We're just three guys from central PA with a passion for fly fishing and the outdoors.
Solo Filming Fly Fishing vs Fishing with Friends | Native Brook Trout and Wild Brown Trout
It's hard for us to always get out together to film, so a lot of time I’m out solo filming, and it can be rough. So when I can get out and film with Joel, it's usually a lot more fun.
Hope you enjoy and

Have you guys been out lately? What’s the water temp like?
Was out a couple weeks ago and on that particular stream it was 63 degrees. But it was super low. Gonna let the trout be until we get some rain
@@alleghenynative thanks! My part of town is more agricultural and the streams have been toasty for a while and was just a little worried about it…thanks for the great videos
you NEED to hold your pole and pole tip up HIGH,HIGH,HIGH get in the habit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Thanks for sharing this video of fly fishing in the beautiful fall woods. Love it!
Thanks for watching
Absolutely beautiful, brother.
Thank you
Small stream brookies are a spiritual experience. I lived in NW Mt in my mid 20s, did a lot of this kind of fishing. Since then have fished coast to coast, have some memorable experiences but the simplicity of this can't be beat 😁😁👍👍
Couldn’t agree more. Thanks for watching
I absolutely love this river. The sound of the train horn and the squeal of the brakes cutting through the morning fog gives me chills
It is definitely a special place. Thanks for watching
Let's be honest. This is just us getting away with spinfishing, lol
😂😂😂
Beautiful!
Thank you
Is there a link? Thanks

Love this! I grew up in a small town in potter co….cant wait to retire and move back. Excellent film and story.
Thanks for watching and we hope to retire up there someday as well haha
Haha, maybe we’ll share a stream somewhere up there one day soon…
I've been fishing ANF since I was 10, I'm 45 now. Just started Quehanna/Moshannon area about 10 yrs ago. I've recently introduced my daughters boyfriend into it. I give him a new spot and which species are in it. He goes alone. And when he tells me about it, its like a time machine to myself. Something about these little fish and where they live does something to a few people that they can't shake or explain. Seeing it happen to someone else from the beginning is one of the most satisfying things I've done.
Love to hear this my friend and thanks for watching
I have been following you guys for a little while now. You produce some of the best content for fly fishing. My sister recently moved to Montana (I totally understand why) and had the blessing of visiting her and her boyfriend. We floated the Bitterroot and it was amazing. That being said, I totally get the draw to get back home and share another experience with your buddies. I just thank you for sharing these journeys with us. As others have said, you deserve a big contract for the level content you produce. I will watch everything you produce; and perhaps someday I will be blessed with the opportunity to share water with you guys.
Thank you so much for the kind words and watching my friend! Let’s hope that we can someday meet on the stream
You put out some of the best edits as far fly fishing content goes. I always feel that I am there with you and long to get back out on the water every time I watch your videos. Please keep doing what you love and sharing it with us.
Thank you for watching and those kind words. We plan to keep making videos my friend🤘🤘🤘
Can’t beat it, loving the vids. Tight lines🎣🪶
Thanks for watching
The Little J is such a sacred place for me.
It is for us as well. Thanks for watching
What a vibe. One of my most vivid memories is fishing for some brookies off a tributary of Pine Creek with my dad and brother when I was 8 years old.
Thanks for watching
Until you try to self film yourself fly fishing, I don't think people will understand how challenging it is. Setting up the camera for a run, fish the run, move the camera, rinse, repeat. If the action is on, it makes it worthwhile! Always enjoy your videos!
Thank you my friend
What a treat. I have a few months of snowmelt and runoff before I can get to my high brookie streams. Those little wild brookies are like jewels. Good stuff fellas.
Thank you!
Great video! One of Americas best kept secrets
This is great!! Thank you Guys for all the hard work you do. you are much appreciated sharing your labor of love for the fish and the beautiful PA streams.
Thanks for the kind words and for watching. Tight Lines!
whippoorwills are the bane of my existence when camping
amazing video. question, ive been trying to film myself more but im having trouble staying motivated especially when i dropped my new sony vz-1 in the river, and then come home to corrupted gopro files. how often do you spend the time to set up a shot at a nice hole but dont catch anything? I see that alot of people take the time to set these shots up but they never show footage of not catching fish. thanks!
I have hours upon hours of footage of me not catching anything. I’ve spent entire days setting up the camera and fishing and caught nothing. Sometimes it gets to me and I don’t even want to do it anymore, then it passes and I do it all over again haha. It’s labor of love for sure
Another great video! Thanks for taking us along. Had some clever edits in this one too 👍
Thank you
Been a while since we’ve seen that stream. Was wondering how it’s doing. Been 4 or 5 years myself since I’ve fished it. Good stuff.
Thanks for watching
Beautiful stream and country, no wonder trout live there. Really enjoy watching your videos. Tight lines.
