those in Helene's path of destruction. We are praying so much for all those who lost loved ones and/or have unimaginable cleanup to tackle. So blessed that you and your family are all OK! Love those 2 new finished sweaters - they are beautiful!! 😘❤
Thank you so much!! Yes it's a long road ahead for our neighboring counties, but I've never seen people come together the way they have. I'm confident that love and hospitality for one another will see everyone through ❤️
Why do people call it a podcast when it is on youtube? Thank you for the video.❤
@@kaffe-kaka you know, I've wondered the same thing lol. I'm just following the crowd 😅
Glad to see your all well, I always look forward to your next video. May God bless and keep you safe in his arms. I have been praying for the victims of the hurricane. Thanks for bringing up Samaritan Purse. Disasters always bring bad people who are looking to make money for there own pocket at the expense of others, but also brings the truly wonderful people who want to help others.
Thank you! Yes, it can be overwhelming sometimes trying to figure out where to donate. But I've seen firsthand and plan to volunteer soon, how Samaritans purse is working in these areas!
I am so glad that you and your family are safe. I wear my heart on my sleeve too. My dad and step-mom are in St. Pete and they are evacuating again today for Milton. Your projects are beautiful.
Thank you! I hope they stayed safe through the storm ❤️
So glad to see you. I’ve been praying for your family.
So glad you and your family are safe. We got hit too but not very bad. It’s been pretty devastating for this part of the country. Praying for all 🙏🏼🫶🏻 Everyone who can help please pray and support the Red Cross and other organizations that are helping those affected.
Glad to hear you and your family are safe. Praying for all those effected by the hurricane.
My heart, prayers and thoughts are with you, your family and all residents affected by Helene. I have seen heartbreaking videos and photos of the devastation which is simply unbelievable! I am so glad to hear you and yours are safe though understandably stressed or traumatized. Knitting and crochet will see you through 😊🙏💜
So glad to see you.. Missed you! So thankful your family is ok. I live in upstate NY and I have had such a burden for western NC (and surrounding areas hit by Helene) and have been praying for you all. I completely understand your grief for others... I have cried and cried and it's hard to fathom the devastation and the lasting impact so many will have. I will keep praying. <3
Glad that you and your family are well. I have family in Boone, Highlands, and Asheville. Thankfully they are all safe. Some have damage to their cars and homes.
@@melissaemery8686 glad your family is safe!! Sorry they were left with damage 😔
You are much in my thoughts and I cannot help but feel concern given that western NC has been disastrously affected by Helene. Praying that you and family, friends and neighbors are safe. 💜🙏
Thank you so much! My family and I are safe. ❤️ I will be able to update more when communications are restored.
@@sugarfolkhomemade Thank you so much for letting me know. I am not on IG so this only way for communications. So glad you are safe and well!
Thinking of you…hope you and your family are safe. 😢
Thank you so much. My family and I are safe ❤️ I will update more when our communications are restored.
What a fun podcast! I loved seeing all your projects. Wo❤rking on patritic socks for my husband. ❤❤ Have a great week.
I’m glad you found time to pop on for a podcast. I think it’s great that you’re finding balance with your two hobbies so far-I always think summer is the most challenging time of year to run too. I hope that your homeschool gets off to a great start!
The Jackaroo Cardigan came to mind for your brown yarn. It's by Amy Herzog. I made this many years ago and it's one of my favorites to wear still.
Poet Scarf is def on my list! But all of your projects look beautiful, you are an inspiration!
You are awesome 3th is super good🎉 congrats
Cute top! I hope you have a great homeschool year! My youngest just graduated in May so my homeschool days are done, bittersweet!
Laura Aylor creates patterns primarily in sport. You should give her patterns a look.
Oh no, you've made me want to start fall knitting. Must finish some wips first! X
Congrats on the race. I’m a knitter and runner as well have a half marathon in 2 weeks it’s my last Disney run for a while. It was nice to hear a fellow knitter talk about their exercise routine. I swear if I ever upload on RUclips which I haven’t yet it would be a focus of workout and crafts.
Aw that's awesome!! My half is in January so I have a longer training plan than typical, which is good for me as I have to increase mileage very slowly to avoid tendonitis flare ups. Good luck and have fun!!
