As someone who has deep interest in History, it pains me that Christians themselves acknowledge the utterly superficial term coined for King Baldwin - "the Leper'. He was a great king and a greater human being who knew how meaningless it was to wage wars. A great man who knew how to showcase power & threat but more importantly knew how to keep it in check despite loose canons like Reynald & Guy and Salahdin aiming for blood. No - he deserves to be remembered as King Baldwin the Great !

I love the small details of this movie. Like how Baldwin's shield bearers in the front ranks all have dents in their shields. It signifies to me that they're all experienced fighters who have been through battle before and have faith in the capability of their equipment.

The crusades were a response to an ever growing threat. Ridley scott seemed to not grasp that.
