Lockdown Covers: Pur Ti Miro (Monteverdi)
The closing duet from Monteverdi's final opera, first performed in 1643, L'Incoronazione di Poppea, slightly modified.
The characters singing are the Emperor Nero and Poppea, his lover. This is the happy ending of the opera, although historically their relationship didn't turn out quite so harmoniously.
Among other instruments, this recording features the Viscount Intercontinental Synth Dakota from 1977. I've had this from new, but I recently brought it back to playable condition by re-capping some of the circuit boards.

Merry Christmas 2020! Here's a cheery song from a happier age - it's our version of My Christmas Card To You, originally released by David Cassidy and the Partridge Family in 1971. May all your days be happy, with a joy that never ends!

An unsuccessful Eurovision entry for 2016. Great work from Laura O'Connell (performing), Halo Jones (Video direction) and Donna Marie (Make up artist). Not such great work from me (Songwriting and music production), still there's always next year!

A proof-of-concept piece from 2013. The Danse du Grand Calumet de la Paix, from Jean-Philippe Rameau's ballet heroique Les Indes Galantes (1735) arranged for 11 synthesizers, played live by a group which may be called the London Academy of Synthesis or may not if I think of something better. For those who may be interested, the instruments used were: 1st Violins - Roland JX-10 (Oscar Ridout) 2n...
Paul Menel-era IQ, live in Germany c.1988
Просмотров 24 тыс.9 лет назад
I found this VHS tape in my loft today. It's labelled IQ- Live in Germany, typed on a Phonogram generic sticker. From the content it's a festival taking place somewhere between the release of Nomzamo (1987) and Are You Sitting Comfortably (1989). Éric B. Salesse knew the following details - Thanks! Saturday July 16th, 1988 "Out In The Green" 1988 - Verein für Ballsport Waldstadion, Gießen, Germ...

Mandog ep 1 The Man Who Walked Through Doors

Episode 1 of the BBC children's serial Mandog, first broadcast Jan 3rd 1972. Transferred from a VHS made for me nearly 20 years ago by a friend of a friend who worked in the BBC Film & TV library. I'm posting it in the hope that someone will find the rest (hopefully in better quality!) and post those too.

This version is crazy good! 👍
This was when I first saw IQ, and I’ve been a fan ever since. So to me, this is the best IQ line up. What a fantastic time for prog fans. Thanks for sharing. ❤
wonderful!!!
Classic remember watching it when it was first broadcast in 1972 just a shame its not available on dvd. Mollie sugden was in it along with Derek Martin from East enders Charlie slater. Derek played one of the bad guys gala one.I will always remember the last episode the chap who played ian was sue cooks husband the BBC crime watch presenter. Its my all time favourite childhood television drama series along with john pertwees spearhead from space and the green death doctor who stories. Great days early 1970s. 21:13
I'm actually in the process of getting all 6 episodes!
@@dazauto1400 Any luck yet? Would really like to see all of this again.
Excellent vocals!
Just wonderful, I was lucky to meet Paul Menel a few years ago at the Peel, great singer.
Great footage...thx a lot for this!!!
I'm not so familiar with this era of the band; I'm currently soaking it up and enjoying it. I came to IQ very late for some reason, late 90's. I had been listening to Marillion, Pallas and the classic 70's prog bands from around 1983, but shamefully skipped IQ! I've seen them live 3 times since 2001 and they are always magnificent. The Menel era is sounding closer to Gabriel's solo work than that of Genesis IMO.
Amazing. Deserves a million views.
No way! That's a rarity... and after IQ, P.L. Menel practically disappeared from the music scene, right? That's a shame because he was really good.
Saw IQ the first time in June 1985 with Peter Nicholls in Glasgow. Then two times in 1987 with Paul Menel in Düsseldorf and Bochun and then the fabulous comeback of Peter Nicholls with the album Ever in Kleve, Germany. His comeback in IQ started with a guest appearance in Paris 1990. So between the leaving of Paul Menel and the comeback of Peter Nicholls was only one year.
Hi, have the you got the consignment episode about the coach?
I literally cry every time that melodic outro to Gateway kicks in. One of the best prog epics of all time. Definitely in my top 5 sidelong epics. That medley is PERFECTION
Gracias❤gracias ❤gracias por este empeórame registro 🎉❤ gracias
Wonderful, thank you!
The remaining five episodes?
Never thought anyone would "la la la" Tony Banks' synth outro ... and it worked beautifully.
"Slighly modified" lol. This is awesome.
This is wonderful.
Paul menel. The best. Great iq
Love it. Thanks for posting.
When I saw this series at the age of 11 I was absolutely captivated. A brilliant bit of pure Sci-fi! Thank you for posting this first episode; it made my hairs stand up on the back of my neck!
I'm so pleased someone has uploaded this programme from my past. I was eight when this was broadcast and I remember it reasonably well. I seem to remember when the police from the future come back to our time, they drove around in a dark green Triumph Dolomite and they wore dark green shirts. Imagine that, that you are a time traveller and the first thing you do when arriving at the designated time you pop into the nearest British Leyland garage and order a medium-sized four-door saloon car that matches your shirt colour? Also when the girls are caught by the Gala, they are, sort of hypnotized by them by saying "you are a good girl, Gala girl". This made my brother and I laugh because we would taunt my older sister with this phrase (for fun!)right up to recent years. Some of my memories might be a bit muddled, it was 50 years ago and every friend I would mention this to was completely blank about it, maybe they had been got at by the Gala? Anyway, thankyou so much for the up load, it's been great to watch it again
0:01 No Love Lost 5:15 Nomzamo 12:37 Sold On You 17:50 Nothing At All 22:08 Human Nature 31:30 The Wake / Headlong / The Last Human Gateway
My favourite IQ line-up, playing songs from my favourite IQ album. Paul Menel was a unique front man with a great voice and sense of humour.
Paul Menel singing The Wake is so much better than Pete. Wow.
Good job 👍
Hope to see PL's new band The Essentials at Darlington Forum on April 5th 2022. My band used to cover Common Ground, and Tim got the position Kev offered me in Prognosys. I saw him play with them at the Quakerhouse, Darlington. Nice lad; he's bald now - unlike me!