You are amazing! How do you get so much done...love all your projects!!
It makes me happy you say that because I feel like I get nothing done! Haha
It's so nice to see you again!! I loved seeing all of your projects. They really are beautiful, Makayla. 💖 I'm so glad Fall will be here soon too!! 😊
I like the life updates! I also particularly like when they’re at the beginning of the episode. I recently took up running too. I use the Just Run app. I did a 5 km cancer society run before my daughter was born and that was 6 years ago. So I’m a bit rusty but like how it makes me feel to run again
Hi Mikayla, the crochet blanket is lovely. Wish I could crochet. I would love to learn the C2C crochet blanket pattern. The Vilma top fits you perfectly. I have a light blue DK weight cotton and want to use it for that pattern. The pattern projects on Ravelry seem to have had a gauge issue, so it might work with the DK. Will have to swatch. Its winter here in South Australia but were in drought till last week with no rain.
I definitely had trouble getting gauge with the Vilma with aran weight. I think a dk would work nicely.
I love running in the rain! It makes me feel like James (Jane?) Bond! Good for you! The Couch-to-5k training plan seems to work well for people. I sold running shoes and fit running bras in a former life, and it's super-important you get a good pair by someone who looks at your gait. Socks and bras are next, but after that, you don't need anything fancy. People tell you that you do but you don't haha. Your knits/crochets look amazing, as always!! ♥
Thank you! I did a plan similar to the couch to 5k! I did a ton of research to figure out the best shoes for me and I think I've nailed it down, but I still have to be careful to increase my mileage very slowly or my tendonitis flares up. Which is hard because I just wanna run everyday 🤣
Oh and if you have sock recommendations I would love that! Ive been looking at feetures but they're so pricey ! Not sure if they're worth the money
@@sugarfolkhomemade I totally get it with socks. My Feetures have lasted ages, so the investment IS worth it, but it does still sting to drop that much on one pair of socks (that you didn't knit). depending on how you like your athletic socks, I will say Feetures often has that real plastic-y synthetic feeling. Balega (my husband won't wear anything else) is nice if you want socks that are thin on top and really cushy underneath and they are not so synthetic-feeling, but they're still about the same price point as Feetures. Same goes for Thorlos - that seems to be a tried-and-true brand. Oh gosh, I haven't talked running socks in forever - thanks for that lol.
@@lizwhaley9676 okay I will definitely look into some of those!! Thank you!
Mikaela, I probably have more expensive past times than you.... My #1 is Horses. I've owned as many as 8! at one time. I also love growing roses, which is great when the horses that produce free fertilizer. 😅 I try to keep other hobbies down to a dull roar, and try to buy for a specific project. I Knit, Quilt and Sew! I'm just starting the second flower pattern repeat on my Vilma top. I started at the bottom with the lace edge, which was a slog to plough through.😵💫 I think I told you I'm knitting this out of Cascade 220 in the colorway Westpoint. I think this will be great for fall. 🍂
Yeah I think you might have me beat! 🤣🤣 Would love to see your Vilma when you finish it! ❤️
Giiiirl, every time I see one of your videos I feel like we are SO similar. I’ve been a runner since my late teens. So knitting, running, and gardening is where it‘s at for me - in no particular order 😂. I’ve been telling my husband that running is the perfect hobby for me because I do it in the early morning hours and it doesn’t take away from my time with the kids - or my knitting. Also, I know the feeling of burning out with gardening by late summer. Happens to me almost every year. I love your makes, keep up the good work! And I love your piercing. ❤
Aw I love this!! Thank you 🥰🥰
Lovely channel you are creating! Subscribing now and look forward to your next episode. So sorry to hear about the two chickens that have gone missing. 😢
Oh my goodness you are adorable!! My mum just shared your channel with me and I’m obsessed 😍🦋💐💐💐💐
Mikaela your natural waistline is half way between your ribcage and the top of hip bones, and not the top of hip bones. Its generally the smallest part around and on the side where you can bend and flex. Its exactly the same in sewing.
Just popping in to say "Hi" 👋 and I hope all is well with you and your family. Blessings Always 🙏💞💐
