Interesting premise & great vid, but I do think the "no power hits" rule runs contrary to Moneyball principles. Billy Beane couldn't afford Jason Giambi, sure, but he had homegrown 30-HR guys in Tejada & Chavez, and flipped some prospects for Jermaine Dye, who hit 24. The old-school crowd talked about playing small ball and "manufacturing runs", but getting guys on base, clearing them with homers, and producing big innings was the Bill James approach. Of course the game is ridiculously easy even with a mediocre roster, so I can definitely understand implementing house rules to make things a bit more interesting 😁