Thank you
Watching an Allegheny Native video on Memorial Day and no work…perfect! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
Self filming can be a pain. Though it always feels worth it when you get that cool angle and fish, as you often do. Great job!
Thanks for watching
Their fly box subscription is the best! Thank you!
We greatly appreciate it my friend
Nice !
Thank you
Thank You, It's true, with the impassion Joe, there's no problem without solution. Love the pace of your fishing adventures.
Thank you
This isn't a huge channel, but one day, it deserves to be. I lived in Johnstown PA, and have a love for the Allegheny Mountains. Been with these guys when they had 400 subscribers!!
Thanks for watching and appreciate the support since the start my friend
A very successful session, I’m glad I found your channel and we are looking forward to new videos.
Thanks for watching
One of your best.
Thank you
Born and raised in Clearfield County... such amazing trout streams. Fond memories of native brook trout streams with my dad, using some worms we dug up in the yard... watching now from South Carolina, where I've lived for the past 15 years.... I miss that beautiful area up there. I have a 2 hr drive to the mountains of SC/GA for the nearest trout fishing to me. Your videos are expertly done and leave a fond longing in my heart to make it back up to PA someday. Keep up the great work... Love the videos.
Thank you for the kind words, my friend and for watching. Hope you’re able to make it back up here one day and relive the memories from your childhood. Thanks again.
What a beautiful film! It just brings me back to my childhood when me and my family would go camping here in Texas. Me and dad would go off to fish and return with some channel cat. I really hope that you all use the Kodak 16mm again; it really caught the beauty of Potter County! And the friendship, I think that's the most beautiful part of the film...thank you gentlemen!
Thanks for watching and the kind words
Lol 10:18 I see I’ll shoot this fish now 😅
Hahaha. Thanks for watching
Can’t beat a Pennsylvania native Brookie !👍🏻 so pretty!! Excellent filming and editing , top notch , well done !!
Thank you
"It's called fishing, there's nothing easy about it"🙂↕️
At the 15 minute mark you guys are parked at the bottom of my cabin driveway! I've caught alot of natives over the years there
Heck yes! Love to hear it and thanks for watching
Those are state forest makers not game lands, sorry for the nitpicking. Great video as always, look forward to more.
Thanks for watching
Another great video, showing that it isn’t always fish after fish, some days are just better than others. And that’s ok! What length rods and weights do you guys usually use on those little streams?
Thanks for watching. Here we are using a 10ft 2wt. We like the extra reach when it allows to stay back so we don’t cast a shadow over the stream
A buddy and I had an off grid camp in north central PA for over 40 years. No idea how many hundreds of native brookies we caught and released. My pal passed a couple years ago and the camps been sold. Best times of my life. Sure do miss my buddy and those mountains.
That’s awesome to hear about the camp and I’m very sorry to hear about your friend. Hopefully you can still make it up there and cherish the memories. Thanks for watching
Like the man says... Pennsylvania gold ! Stunning little fish and perfectly in proportion with their habitat. If only we had them in my streams I wander in, I'm over in the UK so no brookies v v sadly! Keep up the good work and the rod bent & and btw take it easy blowing the fly powder around man, its sure not good stuff to get in your lungs. Think asbestosis, a similar deal.
Thanks for watching my friend and also thanks for the heads up. Tight Lines!
What I find is road fishing can get to much pressure, the farther off trail you go the better.great video!
Yes we agree. Thanks for watching
The fishing should start picking up here with the warmer weather on these smaller streams. There are time when I ask myself where all the fish went then others where every rock has a brookie behind it! My favorite type of fishing. Great video!
Agreed on the fishing picking up with the warmer weather. Thanks for watching!
Royal Coachman is the ticket for native brookies.
Indeed it’s a great fly. Thanks for watching
Absolutely love that area as well. It's always been my go-to for the first brookie trip of the year - endless possibilities! For tight quarters brookie fishing, y'all should really tenkara a shot - you'll never need the reel or the line :) and the rods are SO much more sensitive. Scott at Featherman Creations off 255 going towards the Moshannon is a solid spot, Scott's a good dude as well.
When I was a kid I thought fishing was for the old men who were generally boring or unassuming. As I grew older I realized that fishing is for the stoic, patient, and passionate people on this earth. As I’ve grown older still, I’ve found those traits within myself and in others that truly understand what fishing is about and I couldn’t be more thankful for the friends I’ve made along the way. Listening to your conversations reminds me so much of them; one minute we’re arguing knots and the next we compare mental notes on salt or paprika in exactly what it does to a certain dish cooked different ways. I love what fishing has given me, and the only thing I’d wish differently is that I would’ve started sooner.
Truer words have never been spoken my friend. Agree with you 100%. Thanks for watching
Nice to see Pennsylvania treasures
Thanks for watching