Not enough covers of AB’89, so well done
Wonderful stuff , love the Paul Menel albums personally much as I like Peter , this is a fantastic find , thank you for posting.
Didn't the actress who played Kate die young. I wonder how it happened
Cancer aged 31 in 1979.
At last! I didn’t imagine this Tv series! Love to see the other episodes!
PM live singing is excellent! Great band!
Nothing against Hutchings, but I like your version... better! Especially @2:36 - 3:00!
So glad I found your channel! Smiles guaranteed!
Cool house, too!
TOTALLY AWESOME!!! "Heathaze" is another Genesis gem that I could hear you covering!
Looks like the worst setting for enjoying this band. The best was yet to come!
I love it! What an amazing cover of a personal favorite of mine.
I met IQ with Nien in a pond is here ... then I met them with Peter Nichols on vocals .... well they are two incredible voices .... Paul with a scary extension ..... Peter with a fantastic interpretative and melodic ability .... I admit that it is difficult to assert which of the two is the best ..... there is no doubt that in the album Nine in a Pond is here the songs previously sung by Peter Nichols, with the voice of Paul Menel ....
The Menel era is not my favorite in IQ history. Nomzamo has a couple of great songs but Are you sitting...is boring, besides the magnificent Nostalgia and Falling apart... Although Peter’s live performance sometimes need a autotune, Pauls live singing is terrible. But very nice to see this period of IQ.
No ! How could you suggest something like that ! Autotune is for talentless pop stars who can’t sing.
I will never hear the original song the same way again. This is a wonderful rendition.
This is amazing.
Beautiful vocalizations. I'm a little concerned that you just happen to have these costumes lying about the house...
Good old days
...and just when I think you've lost your sense of humor, you show a load of wash, on the permanent press setting no doubt. I'm waltzing about the kitchen. Lovely tune guys. Can't wait to hear what's next.
Gorgeous ! You play a mean skillet my friend !
Oh my goodness. I remember this TV series. I was 7 years old and for some reason I found it quite scary. There was another series called The Chinese Puzzle which I loved and another called A Horse in the House and also The Long Chase but they are impossible to find.
Human nature its brilliant. One of my favs. And Paul was amazing too.
Absolutely love this
