Just trying to get home- the last 100 miles
The last 100 mikes working our way back to southeastern Massachusetts has been difficult. After a rough crossing of the Gulfstream, we found ourselves becalmed with no wind. We drifted for 12 hours finally finding wind a few hours before sunset. By nightfall, we set our course for home which unfortunately was dead downwind, the slowest and least stable point of sail.

Thanks to STARLINK, these clips were taken this morning. We are currently 300 miles Southeast of Cape Cod. Big waves and current are pushing the boat along at over 10 knots! It’s a little uncomfortable to move around, but for this intrepid crew, we live for this!

Ceilidh, a J121, competed in there 2024 edition of the Figawi Race Weekend. Conditions were light and on the nose which were challenging for a boat that likes breeze. The crew was happy, captain good and overall this was a great race!

Well done! Great that the weather wasn’t too bad and the full moon sure helped!
Owner/Skipper of SV Ceilidh here. It took two well trained crews to pull this off. Only takes one screw up for things to go bad quickly. Was interesting to continue racing 350 more miles with 16 people on my 40' boat! Don't want to do that again anytime soon. But we ended up 3rd in our 13 boat class. Not too shabby.

What caused the vessel to sink ? 🦘🇭🇲👍
Struck an object with their rudder. This caused a hole in the boat that the pmups could not keep up with.
I have travelled off shore east coast Australia , and have seen a sea container just a foot showing bobbing in water. I us3d it as a FAD , trolling around , best day fish ev3r . Never like to hit one.
I appreciate that everyone on the rescue vessel was wearing appropriate gear. I couldn't see if the aft crew was clipped in, but I am guessing they were. Excellent job on the rescue.
Everyone was clipped in either double tethers.
