@@thepracticalanimal That will be good but all is interesting, keep going. Good to see your channel growing well.
@freebirdofreason1994 thank you. It is intensive and we've been going four years, would you believe? Next week is a vet in South Africa.
@@thepracticalanimal yes not easy making video unfortunately youtube are slow to share good content.
@freebirdofreason1994 and it gets more complex as you start to create a monster!
Hawk's crops are amazing. My Harris' Hawks can consume 180g (F-1200g, M-800g body weight), but it takes them some time to put that down. It's hard to say how is put down into the stomach each time. But it can take 3-4 hours for sure to put it all down. This is a full quail and they are fed this large amount infrequently during the season and frequently during the molt.
Thank you for the comment When I worked at a commercial falcon breeding facility we fed quail daily during the breeding season. Outside the breeding season they were fed a maintenance diet of DOC.

Very enjoyable interview as usual interesting information.
Thanks, Pete, glad you liked it.
Love Dr Caldwell. See him working with Kevin Richardson aka the 'Lion Whisperer' and saw the results of the way female big cats who got ovariectomies and are not fully spayed grow the manes and get more aggressive when the remnants of the ovary change. Also, the pyometra infections they get. Kevin has enormous respect for him. As do l.
This video is incredibly eye-opening! It's alarming to learn about the drastic decline of African vultures over the past 30 years. Andre Botha's insights into the importance of vultures and the urgent need for conservation efforts are both inspiring and educational. The Practical Animal channel does a fantastic job of highlighting the critical role these birds play in our ecosystems. Definitely a must-watch for anyone passionate about wildlife conservation! Great Job Mr. Beaumont
Hi Jackson, thank you so much. I am very pleased you liked it. Well done with your publishing successes.
They are a beautiful looking creature, nice interview, very educational.
Thank you, my friend. Glad you liked it.
Marvelous job Dr Stacy!!

Brilliant work Zafeer 🎉❤
Thank you for this opportunity! excellent work
The pleasure was all mine.
Lovely cats aren’t they, well interviewed.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for all the valuable information.
So nice of you
This project has brought so much awareness here in Cape Town.
I am delighted to hear it. Thanks for your comment.
Great information and visuals! Well done! 👏 I really hope that this work goes towards the growth of the population which is essential in keeping a fine eco-balance in our mountain range. I also hope that the trapping and snaring of these beautiful cats for muti is given the highest priority and that jail sentences are given to the culprits. I also hope that Minister Creecy's Department is aware of this information and more effective and interested than they are in the baboon management field here in the Western Cape Table Mountain range. I read recently that lions and leopards don't have a taste for feline meat so perhaps in the Overberg Range, they and the leopards should exist happily.
Thank you very much. The visuals were all thanks to Laurel and her team.
Why do you have? 3 👍
Sorry, I didn't understand.
Awesome! Very informative documentary, congratulations
Hey my brother, glad you liked it. And thanks for doing the graphics.
I would like to say i am an expert in most animals except birds. This video is a great insight to bird behaviour and how easy one can misunderstand them. Putting that human imprint on them sounds like it can really cause some negative impact for release. Some great info here thanks
You're welcome.
Enjoyed this interview, something id like the chance to do, I have had a few birds given to me that have been injured main pigeon and Dove, I would like to do the same with bird of prey, dont seem to hear of any, thats good i guess. Take care.
Hi Pete, Shaun is a smashing bloke. I didn't have time to compare/contrast wild/tame hack as it is a big subject, that was my only concern with this one.
I imagine salaries for this work in Latin America are quite low?
Very much so - minimum wage or less. Simon brokers property deals.
Always an interesting interview, great work.
Thanks, Peter. We aim to keep improving. Next time: bird of prey rehabilitation.
I watched this but didn't comment after watching, better late than never as they say. A lovely interview.
Really pleased you enjoyed it.
Another top interview, you really do get some good unusual interviews .
Thank you so much; that means a lot.
I was lucky enough to witness vultures on safari in Kenya they are remarkable animals they keep their territory clean of decease which is beneficial to multiple animals and humans there is differently a pecking order at all eating stations ie dead carrion carcasses
They must have been quite a sight to see. Thank you for your commenr. As Lindy said in the interview, there is a student researching vultures' role in disease spread prevention. Next up: sea turtles. This weekend.
I watched this when it came out , just noticed my comment didn’t upload. Lovely interview, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you.
Very pleased. I do try and get these out on a weekly basis, but in fact it is more like every eight days because each video is slightly better than the last (I hope).
Id love to go and help the wildlife/conservation effort but I AM TOO SENSITIVE GOD DAMNIT! I would just be a mess if I saw an injured animal, big ups to the people who do this kind of thing and awesome interview. Can't believe such small number of subs for quality like this! :)
Thank you very much for the kind words. I am delighted you liked it. Yes, more subs would be nice but I let it grow organically.
Top interviews john, always enjoy them.
Thank you, my friend, that's good to know.
Good listening as usual, keep em coming. 👌
Top interview interesting guy and doing a great job. Take care and thank you for sharing..
Thank you. The Hawk Conservancy Trust does great work.
👌🙏
Enjoyed the interview, ihave thought about doing falconry experience in hunting, i often have visitors with me. I think this lady has done a great job setting up this business. I dont think general public think teathering is cruel, i think a minority of animal rights people have to much time on their hands and have no idea what they are even talking about. Well done 👍
I though you'd enjoy this one. How's Woody? I think it would be a good idea to do experiences with your knowledge and expertise
@@thepracticalanimal Woody is a couple days into creance, all going well, we will be out hunting soon every day, just what Woody expects, wearing me out. Hope all is well, take care.

Wow! Thank you! I am delighted you enjoyed it.
Great content ,interesting as usual.
Delighted you liked it.
this was a wonderful interview!!
Thank you Glad you enjoyed it.
Had a training session with Simon with my Spaniel 9 years ago. Really liked his methods but can’t find him online at all now apart from this video.
Glad to have been of service. He's on facebook.
Another interesting interview 👍
Glad you liked it. Mauritius kestrels this weekend
great job
Thank you for the comment. Yes, pest bird abatement using trained birds of prey; Harris' Hawks for feral pigeons, falcons for gulls, if it's something that is of interest.
Enjoyed this interview, enthusiastic falconer for sure. Good luck 👍
Thanks mate. It was good to get a perspective on abatement from New Jersey.

Jemima Parry Jones is responsible for the new regulations
Interesting. Thanks.
Nice interview as usually, good luck
Thanks. Next week is a different subject: I talk to a leader of a South African anti-poaching unit.
Very enjoyable interview interesting chat, I'm sure I heard him say a Harris Hawk flew free in 3 days , that must be a record. Thanks for sharing.
As ever, I am so pleased you enjoyed it. Yes, I suppose it's the advantage of not just knowing your species but also knowing your individual bird.
I went to school with John B in the mid 1980s, he was passionate about nature and animals back then, a brilliant guy with such intense interest in nature, animals and conservation
Asad! I remember you well. Thank you for the kind comment.
I do agree that we should think about the welfare of the birds and dont let public views push falconrys direction. For some reason Falconers get on with the job of an age old art and conservation, and a minority of the public have energetic views which can be wrong, or not fully aware. Usually these peaple are against all animals in captivity, fish, dogs, horses, there would be no end. The problem is they protest we dont. Good interview.
Thanks Peter. Glad you enjoyed it. We are getting better and better as time permits.
