Top 5 Essential Sony A6700 Accessories Every Photographer Needs!
This video randomly popped up on my Home Screen. Great video! I think your videos could pop off with some refinements to your thumbnails. Good luck man 👍🏻
Hey thanks! You’re right that could be the problem. I’ll switch it up and see what happens!
just bought an a7riii used with 37k clicks for 1k. I upgraded from the a6400 so its my first full frame camera that im pairing with the 24-70 sigma ii. My a6400 had 10k clicks and i feel like i used it alot but i figured since the a7riii is rated for 500k its not that big of a difference
Nice upgrade! The 24-70 is a great lens to start with. I have the first version though. I wonder how much better it is.
This is such a high quality vid for a small creator! totally worth a sub, us small youtubers need to stick together!
Hey! Wow thanks! I’ll definitely check out your content as well! 💪🏽
Social media manager forced to be content creator here, but I currently use an a6100 and i recently broke it, but I'm looking to upgrade, but from all the cameras that you do have considering im doing more casual content do you have a recommendation? i would say it sounds like the a6700 could fit my needs, but now im like should i try get the fx-30 but it seems like its way to professional for what i need to do lol
Hey! Sorry to hear you didn’t have a choice in the matter! But I am sure you will do great! If you already have apsc lenses for your a6100, the a6700 is honestly an amazing camera. The fx30 is video focused and doesn’t have a view finder. But you can still take photos with it if you need to. For your needs I think the a6700 is good. They both also have the same sensor. The a6700 just doesn’t fit into my flow anymore so that’s why I’m going to sell it in the next week or two. Let me know what you end up getting!
Creative block is normal! I get it all the time. It’s just part of the process. Keep smashing. 2025 is gonna be good ✨
Thanks man!
It’s sad because this camera is amazing
Don’t even have to watch the whole video but I’m already knowing it’s because of the overheating issues
Ahhh but is that the reason? Hmmm.. lol. Got to watch to find out!
Thanks ManI recently brought a A6700 for my very first camera but I wanted a FX30 but I thought it wouldn’t be good for beginners. What your thoughts?
I think it depends on how you intend to use it. The a6700 is a hybrid camera with powerful photo and video specs. The fx30 is geared towards video. If you plan to grow I think the fx30 isn’t too much to handle at all. Especially if you take your time to play around with it and check out RUclips videos.
What about the Sony ZV E10 mark ii. I am torn between that and the a6700. I am upgrading from a Lumix g7, I’ve been using it for 6 years now. I got the new dji mic 2 setup and i want to switch to sony because of the hotshoe adapter.
You will want to go with the a6700. Although the sensors are the same the cameras are really built for two different use cases. The a6700 is a more balanced camera. It has a viewfinder and is weather sealed as well. Even though the zve10 is cheaper, I’d go with the a6700. You’ll get more out of it, especially if you do photo and video.
@@Lee_Squire Thank you for your input, I think I will forsure get the a6700. It seems super worth it especially for a few hundred dollars more! Love your content!
@@MattHakimi I bought zve10 ii and after 10 days returned it and bought a6700 body only and sigma 18-50 f2.8. it is a night and day.
@@matejpetras2016 Thanks for the input! I purchased the ZV e10 ii and its coming in today. I figured I would get it to see if it will fulfill my needs and if not I will return it and get the a6700. But I have seen that a lot, where people get the zv e10ii and then switch to the a6700. I will let you know what happens when i try it out👍
My A7RIII (A model) was ordered and it never made it to my doorstep😢
Where did you order it from!? That’s terrible!
@Lee_Squire It was given to the church. Now i need to raise funds to buy another one and the A7IV
Subscribed 🫡
Thank you sir! I actually watch quite a bit of your videos as well! Good content!
Zve10 sucks. Bad colours made me wanna go for the a6700.for me it will be an upgrade when i get it
Aw man! I haven’t used the zve10, I’m sorry to hear that!
I will buy.please send me on blue dart.from india.
Haha. I would, but I’m going to sell it locally.
@Lee_Squire Ok.👍
Thanks for this video. By far the best APS-C available today. Fuji is good with nice colors but good luch trying to acquire focus.
Ive always wanted to try Fuji out! But Sony does have amazing autofocus!
I'm just getting into photography and learning about equipment. Thank you for your great explanations!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
I used to have an old fuji x-t1 and I found that I really like the 35mm or 23mm focal length. I'm looking to get back into hybrid shooting and I am torn. I can get the 6700 and a sigma 23mm 1.4 for like $1500ish on eBay or should I save more and get an a7iv with a Sony 35mm 1.8 for about $2000....Which do you think I should go for? I plan on taking photos & videos whenever I'm not working...Portraits, Events, travel, street, skateboarding and potential documentary or talking head stuff. Paid work eventually would be nice but I don't know if that's even something I should think about right now.
