My guess, this video must have been shot from the hill outside of Chicane? Maybe that's Cappy's Corner where you see the cars doing a sharp right and then up and onto the Oval? That's Bob Tullius in the famous Group 44 Dodge Dart. Tullius raced almost everything made by British Leyland, including his beautiful Jag XJR-5. He had shops in Falls Church and Herndon. Many famous drivers raced at Marlboro -- Penske, Jackie Steward (Cortina), Adamowicz, Don Yenko, David Hobbs. Somewhere on the internet there is a photo of Air Force General Curtis LeMay presenting a winners trophy to Roger Penske. LeMay was a huge amateur race car nut. Did you know LeMay was instrumental in creating sports car race tracks all over the country after WWII? It was his idea to convert (no longer used) military airfields into race tracks (like Sebring). And that LeMay was the basis for the character Jack D. Ripper, in the movie Dr. Strangelove?

I will never forget those days, Jimmie won Martinsville to horrible news, then he won Atlanta with them all on the hood, and won Martinsville when they went back, that is story book just like when Dale Jr won Daytona in July after his daddy died in the 500. NASCAR has had some special moments. It's part of my life I couldn't imagine a life without NASCAR.

I really wish someone had the full 'Discover Card Countdown to Green' pre-race show for this race. If there is someone that can, but is concerned about copyright issues with the NEXTEL Tribute to America festivities, it's not the end of the world. That part doesn't have to be uploaded, but I would love to see at least the full pre-race show.
