Well I Wonder - The Smiths Guitar/Bass Cover
This song is a lot of fun to play and has 2 great bass parts in addition to all the fantastic stuff Johnny Marr came up with on guitar. I really like the arpeggios during the outro.
All audio tracks were done in GarageBand (iPad version) with an Apogee Jam interface. The rhythm guitar part was done with an Eastwood Classic 12, an Epiphone Dot, and a Seagull acoustic. The single note stuff and the outro were done on a Tele. There are 2 bass parts here, a higher part and a lower part. I tried to show a little bit of each. The 12 string guitar went through a simulated Vox AC30 with compression. The Tele and the Dot both went through a simulated Vox AC30 with compression and chorus. The Ricke...

The guitar is an Eastwood Classic 12 played through a janglebox compressor and the AC15TB setting on a Vox VT15 modeling amp. I love this guitar. It's very easy and fun to play.

Guitar/Bass cover of this great R.E.M. song from Document. Both parts recorded into a GNX4 multi-effects pedal/recorder. The guitar part has some chorus, compression, and VOX AC30 amp modeling, all done on the GNX4. I added a bit of distortion (SparkleDrive modeling) during the solo. No effects on the bass, just some amp modeling. Midi drums through the GNX4.

Great interplay between Johnny Marr's guitar and Andy Rourke's bass on this song. Technical stuff: Open D Tuning (DADF#AD) with a capo on the 2nd fret. Guitar and Bass parts recorded through a GNX4 multi effects pedal. Drum programming through the GNX4. Used chorus effect for the guitar and P-Bass patch for the bass.

This is a great bassline from Andy Rourke that probably doesn't get noticed as much as it should. Cool intro, some Jamerson-esque sixteenth notes, and he even threw in some chords.

Being able to play this the way you do is amazing, well done! Being able to compose this is sort of unexplainable to me. I do not believe there is a god but, listening to Johnny Marr’s guitar melodies, or J.S. Bach for that matter, makes you wonder whether some people are touched by him/her or else, how do you explain it?

I used to drive a taxi. There was a guy I picked up on the reg that loved to freestyle rap on beats he had on RUclips. His voice sounded good but his lyrics were shit. One night, I challenged him. I played this video and told him to rap about something sad. He listened thru a few times then he said he had something. And that night, he had us both in tears.

I just wanted to send out a thank you to all the folks that have left such nice comments over the years. I did this video 7 years ago and even though I haven't uploaded anything since then I still read the new comments. It makes me smile that people are still watching this video and enjoying it.

Did Andy Rourke use a rickenbacker 4003? And great playing mate
I don't believe he ever played Rick basses. There are a lot of websites that break down his gear, but I think the tone most associated with him, that really punchy sound, was made by Fender Precision basses. I think he also played Yamaha basses. I bought my Rick because of Geddy Lee and Chris Squire.