Hey! That’s a great question! Think it really comes down to cost. They both are great hybrid cameras. If you can save a bit more and don’t mind paying for more expensive full frame lenses, go with the a7iv. If you are aren’t sure where this will all take you and you want to reserve some cash, the 6700 is still an excellent choice. But long term if you’re going to move to full frame, you’ll have to buy new lenses because while you use the apsc lenses on your full frame camera, you won’t want to because of the reduced quality. So that’s what you have to decide really. Glass is what ultimately matters so if you’re going to be shooting for years to come, just go full frame.
@ Thank you
Love the video Lee! Just sent you an email actually :D
Hey, awesome! I'll check my inbox!
thank you. straight and helpful. Sounds like the same script from last year..lol
When it’s not broken…lol.
What piece of gear you looking forward to using the most in 2025?! Leave a comment below!
A6700 has been my favorite APS-C camer ever. But now that i got the A7Cr it kind of makes it obsolete. The grip on the 6700 is so good though.
I totally get that, yeah I love the trip too!
New to the game I just got an a74 i look forward to learning from you and possibly working together in the future
4:00 Slog2 in 8bit isn’t meant to be color graded. It’s meant to capture the widest amount of DR and then directly transformed to a display gamma in post. It’s already processed by the image processor in the camera using the parameters set in the PP settings. Same goes for the slog3 Slog3 just gives you the latitude to do some adjustment because of those extra 2bits and a more robust codec, which might help you with the post coloring but still has one glaring issue like the slog2. It’s all internally debayered and processed footage. So for best results for color grading shoot slog3 when you know you’re going to adjust things in post and slog2 for a super quick high dynamic range delivery.
Hey thanks a lot for this, I’m still learning. So I’ll take whatever info I can get!
I kinda did the same thing - I bought an a7RV and an a6700, and soon wondered why I have both? I can go into crop mode and basically have both on my a7RV, so I sold the a6700. Now, I don’t do much video, rarely any, but it’s nice to know it’s there if I need it!
Totally understand! The a7RV is such a beast and having that crop mode is a good point as well. Definitely simplifies things not doing video.
9:09 I was confused why you want to sell it, but after hearing one one Sd card slot I completely get it. I got my A7IV used from a dealer in mint condition for price of a new A6700. But I agree, the time to sell it is now. But I saw the A6700 has Ai chip, so apparently better autofocus than A7IV, but I don't really have issues with focus on my A7IV, not sure where it actually makes a difference. Same with A7R V it too has an AI chip. So apparently it's gonna track people better, no matter how they move around and turn away and are front to back. But my A7IV actually kind of does that anyway, so not sure what the real difference is. Maybe it's more precise. But for my scenarios I don't need it.
Yeah good point. I like the AI chip as well but I also haven’t used that feature really. I know it can track you and zoom in a bit digitally while you are in the frame etc which is cool. The A7rV would be amazing as well but maybe one day haha.
@@Lee_Squire I see the A7iv does better in low light than the A7rV atleast some reviews claim that. So a7iv isn't a bad choice.
10:38 Power Settings Option>Auto Power Off Temp> switch form Standard to High>select High Now you can record as long as you want without it shutting off. I have an A7IV, i did this, no issues recording for a long time. But without doing changing this setting there will be issues. But if one wants to keep the camera cooler, one can use an external battery. I forgot what they are called, but there's a fake battery inserted, that just connects the massive external battery via a cable. People using that have a camera cage, all is mounted to it. I've not tried that. but it's an option.
Hey thanks for the write up! Some of the folks I’ve heard complain about overheating have that setting on. Good catch tho, thanks for pointing it out. The dummy battery or v-mount battery powered via usbc could be good way too as you mentioned. All in all, I think I’ll be fine. Some folks never have issues and others have, it’s probably just chance.
@Lee_Squire So far all long recording I've done was indoors, in room temp. Or outside for short clips. But I've not tried to record for hours in direct sunlight or inside a hot car.
Try out this: Nikon z6-3 prores raw, sound devices , shoeps mic. And, good monitor headphones.

as a fellow A7iv shooter, I have to say that Sony majorly screwed up making it as good as it is lol sure, it might not have the AI like the newer models, but imo the AF is still some of the best in the business. I use mine for my channel, professional shoots, weddings, NEVER had missed focus. hope it treats you well!
