Id like to follow your journey Brooke. I had a lung adenocarcinoma removed on 1/19/24, it was a small nodule but they removed my whole lower right lobe. Biopsy results show Metastatic Carcinoma on 3 samples of my lymph nodes which had been near the adenocarcinoma. I am going to a great Clinic but not sure what to expect, what any of it will be like for me. The words they're using are Chemotherapy Radiation Immunology Genetic testing Brain scan(to make sure it hasnt spread to brain.). Im curious about clinical trials. The surgeon who did my lobectomy was so sad in my appointment yesterday and kept telling me Im going to make it through this. I swear tears almost came to his eyes. I myself cant seem to face reality yet. So I havent cried yet. My next appt should be super soon with oncologist specialist to find out about tests and all that will be involved, treatments etc. Im 64 years old, had been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis couple years ago but my health has gone downhill since last August. They discovered the lung nodule in October, It was confirmed cancer in November. I saw lung cancer oncologist in December, they removed the small stage one adenoma with bottom third of right lung just to make sure they left no bad cells then took TONS of specimens to biopsy. So that's where I am right now. It traveled from right lower lung to lymph nodes and its stage 3 Metastatic Carcinoma. I will find out more in a week or 2 about treatments etc when I see specialist. At what point did reality set in for you? I still cant wrap my mind around things yet. My dad had lung cancer. It spread to his brain and perhaps elsewhere when he died age 55 of brain cancer. I know I may feel more hopeless when things feel more real. I may lose my hair. They say that even with chemo, radiation and all the rest it could always come back, spread anywhere. Blood, bones, brain, lymphatic system, major organs. I cant believe this is happening. Whats worse is I have no friends or family. I can no longer drive or work, I have no boyfriend, husband or kids for any kind of support so I'll be going thru this alone. I had this same thing, Total thyroidectomy, right radical neck dissection, and central neck dissection last year. I was 16, and it was a horrible surgery definitely worse than they prepare you for, but I’m okay now. Glad to see you sharing a story for people to relate to!

I have metastic papillary thyroid cancer. I had surgery to take out cancer. They took out thyroid parathyroid and 96 lymph nodes. I underwent iodine radiation a year ago and it has shrunk the cancer. A week after i took radiation i did the full body scan and found out it spread to my lungs. A year after treatments they have stabilized the cancer and have done testing to be ready with the next treatment plan when it decides to grow again. I completely understand what u are going through. You've got this and the best medicine trully is attacking it with a positive outlook

OK, I had full thyroidectomy for metastatic papillary thyroid cancer 10 days ago. No pain and did not need paracetamol let alone morphine. About 100 lymph nodes gone from centre and right side. I’m on 200ug levothyroxine for my 109kg. My T4 is up at 20 and TSH down to 2.3 but too soon to start messing with doses. Actually feel more energetic and less fatigued than previously. I was on the block for 8 hours and I half expected cheeses sandwich crumbs in my wound! All in all, excellent team of surgeons. I’m in Edinburgh so everything free of charge. Next I have a full spine MRI before Iodide 131 treatment - the silver bullet. Maybe I’m just lucky but I’m hugely grateful to the NHS and my family. I am 69 years old 😄. Will be speaking with an endich endichrinoligist about free T3, reverse T3 and Zn and Se supplements. In short, absolutely nothing to worry about.