Hey Terry! Thanks for sharing that. I was blown away with Sony's AF system when I switched from a Canon DSLR several years ago. It's great to hear that it's still an awesome camera for you. I look forward to using it on my next session!
Coming from an a6400 I might upgrade to one of these one day. 4 main reasons why, the IBIS, the bigger battery, the upgraded autofocus and lastly that flip out screen, it would be so useful for low shots in portrait. Most of the time I can’t see my a6400 screen doing those 😂
Dude, I would definitely do it. It’s such a great camera.
I m watching this video with a broken a7c😢
Dang! Sorry to hear that! Do you think you could get it serviced? What happened?! Gear is so expensive so I really feel for you.
@Lee_Squire my 2 years old daughter dropped it, resulting in broken hinge and broken viewfinder glass, hinge could be replaced in about 50$ in India but to replace viewfinder's glass, the whole assembly need to be replaced and the service centre quoted about 150$.
And me without any camera😂
Ah crap man! I’m sorry to hear that I’m sure you were heartbroken. Our cameras are our babies in a way. 🙏🏽hoping you get booked for some gigs to make up for the expense!
Hey bro, no shame in that. Use your phone for now or upgrade to the next best option when you can.
for professional video work, then the FX3 makes total sense :) It's a fantastic camera and you'll unlock all them nice FF lenses :) (or like you can use emount on apsc, but you know, what I mean haha). What's sick about the a6700 tho is that it's the same sensor as the FX30, so the quality is quite insane (considering size and price). But I'm 100% with you you'll love the fx3 man :)
For sure! I have loads of FF lenses as well so I'm excited about that too. And you're right, the same sensor etc is amazing! Sad to sell it but, I've got to!
For a webcam, the FX30 is going to be better because it has a fan. For me, my A6700 is for green screen, and I need the AI chip for when I walk off screen. The A6700 is fine for video because 10-bit SLog3 is just fine for green screen as there is no bright sky. I have both. You don't need dual card slot, you need to buy a dedicated Android phone for to use with Sony Monitor and Control all and throw a 1TB V30 Micro SD card in it to auto-backup to and you're good to go.
Hey Cale, thanks for the comment! That's a unique approach to having a backup! That's awesome. Is that your approach for videos you create here on YT or other platforms?
Where did you find the A7iv?
On Amazon. It was the only time I saw the price go that low. It hasn’t since. And it was brand new, shipped and sold by Amazon. Nuts!
I would setup the a6700 in a corner somewhere taking time lapse photos during the wedding to get some candid shots. Maybe one shot every minute. You could pick the best from them and include as a bonus. Otherwise it is not a camera for "Pro" work and while I love the a6700 for what I do it was never going to replace a FX-30 which is only a few hundred dollars more on sale.
Totally agree with that sentiment. I wouldn’t feel right trying to rely on it in a professional setting. Timelapse idea sounds fun. Never thought about something like that. I love my fx30 so far though. Definitely a beast. Thanks for the comment! If I had to go back in time, I would have for the fx30 first. And would have ended up with two fx30s with my recording dilemma or the fx3 and one fx30. But hey it’s all good!
Phenomenal content... just subscribed... thank you
Thanks so much! Happy to have you here!
Hi friend, do you have any battery issues with A6700? I using my A6700 with original Sony battery and with a KingMa and both drained just for am hour of video shooting (I shooting mainly short videos for social media, so It's like a 2-3 minutes of shooting, then pause), so for an hour of that kind of work battery lost around 40-50%. Is it ok or not? (4k 30fps 4:2:2)
I haven’t had anything noticeable stand out to me about the battery performance for video. Do you have the monitor on even when not recording? I remember setting my camera so that it goes to sleep if not in operation after a minute. Try that, that should help.
Canon R8 or this reply me
R8 is full frame. If you plan to grow your full frame lens collection I’d go ahead and dive in. A6700 is a beast but lens will be cheaper for aps-c and also more third party lens options. If you do low light shooting r8 is probably going to perform better. Depends on your use case and future plans.
@Lee_Squire i want vloging and cinematic shots for traveling . Suggest better lens cheaper
Sony a6700 will be more affordable lens wise. So if cost is a factor I’d go with that.
@@Lee_Squire suggest lens for a6700
Sigma 16 mm f1.4
what a cool video! im still hesitating with the A7SIII tho, even if i'm mostly going to use video mode...
Hey thanks man! The a7sIII is also really amazing. Same sensor as the fx3 and full frame of course. What’s making you hesitant? Don’t want to fully let go of photo?
Does the Sony FX30 work for your needs? Let’s chat about it!
I subscribed, you do too, Colleague. Still expensive in Vietnam FX30
@ thanks!! Yes it’s definitely still not cheap.
Okay, you. just blew my mind. I have 1 high quality card and one normal card and I was so surprised that the writing was slow. But your explanation makes so much sense.
Yeah it is an unfortunate truth but now that you know, you can try to combat it with a couple higher quality cards. Just know that one day when you move to a newer body that’s when you’ll get more benefit.
I got mine in 2024 because for me it was really important for me to buy something capable but I didn't want to break the bank because I'm still learning. I love this camera.
Same here! The quality is just so good.
Thanks so much for this video- It's really helpful and the quality of your videos is amazing! Really interested in the first mic but less keen to have something in shot- is it just too quiet if you put it a bit further down/higher up with a boom arm? Or does it make the sound quality worse? Thanks!
A mic like the Rode Podmic is a dynamic microphone. It's made to be close to your mouth. If you have it further away it will sound terrible lol. If you really want to have a mic outside of the shot on a boom arm. The Deity S Mic 2 is great. But you can also buy some cheaper options that people often put on top of the camera. Like the Rode Video Mic GO II if you want something less expensive or the Rode NTG. If you go with either of those you will have to find a way to boom it and probably buy an extra long chord to run it to your camera. But it's doable and works well. Mics like that, you want to be as close to your chest/mouth but out of the frame.
Just bought this, thanks for the video
You’re gonna love it!
What do you guys think? Is the Sony A6700 a great fit for you? If so, what will you be using it for mostly? Photo, video? Both?
I shoot Fuji (XT5 and X100V) and I shoot portraits and headshots for a living. My XT5 has all kinds of autofocus issues. I made the “mistake” of trying the A6700 at my local camera store the other day and I was so blown away that I’m gonna sell my XT5 and lenses and get the A6700 and the Sigma trio. It’s just insane. Gonna keep my X100, but I’m going to Sony. And I tried Nikon, Canon, even the A7IV. All too heavy and expensive. I’m 53, and my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be and my back can’t stand carrying heavy rigs. I value speed, light weight, affordability, sharpness and autofocus reliability. For the work I do (portraits, headshots, some run and gun family shoots, and RUclips videos, APS-C is perfect). The A6700 is the one for me. Can’t wait.
Hey! Wow that is so great to hear! It's hard to not love this camera honestly. You made a great point about weight, affordability and quality. I never thought of it that way but you're totally right. The lenses are WAY lighter than full frame. I just got home from a wedding and I can FEEL those full frame lenses haha. Probably more so in the morning lol.

What do you mean by the Sigma trio?
Yup. I got rid of my XS20 after my first shoot. Sad because you always lose money when selling off the body, but getting about 10% missed shots in broad daylight with no distracting elements in frame was totally unacceptable. I also got the a6700 and I'm in love with it.
Hey bro great videos! I just got the Sony a7R lll upgraded from the sony a6000 but i can’t decide which lens to get. Can you recommend 2 please one with zoom the other without…. I’m a beginner trying to get better pictures. Thank you…
Hey! Thanks! I'm glad I was able to help. I would recommend the Sigma Art 24-70 f/2.8 as a great all around lens. And for a prime lens, I really love the Sigma 35mm f1.4. It's a beautiful lens and the focal length is great! If you want something a little cheaper but also a great focal length for portraits, I would recommend the Sony 85 f/1.8. It's a great lens and will take you just beyond the 70mm focal length the zoom would limit you to.
@@Lee_Squire Thanks I’ll check those, i just got the Sony - G Master FE 24-70 mm F2.8 GM Full-Frame. Loved the reviews of this lens, so let’s see how it goes 😄 thanks again you do a great Job with the videos
@@kelvinrh123456789 No problem! That's a great lens! The 50mm f1.4 GM is also really nice. There is a 1.2 version but I love the weight of the 1.4.
just bought the a7riiiA, a real bargain for such a good camera. had a a7ii before and MEGAPIXELS MATTER! there is much more detail even if i only watch on a normal computer screen.
This is awesome to hear! It’s such a great camera! You’re going to have fun with it.
I just got it and it was a game changer for me.
Bro I’m so excited to use it in my upcoming videos/projects.
If I tape the mic to my chest under my shirt, will it pick up audio with the same quality?
I haven’t tried this. But I would imagine with some gaft tape it would sound ok. Hopefully the tape would help cut down on the rustling.
what camera are you using for RUclips
Typically I use the Sony FX30.
